Yes, this is an age old question that has tried Men's souls for over a decade, lol. The ambiance here is a bar and grill decor, you know dark, and laid back so you can relax as you enjoy your lunch or dinner. However, I do not recommend it after 7:00 PM which should cover about 70% of us Low Country patrons. Their service was friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. My 16 year old Grandson who was visiting for our annual, golf, beach, fishing, and fondu diners and what ever adventure we enjoy together. You know, the visit which you have done with him and his Sister all of their lives, meaning, each year since they were born while you give their Parents a rest which they have always appreciated for a couple of weeks, or, in few years, a month. But as many of us have experienced 16 is a challenging age for almost all youth just as it was for you and I. In our day, many of us were working in the summer at that age but today, I am very happy to say, many of our Grandchildren will now rotate their friends into their summer jobs which is smart, while they are gone, and are now available for visits. But what to do that do to entertain your digital challenged linage? Some of whom only venture outside at night at 16 as they feel the extreme heat of our days can stifle even the heartiest our souls. You still want them to feel you are cool, like when you, and they were younger and you visited Ft. Jackson in Savannah, or to the Tall Ships that were docked, Putt Golf, the Kazoo factory, days trips on the Pirate Ship, The Beaufort Water Festival for everything to MoTown Monday while dancing and singing along, to Bed and Raft races, Bocce, or The Chocolate Tree or summer camp each year for a week, or for trips to St. Augustine, or Disney World. But at 16 that dog just don't hunt. So what is a cool Grandpa to do? I decided we would venture out to enjoy some fried gator (tastes like chicken), which he had never eaten before, and which were perfectly prepared. Their Burgers were delicious with an excellent taste. We had a great time together playing pool, while laughing at a few of our shots, and talking while hanging out together.. And you know, he really had a great time doing what some of the time, I enjoyed doing in my youth. So if you feel you need to revisit your youth, possibly with your next generation, or just want enjoy a leisurely meal and libation with some friends, we can recommend Tailgators Bar and Grill for some, with Grandson, or none. FYI: Kyra or Kayra, and Kaira is named for the God who planted the tree of life Ulukayin, in Turkic Mythology, or a new born's name. Their Specials listed on a black board as you enter their restaurant are only offered from 4:00 to 5:30 PM as when we inquired about them at 6:30 PM they were not. The owner is Turkish, hence the name I am guessing, and he likes him some Hungarian peppers as they featured on multiple dishes like their Mediterranean Seafood Grouper which has a savory but not hot, but was instead, spicy with a delectable flavor which my ravishing dinner companion let me try. However, I was only offered and ate a very little piece, which was a fantastic flavorful taste experience. I guess, even with our fifty year history together and almost all of it married, I guess, I just don't rate, as she ate, her entire plate, which she really enjoyed. You know how it is when you ordered their good, but less tasty entree, and you're offered a taste of one of their taste tintilating hits, and then your hoping she's not that hungry, right? Oh, I know, not you! Lol We started with their scallops and pasta appetiser which was good but only had two scallops on it with a small amount of pasta which in our opinion, was perfectly executed, but taste wise, was nothing special. Our friends who accompanied us had fried calamari as their appetiser, and upon our return, I will order this as an appetizer as it was perfectly cooked and their marina with was a very tasty match. And yet again, I was only offered a small piece, dagnabit. I took the road less traveled for me and tried their Shrimp and clams spaghetti which was well prepared with shrimp and clams being again, perfectly cooked, but this entrees' taste was surprisingly, just Ok. My portion was on smaller plate than most dinning establishments in our area, so this dish in particular, would not draw me back to Kyra on its own merits. We finished with their Ricotta Cheese Cake which was one of the best deserts I have ever eaten anywhere, and one we highly recommend because it is neither commonly available in our area but is so...so...velvety delicious! Our Server was outstanding, knowledgeable on all their offerings, while smiling with a great personable style. They take a team approach to their service here, employing different team members to serve your orders hot, which I really felt was very efficient and more old world in the best way, reminding me of some of the stellar restaurants we have frequented in different cities like Hartford, Connecticut's North End, Baltimore's Italian section, or St. Louis's "The Hill" with their toasted lobster ravioli, and in which, this style of service was perfected, which we all enjoyed very much. In our over twenty year past, here in our beloved Low Country, we have visited this restaurant building under its different iterations for breakfast, and lunch. Great Food, Wait, Awful!