This was probably one of the first few times I have dined at a Brazilian restaurant (the other being a Brazilian steakhouse), and it was a delightful experience. I came with my Brazilian friend who made the dining experience a level more authentic with her conversing with the waiters and placing our orders in Portuguese. The food as it came out seemed familiar with it being served with rice and fries, but also unique at the same time with its unique sauce and seasoning blend. I ordered the Alcatra Ao Molho Gorgonzola ($32). It was not among the best sirloin steaks I have sampled, but its combination with the Gorgonzola sauce makes the meal have its own unique twist. Another dish I was able to enjoy sampling was the Moqueca De Camarao ($29) which was a tiger shrimp stew. The stew was rich and very flavourful. We were the first group of customers present when we arrived at 6PM on a Friday evening. The place, elegantly furnished, then slowly started to pack up with people as the night went on. The washroom can be reached downstairs through a darkly lit corridor. It was an overall pleasant dinner with good service.

fter a few years of living abroad, I finally moved back to Toronto and decided to return to my favourite Brazilian restaurant for my first meal back in Toronto. I was astonished to find that not only have their prices remained at pre-2020 levels, but the portions are the same as well. The service was pretty much the same, with the difference being the wait staff checking on my party to see how we were enjoying our meals(likely because they haven't seen me in almost a decade and didn't recognize my face). The ambiance is what you'd expect of a restaurant in this wonderful neighbourhood.

5 stars for this authentic Brazilian restaurant a little north of Little Portugal in Toronto (St. Clair West area). This place seems to be packed at all hours (the food and service speak for themselves), so make a reservation ahead of time. There is Green P parking right across the street, and street parking is plenty but can fill up (especially on weekends). The interior is beautifully adorned with chandeliers, and there are posters of photos of Brazil along the walls (including the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, and photo of Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro). Tables are pretty big (even the tables for 2 people) - so plenty of room if you're ordering multiple dishes to share. Service is quick, friendly, helpful, and very pleasant overall. We came here mostly to try the feijoada (Brazil's national dish). It's only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and we were told that it tends to run out by the late afternoon / evening. But the staff were able to reserve a portion for us ahead of time, which was really nice of them. All the dishes we tried were excellent times ten. 1) Feijoada (Brazil's national dish) - The beans stew, rice, farofa (toasted cassava flour), sautéed collard greens, and sliced orange all went really well together. The beans stew came in a large pot with big chunks of slow-cooked tender pork and sausage. As a non-meat eater, I only had the beans and they were very flavourful. It was a hearty dish with a multitude of textures. I really liked the farofa (unique and not easily found anywhere else!). 2) Mandioca Frita com Queijo Parmesão Fresco (fried cassava bites with parmesan cheese) - Super crispy and addicting! So much better than typical French fries. 3) Salada Verde (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, hearts of palm) - Simple, nicely fresh, and a great accompaniment to the more saucy dishes. 4) Camarão ao Alho e Oleo (tiger shrimps sautéed in chef's specialty sauce, served with garlic toast) - The delicious plump tiger shrimps in a tomato-based sauce were supposed to be eaten with / on the garlic toast, but I liked mixing them with the rice and veggies from the other dishes. 5) Salmao Grelhado ao Molho de Maracuja (grilled Atlantic salmon with passion fruit sauce, served with rice and house salad) - I found the salmon to be a bit salty, but I liked the sauce (not too sweet at all). The salmon was cooked well done and came in a pretty big portion. Portion sizes of all the dishes are pretty generous in general, including the appetizers. Drinks selection in this restaurant is really good. There is a full bar at the back. They have a large selection of wine, martinis, spirits, shooters, and also one of my favourite cocktails - caipirinha, Brazil's national cocktail that is super refreshing and is made of cachaça and lime. A sip reminds you of being in a hot summer day on the beach.

This Brazilian place has virgin cocktails for $5. The frozen margarita is just... lime juice & ice. Okay... The virgin pina colada was ok. Had the coxinha ( croquettes). We could only choose 1 so we got chicken & cheese. They were good: crispy & tasty, with a good blend of chicken & cheese flavours. The steaks & pork blade were good. The shrimp (with the steak) was ok. The gravy was good & had a sour edge The gorgonzola sauce that came with one of the steaks was nice: not too strong (so if you don't like strong cheeses you might give this a shot). The fries were good: dusted so they had a nice crisp. They had a good savory flavour too. The mashed potato & salad were ok. The rice was tasty & resembled Singaporean chicken rice. The beans were so-so: quite salty (I have a high salt tolerance). The gravy was a bit salty too, but ok when eaten with the other food.

