The decor is all pretty dated but I actually expect that in bowling places, just the same as I would at a dive bar. It was fun bowling with my family! We all found balls for ourselves, enjoying the process of wandering the alley, picking up balls until we each had the right ones. There was a mix of adults and kids and everyone found what they were looking for. Aside from our group, the lanes were really busy with the leagues in town who all gave off a kind of hardcore bowling but relaxing in the man's club vibe. The most shockingly awesome thing about this place was the food. You ever just have an unexpectedly godly burger? That happened to me here! I thought I'd be getting regular greasy spoon but then I bit into the most perfectly toasted, slightly crispy bun with soft burger and cheese. I mean, damn. Totally normal but the texture blasted me! Aside from that food was cheap and fast, served in baskets, again what you'd expect. There are other places in the area but if you don't feel like driving over to Cortland then Hi-Lanes will suit you just fine.

Good gravel roads, spacious site, and full hookups made it easy. Very close to down town, kids park across the street, and right at the bottom of the lake; so close to everything. We stopped by Clute Park to take in the views of Seneca Lake, and it does have some nice views. There are also basketball courts, bathrooms, a food vendor stand (although they didn't look open when we were there), a beach area, a playground, and more. I'm sure it's a great spot for families staying in town (and especially those staying in the campground across the street from the park), but you can only pay for the day (not for the hour), so we spent about $8 to just by for a bit to enjoy the views. It's probably possible to find street or free parking nearby and then walk over, but - since it was a holiday weekend - parking was harder to find than usual. The views from the park were okay, but I'd say this park is really a place for families to use the amenities in the park, not for casual tourists in town.

Set sail for True Love, a truly enjoyable time!…read more Bottom Line Up Front: We had a wonderful, relaxing, and fun time for a good price. The Good: The history of the John Alden designed schooner is worth reading before you go. We had some more "salty" members of our group that recognized the name of the schooner from the 1956 movie "High Society" starring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and after that we were on board for a wonderful time. We even were seated in the seats once occupied by Gene and Bing. We purchased our tickets after being approached by Terry who negotiated a decent price with us because he wanted a full boat for the next trip. Captain Bill was an experienced Captain and is well known in the area. He got us underway and was a delightful host regaling us with stories about the "True Love", Seneca Lake and surroundings, as well as, some stories about racing the "True Love" and his crew, Spencer and Marena. Captain Bill even assisted another sailing boat that was in distress and precariously close to the lake edge. The trip was two hours long and on time. The crew served non-alcoholic and adult beverages (some free, some for a price) while underway and also sold some souvenirs (Whisky and glasses). The Bad: There was nothing bad, from start to finish, this was a very enjoyable trip and the crew definitely enjoyed sharing their love of the "Trie Love" with the joyful passengers. The Ugly: Absolutely nothing other than we could not be out for longer. If you find yourself in Watkins Glen, this is definitely an enjoyable to kick back, relax, and let the wind fill your sails. The place is huge and clean. People are constantly mowing their greens, the trees are pruned well. The greens are ok, their 9 holes was quite easy to complete for it's not that crowded. The staff were friendly. Got good deals , free 2 golf cart use because we have to spent playing with a birthday celebrant plus with a free large bucket of golf balls to hit in the driving range. You don't find that in NY metro / Tri state .. A decent golf course with excellent deals and staff..Your own time, what more to ask, right? The only thing it's situated beside a correctional facility and drug rehab...

Brought my 12 year old son here to play his first big course and we played 18 without issue. Very laid back pace and not too crowded, which we both liked. It gave me time to work with him on things and not have to rush the pace of play. Greens were pretty good. Fairways do have clover, but don't really hinder play that I noticed. Would play here again. Just don't expect a championship type/level course because this won't be it. It's a good course to start on though to get some experience in if your just starting out or are an intermediate player.

I rented a paddle b board from these folks over the summer. They are by far the cheapest place to…read morerent them in the finger lakes. There are not many other options but the alternatives are incredibly expensive, so much so you would almost be better off just buying one! They have nice entry level boards in good shape. And if you are renting them long enough they will drop them off and pick them up. Easy to get to on the west side of Seneca Lake. Make sure to reserve it in advance though since they rent them out quickly in peak times.
