We arrived to the meeting spot around 10am and got back to the cars around 3:15pm. Reservations were easy to do online, and I received the confirmation email shortly after with details on timing, meeting location, and what to expect for the day. This was the only communication we received, so if you're someone who finds reminder emails helpful, you may not get it with OWA. We were split up between two boats with one additional solo guest. The shuttle ride was quick to Paradise campground, leaving the meeting point around 10:10am. The guides set us up with life jackets and paddles, provide us with instructions for paddling and safety, and after hopping in the boats and doing some practice strokes, we were on our way. The deli-style lunch was set up for us about 2 hours into the trip (12:30pmish). We ate at a campground with bathroom access. The lunch spread consisted of bread, deli meats, cheese, sauces/condiments, melon, veggies, chips, cookies, PB/jelly, sodas - a surprisingly vast assortment and was a treat after a few hours on the water. The entire trip was really fun. We enjoyed chatting with our guides, paddling into the rapids and enjoying the scenery. Our boat hit a rapid "just right" and two members of our raft fell out, but we moved quickly to get them back in the raft and all had a good laugh about the rapid. The only thing I wish is that OWA would offer photos (just cell phone, nothing fancy). As they carry a dry bag and phones, it would have been nice to have a photo of our group that could be emailed/texted after the trip. Or from the staff member who sets up the lunch. We all really enjoyed our day and would definitely be interested to do another trip with OWA. And as the email says, "And remember, a guide can over tip your boat, but you can't over tip your guide."

As always, the staff was friendly and helpful. Seriously, if you're thinking of trying this activity but apprehensive bc you've never done it before... just do it, you will have a great time. The riding is exhilarating, and the views are spectacular. One thing to note: Google did not indicate the days they were closed, so call ahead before you visit.

They start on time, so don't mess around and miss the bus (though not sure they'd leave anyone, it's a friendly place). Mikie communicated expectations well from the jump and got us to and from safely. Trevor was a great raft guide, clearly loves what he does, and as far as I could tell, does it well. Would row for him again for sure. Rode a raft with a family my partner and I didn't know, it was a good time all around. Will probably hit up another tour next summer for fun, was worth it. Tips? Kinda? You could easily hit this and another outing in one day. Set your timing right and you could ride and then raft, this is certainly a good time but it doesn't take long door to door. If you care about pics sit in the front. If you're worried about rowing, don't sit on the right for big eddy (the guide will likely seat folks for safety and row power anyhow). Not sure I need to say this but I will, there isn't a dry seat on the raft. The road to the spot is bumpy, sit toward the front if that bothers you. If your kids not taller than an oar, they likely won't get one. There are two spots you'll be offered to jump in.

Well organized prep and pickup in Sunriver, in the main village behind the Sunriver Country Store. Our guide, Lanny was lovely and kept us safe while also ensuring our group ranging from ages 7-50 had a great time. Only real feedback has to do with the to/from transportation and driver sales pitch. School bus to the put in added a lot of extra time to the overall trip which made the short time on the river feel even shorter. And while Roberto our driver was lovely, the sales pitch for other trips that Sun Country offers prior to heading back to the main office felt very sales-y and drawn out. These guys can't help how the river and rapids are set up but they could be more efficient with time overall. My kids definitely had a blast and have been bitten by the whitewater rafting bug. Thanks to Lanny for a great time on the water!

This was totally my mistake. I had set my mind up to not bike that day once I realized the error However Lara was so gracious and kind about my mistake. She immediately walked me over to the office and started trying to figure out what else we could do. She really want the extra mile and ended up coordinating bikes from the hotel, recommending a route since now we wouldn't have a guide, and offering to drive us up if we weren't able to catch the shuttle. There's no place I will rent a bike in Bend besides here thank you Cog Wild.