I tried this place for few times already and could never really have one fixed opinion, because some things are very good and some are very frustrating. My feelings about this place is very mixed, as the review will be too! Good part: - the owner is very friendly and kind, serves the tables always with a smile in her face - "Dadinhos de tapioca" - new in the menu - are just amazing, very tasty and good portion. - "Polenta frita" was very good, properly fried, not oily, good portion. - Lemon mousse is delicious, totally recommended. Bad part: - The beef and cassava with cream on top is an appetizer, the taste is good but there is no balance in the proportion of the items. Just way more cassava and cheese than meat, sad. - The cooking point for the picanha (the famous grilled beef from Brazil) was not correct in all our orders, we ordered 4 the last time and it was all wrong. Also missing salt and the portions that comes with the meat are very very small. - Terrible "brigadeirao", which is a kind of chocolate pudim. It tastes like watered down, we are one spoon and left it, the owner realized and asked us about it, but didn't even remove from the bill. - Check your bills, it's always coming something extra on ours and we just realized at home. - I refuse to accept that Strogonoff is served with bagged potato chips or French fries, in Brazil we eat that with a very very different kind of potato chips and that's the traditional way. There is no point on going to a restaurant to eat it with bagged potato chips.

A busy spot on St. Clair Ave W - authentic Brazilian cuisine with a large menu! It was my first time at Rio 40 and it won't be my last. The food was a solid 10/10 - it was delicious & filled with flavour. The patio is a nice spot in the summer time to enjoy a nice night freeze and have a cold drink paired with your dinner.

Wow. The food is awesome, the service is friendly, honestly the only issue is its not close enough to us lol. I love their "espetada de picanha com liguica, pimentao e cebola" ie steak, sausage, and veggies cooked on a skewer, fries, and beans! My go to meal when I visit. Also tried my fiance's alcatra ao molho gorgonzola. Ie. Steak with cheesy sauce, fries and chips. Very yummy but slightly not as good as mine haha. Can't wait to return! :)

Decided to try Brazilian cuisine today to celebrate one of our Brazilian friends. The place is located in the very busy Corso Italia. There is a green P about 5 mins away and we parked there as the streets were too busy. We were greeted as soon an we entered and seated immediately. The place has a very Brazilian vibe. With the decor, seating and even soccer matches going on! For appetizers, we ordered the cassava fries and the pan fried rump steak. They were fresh and delicious. We had two beef and one chicken main and all of them were tasty. The Catupirhy or homemade Brazilian sauce was just perfect. The highlight for me was the homemade hot sauce! So so good!! The black beans were also very well cooked and seasoned so nicely. We also ordered two desserts both of which were fresh and delicious! A great place to try if you are looking for authentic Brazilian food. Our Brazilian friend approved!

Love love love this spot. I frequent this restaurant with my boyfriend as he works down the street. So nice to have a pina colada on the patio after work and a nice picanha for dinner. Every time I've been there I've always gotten the same thing lol so I can't really speak on the other items on the menu but it's delicious every single time. I don't even like black beans but I can eat the beans here day and night, they are amazing. Service is good too, never had a complaint at this restaurant. Definitely try it out if you like Brazilian food.

I love taking my friends here when we want to get something hearty, but I don't want to go very far. Their Brazilian steaks are the specialty, and they are fantastic, served in large portions with an equally large portion of sides. They used to have this amazing sausage and deep fried yuca(?) side dish on the menu that I dreamt about every night, but I haven't seen it in a while. I'm hoping they see this review and bring it back, so I can die happy, with blood that flows like molasses through my hardened arteries. The ambiance is almost fancy, with a family vibe. The place is full nearly every night with families, groups of Brazilian friends in their 20s, and Chinese people (we always find a good deal). In the summer, they have a giant patio that stretches across the side street.

With just one waitress working during lunch shift at Rio 40 Restaurant, resulted in unbearable slow services.... I was standing at the entrance waiting to be seated for over 5 minutes.... and then waiting for a while to have my order taken... but after that our food did arrive quickly... Grilled Pork Loin served with Rice, Beans, Collard Green and Fried Banana ($15) is quite good... just the pork definitely on the dry side and a little bland when compared to the Picanha - Rumpsteak ($18) which is tender and smoking delicious... And even for lunch, my DC has to order a Pudim - Carmel Pudding ($4.50) as he loves sweet... The pudding is smooth and silky... really enjoyable. Just a little confused why they have an All You Can Eat Pizza and Pasta Thursdays? I would rather enjoy all your can eat grilled meat in a Brazilian restaurant!