…read more Hi Everyone, Remember way back, in "The Good Old Days" before 2019 when many restaurants were staffed well with Servers? Well the Food Service Industry was battered very badly during COVID with some restaurants we all knew & frequented, gone. Outback Steakhouse Bluffton, served us an aroma enticing, very tasty, well seasoned, tastebud exhilarating, diner last night which was exceptional! Surprised? We were a little too, at the level of fantastic taste, & euphoria we experienced in consuming our meals. Although, their food has always been good. Wait, Awful Fix: For one, hiring more Servers! Outback Managers either hire, train, & provide more Servers, or get directly involved in the cooking, & serving, themselves. Why? Because you either staff & manage, or you, do the work yourself. But the business requirements and patrons expectations do not change as they, "want to eat" which is why they are showing up at Outback's door. And because this Outback, on this night was packed w/a 45 min to hour wait for a table. Was the Manager in this Outback serving or taking orders to help alleviate the situation their Servers faced? He most certainly was not! When you have a fire, you are responsible. Especially when you earn your money from managing your team through a tough situation. Some of us believe that you do your best to put out that fire, making it easier, on all involved. So while we were stand/waiting, two seats opened up at the bar & we grabbed them. This Outback has a warm, earthy feel, & vibe because of all the interior wood look and tasteful decorating. We knew what we wanted, and tried ordering immediately but our Server told us that we would have to wait which we did for over 1/2 hr. Ordered meals with a glass of wine, wine up in 15 mins, meals up in 30 mins, after wine. Our one Server was handling the entire bar and 5 tables. Our diners were hot & delicious. My sirloin steak was medium rare as ordered. My gorgeous companion's Shrimp Alfredo perfectly cooked. Our compliments to our chef! Sounds great, doesn't it? Except for the wait times, right? But we dealt with it. I was so enjoying, my taste enthused, savory steak, so much, I ordered another wine. A couple beside us tried ordering but our Server said she would get their order asap. They sat patiently waiting for 30 mins to order, but after a total of over 40 mins, they walked out, stating "this is ridiculous, we can't even get our order taken". And they were right! In fairness, so was our/their Server as she was doing her best to handle all the customer orders. Result: Outback lost the upset couples order, and my guess is their future patronage. My 2nd glass of wine was still MIA after 25 mins, cancelled it, & took our desert, a very creamy, delectable piece of cheese cake which was marvelous, and oh...so good, to go! We waited another 15 mins for desert, & then 15 mins more for bill. Tipped our Server well, & left. Thoughts this morning, lessons learned: 1. When you wait over 1/2 hr to order we adjust exceptions, relax, and wait it out, or leave. 2. When your Severer offers a 9 oz glass of wine as ours did, instead of the 6 oz, in a full restaurant, take it, as you may not get another chance. 3. Call ahead to learn how full your restaurant is now, especially, if they do not take reservations. 4. After 40 mins w/no order taken, speak w/RMGN about lack of Severs expressing your displeasure because how else will they know unless we all speak up about it, each, and every time it happens? My hope is that Outback's upper MGN team realizes that the RMGNs they hire need to take action now and get directly involved taking orders and serving in an "all hands on deck" challenge to do their best to help relieve the stress on everyone involved. For if not them, who? If not now, when? In my over three decades long business career, I observed when customers are not treated reasonably, they, much like the couple will walk, & more often than not, they do not return, ever! Multiple Business studies have consistently proven, it costs 2.5 times or 250% more money to earn back a disgruntled customers trust in a product than it did to get that same customer, to try your product the first time. With the Food Service Industry averaging 2% to 5% profit margins, that is an extremely high cost to bear. Is Outback Restaurant in the Buckwalter complex a great place to eat? Yes, it most certainly serves terrific tasting food! Of course, in some instances, getting to eat their delicious food may offer some significant challenges when they are experiencing a full restaurant with a 45 min to hour long wait, that you are, or are not willing to overcome. Do we recommend you dine here? Yes, we highly recommend you try it for the first time, or return for another outstanding meal. Enjoy!

No way in the world could she be expected to handle that all on her own. She did her best. Unfortunately, it took forever to order our food and get our drinks. We had to ask for the bread twice and ordered two drinks at a time because we knew we wouldn't get another. We ordered a wedge salad and she came back and said they were out and gave us another salad that we didn't order. Then the food came out. The steak was SO salty!! Took one bite and couldn't even eat it. God awful! Couldn't send it back because we couldn't get waited on. Now the cream corn and Mac and cheese was good. My wife order a quesadilla and had asked for sour cream. Never got that until it was time to ask for boxes and pay our tab. This is part of the reason I avoid chain restaurants. It's just not good and inconsistent. We only went because we met people there. This is a one and done for us for sure.