The Prehistoric Gardens is a magical place unlike any other…read more Opened in 1955, this roadside attraction has obviously been maintained with much love over the years. I thought $14 was well worth it for the price of admission, considering that one can linger as long as they want to marvel at the cement dinosaurs, but also revel in wildlife watching in this beautiful old-growth rainforest setting. I'm a huge fan of old school roadside attractions, but the Prehistoric Gardens is unique in its melding of kitsch with natural beauty. It was a perfect pause in a busy day on the South Oregon Coast, and I took a ridiculous amount of photos. The young woman working in the gift shop was very kind and nice to chat with; I was also giddily excited to throw down some money for a sticker, magnet, and sweatshirt. I will definitely return any time I'm in the area. I hope that this very special place continues to inspire future generations of coastal travelers.

My dad simply asked where we could purchase tickets for admission. A woman told him that tickets were purchased at the outside window, where we would also receive the "dinosaur orientation." As we were walking away--but were still well within earshot in the gift shop area--we heard her say, "Well, that's a typical f***ing man for you." We immediately responded, "Well, that was rude!" Instead of apologizing or acknowledging what she had said, she got up, went into another room, and shut the door. We then asked another employee if we could speak with the owner about what had just happened. Imagine our surprise when we learned that the woman who made the comment was the owner. It is incredibly disappointing to travel from out of town to support a small, unique business and be treated this way for asking a completely reasonable question about where to purchase admission. Whether you have an issue with men specifically or simply become irritated when visitors ask questions, there is no excuse for speaking about paying customers that way--especially within earshot of them. As we were leaving, the employee we had spoken with appeared genuinely shocked and embarrassed by what had happened. Frankly, I felt bad that she was left in the position of dealing with the aftermath of her own employer's behavior. A basic level of courtesy, self-control, and professionalism should not be too much to expect from any business, particularly from the owner. Unfortunately, this interaction left a very poor impression of what otherwise could have been an enjoyable visit.

You can choose from guided tour to self guided which is what I recommend if you're somewhat familiar with the dunes; from any state. If you're new to dune riding, might want to get the guided tour or play it safe and ride slow. The dunes can have drop-offs or be too steep going up and you need to know how to navigate. We opted for the 2-hour self guided tour in a 4-seater with awesome power. Didn't get stuck at all and plenty of time to go to the beach twice and run from east to west of the entire dunes. Checking in was easier than I thought as most forms and videos are done prior online. Got our safety brief of where to go and where not to go, speed limits, and then how to call for help. Don't show up in crocs or open toed shoes as you'll need to be protected. The deposit of the vehicle is quickly returned to your card after you're done riding, as long as there's no damage. Professional staff and quick to get you out riding. Arrive 30 minutes prior to your time so you can ensure everything is done and you're ready to ride!

Fun starts in the sand!…read more What an effing fun place to go dune buggy riding! They don't take reservations, but I highly recommend that you get there as early as possible. Park, head inside to buy your tickets, then write your name on the board outside near the waiting area. The guys will pull up in the buggy's, you'll climb on in, and away you go! 45/60 mins of twists, turns, and flying through the sand dunes along the beach. It doesn't get any better than this! Taking pictures is close to impossible, and you'll want to live in the moment. Wear clothes and shoes that you're comfy in. On rainy days, make sure you wear something that you don't mind getting slightly dirty. Did I mention how fun this is?? If YKYK. If you don't, this should be a must try. Just do it!

The instructors are highly proficient and good at teaching what they know. From teenage girls to old guys like me everyone is treated with respect and a growth mindset. Very kind and supportive culture which is important when you are choking and throwing your classmates.

Sensei Alan Best has been teaching martial arts professionally for over 20 years, and his instructors are all highly qualified. Furthermore, he is able to bring his knowledge of other styles (eskrima and capoeira, for example) and incorporate them into the more traditional adult classes. Yes, the classes are hard, but in a very good way; you will sweat, you will learn, and you will have a great time doing so. If you are looking for a great workout, want to learn a new skill, or are just looking for a fun new activity, I highly recommend giving Best Martial Arts Institute a try.