There are 2 locations north of Toronto, north essentially the same. It a large open space with tables far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sitting right next to strangers. There are a few appetizers like the cheese bread and some grilled vegetables. These are bland and have no real flavour. Their corn bread, however, is fantastic. The meat variety is good. Of course, they have picanha (a Brazilian cut of meat), Parmesan sirloin steak, sausage, chicken, grilled pineapple, shrimp, and others. They have beans and rice too. The staff walk around constantly and offer food. They're friendly and are happy to give you an extra piece of meat if that's the one you really like. These reason for 4 stars is that its nearly impossible to get meat that's prepared medium or well done. Not all my family likes rare/medium rare, and while it's possible to request well done, it takes 15-20 minutes to get 2 little pieces of meat by which time you're ready for more and have to wait another 15-20 minutes. This, while all the others are busily eating.

The space is lively and the service is attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. As for the food, the variety is decent, and the meats are generally well-seasoned and flavorful. I especially liked the grilled pineapple -- it was juicy and nicely caramelized. However, if you're not a fan of cinnamon, this might not be your favorite, as the flavor is quite noticeable. Overall, it's a good experience and worth trying at least once, but in terms of variety and overall balance, I personally still lean towards Copacabana.

Its location is the former site of another Brazilian restaurant (Sabor Brasil). They kept much of the exterior signage, interior, and most of the menu items the same / very similar to the restaurant that previously occupied the space. We came here specifically to try the Moqueca De Peixe Com Camarão & Arroz E Pirão (grouper fish & shrimps stew with tomatoes, green peppers, onions, cilantro, and coconut milk), and it did not disappoint! The stew was so flavourful and they gave a lot of grouper fish and big shrimps in the pot. I really liked the tomatoes and cilantro in the stew. It came bubbling hot, with Brazilian fish gravy served in a smaller pot beside it. It was served with garlic-infused rice that was just as flavourful. Tip: Order farofa (toasted cassava flour) alongside any stew dish, then mix it with the stew. The textures complement each other very well. The Grilled Salmon was also really good. It was flavourful and I could see and taste the charred grill mark. It came served with rice (also infused with garlic) and choice of side. I chose a side of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrot, green beans) and they were excellent! In addition to the main dishes, we ordered a large House Salad (nice, simple, and refreshing), Brazilian Tomato Slaw (for extra veggies - also refreshing), and Farofa (a must-get every time I go to a Brazilian restaurant). Everything we tried was delicious x100. Food came out in a decent amount of time, and service was nice and friendly. The ambience was very casual with Portuguese music playing in the background. I definitely recommend this place if you want to try authentic Brazilian dishes in a casual setting!

So, when my family was looking for somewhere to gather for an early Father's Day connect. I quickly suggested Copa. So, disappointed in the entire experience and very embarrassed after how great I told my family it would be and everyone was extremely unhappy with the experience. You would think a group that large with the cost of this place would get some reasonable service, the entire staff literally overlooked our group. They would tell the kids they are coming back with things like pineapple that they were excited about and never came back. The management and servers should get a better flow and order to how the meats come out. The servers seem like they all forget where they stopped last and then they just never get around to some tables. There should be some kind of memory to what tables you went to before you ran out, and where to pick back up once you get back on the floor. $1400 for a dinner where all our men left hungry. We kept reminding the server that we had not seen any meat for over 30 minutes, and she said she would address it then the manager said the same, and still we were charged full price with 25% of the experience. Will never say positive words about Copa again. Complete waste of our time and money. No consideration from the staff. And after the hour were we had only 4 meats come to the table and the servers saying they can only give guests 2 small pieces of meat at a time, they started to again not appear then stop coming completely. I would dispute this charge that's how bad it is, as a person who happily spend over $300 on a meal for my self if the food and service is great. It's difficult to enter and exit a high van in a tight skirt and high heels. Just saying. We arrived just in time to see the 8pm floor show, but the music was so loud I was praying for it to end. To order from the menu for AYCE side dishes, you have to have a phone that can scan the QR code: No printed menu was forthcoming, and the print on my cell phone was too small for my husband to read. The music was so loud it made conversation impossible, so I made the choices. The kitchen had already run out of mashed potatoes, and green chimichurri sauce by 8pm, and they seat until 11pm on Saturdays. I was not impressed. There's a chaotic way the servers with the meats circulated. Some tables were served steak three times while we were never served. It's a $90 per person meal where drinks and desserts are extra, our table wobbled horribly, and we couldn't speak to each other. It was the opposite of hospitality. How loud was the music?
