My daughter recently purchased a house in the Orlando area with numerous problems--including a…read morefailing roof. Being the fiercely protective mom I am, I committed to finding her a good roofer. Investing so much money was anxiety inducing, particularly after reading horror stories about botched jobs and unscrupulous roofers, but I was determined to make a well-informed decision. I spent two months studying roofs, learning about types of materials and construction, reading articles and blogs, and making phone calls--lots of phone calls. I called an engineer. I called the county building department. I called friends. And I called about a dozen roofing companies in the Orlando area (I could probably write an essay about the nonsense I heard from some of these companies). I listened carefully and researched their responses. I read reviews and I read every line in the contracts sent to me by about half of them. I was relentless because this was my kid I was protecting. Happily, my diligence paid off and my daughter now has a quality roof and sparkling new gutters. Robert Bonesteel at Sheegog Contracting was the project manager I worked with. He spent MONTHS speaking with me. I can honestly say that no one has ever worked harder for my business. Through it all, Robert was extremely kind and never once made me feel that my questions were stupid. He explained things clearly and sometimes took over an hour to clarify something. He never pressured me and encouraged me to read and investigate other companies, which I absolutely did.  Sheegog didn't just slap on a roof. They used GAF Timberline HDZ premium shingles. They repaired decking under the leak and addressed other minor issues. The work site was spotless when they left, but Robert wasn't satisfied. He came out with a magnetic detector and scoured the area for stray nails. He answered my questions and pointed out repairs. He sent a wind mitigation expert. I'm immensely grateful for Robert's kindness and his company's excellent work. Several of my neighbors are interested in having their roofs redone by Sheegog.  To Robert and the team at Sheegog: thank you. You guys rock!

I contacted Sheegog September 1st and several calls to them sense and have only had good service from Kathy in their office. We entered into a Home Remodeling Construction Agreement with Details Construction Group on March…read more2, 2024. What was supposed to be the remodel of our dream home has turned into a nightmare. We experienced persistent delays and a lack of communication. Subcontractors were routinely left unsupervised, and no schedule or daily logs were maintained in BuilderTrend--the project management platform. Details Construction Group began demolition, rendering our home uninhabitable. After months of excuses and minimal progress, we discovered that portions of the work--including structural, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical--had been performed without the required permits, in direct violation of our contract and Florida law. In order to move forward, we retained a licensed third-party inspector to assess the condition of the home in preparation for after-the-fact permitting. The inspection revealed numerous code violations and safety hazards, including, but not limited to, incomplete electrical work, improperly installed plumbing, and structural modifications completed without engineering or inspection. Despite paying over $160,000, the project remains unfinished, unpermitted, and uninhabitable. The contractor has failed to provide an itemized accounting of draws, receipts, or subcontractor invoices despite multiple written requests. We have since formally terminated the contract and served a legal notice under Florida Statute 558. As of this posting, we have received no formal response. We're sharing this review to help other homeowners make informed decisions. This experience has been both financially and emotionally exhausting. We strongly recommend conducting extensive due diligence--including checking the BBB, DBPR, and your local County Clerk of Courts websites--before hiring a contractor. *Images posted reflect the current state of the home as left by Details Construction Group.

Our experience with Details has been a complete and utter nightmare. We hired them to knock out a…read morewindow and install a sliding patio door. They require a $10,000 deposit to even consider projects. That was the first red flag that a huge mistake on our part. I've also learned now that per Florida Statute 489.126: A contractor who receives, as initial payment, money totaling more than 10 percent of the contract price for repair, restoration, improvement, or construction to residential real property must: (a) Apply for permits necessary to do work within 30 days after the date payment is made, except where the work does not require a permit under the applicable codes and ordinances, and (b) Start the work within 90 days after the date all necessary permits for work, if any, are issued. None of the above occurred and the work, according to Details was $12,000 of which the $10,000 deposit is well over the 10%. Per the same Florida Statute: Any person who violates any provision of this section is guilty of theft and shall be prosecuted and punished under s. 812.014. Keep all of this in mind when hiring a new contractor. Now back to the "work" Details performed: They failed to install our door according to Florida Building Code (FBC) requirements, as confirmed by an independent engineer we had to hire at our own expense. The installation was poorly done, leaving exposed concrete and flashing, which was completely unacceptable. After abandoning the job halfway through, they sent us a ridiculous extortion email demanding an additional $3,000 in a change order to "ensure a smooth continuation of the project." Shockingly, this change order was supposedly to bring the work up to code, something that should have been done from the start without extra charges. It's clear they were trying to cover their tracks and take advantage of the situation. The contractor also repeatedly cancelled meetings, failed to show up when promised, and even resorted to cussing at us in our own home--in front of our toddler. To make matters worse, they left live electrical wiring dangling at eye level, posing a serious danger to our little girl. The lack of professionalism, integrity, and competence is staggering. I found a negative Glassdoor review from one of their former employees shortly after they abandoned our project, but it has since mysteriously disappeared. I screenshot it before the suspicious deletion and it is attached for all to see. I'm also attaching photos of the interior and exterior job that Details felt was "complete" enough to extort a change order against, as well as the live electric that they left in our living room. Like other clients of theirs, we have had to hire an attorney to help us with this disaster. If you conduct a court records search for Details you will find 5 cases in the past 4 years. Here's a link (https://myeclerk.myorangeclerk.com/Cases/search) and I've also attached a screenshot. But wait, there's more! I was curious as to what kind of people we were dealing with and looked up the Project Manager (who never showed up on site to assess the project) on Facebook and found a public post of his alluding to bumping up charges to cover for a new hire's potential mistakes... There's so much more to this debacle, but please just do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. They will leave you with unfinished work, lies, and headaches in addition to attorney's fees and the task of finding and hiring a new trustworthy contractor.

Our dogs went to their kennels as they always did. When we returned home, two hours later we opened the door to a house completely filled with smoke. We had an electrical fire which resulted in the loss of most of our personal belongings and our two beautiful dogs, leaving our beautiful "dream house" in shambles. I tell you all of this because I want it known that your company did so much more then providing property repair. My wife and I found ourselves lost and overwhelmed. I truly had no idea what to do. A couple of days after the fire I had found a flyer from your company on the door of the house. I subsequently met with Chris Barnett who not only outlined what your company could provide, he showed compassion, understanding and patience. This took such a weight off of us and gave us a direction when it had appeared that all was loss. Chris was outstanding guiding us along through every step. Then Chris did the greatest thing. He provided Ray Hernandez as the superintendent for our home's repair. Ray is truly amazing! He is knowledgeable, detail oriented and hands on. Ray's attitude is always positive, caring and friendly. I have not only seen him at the house many times, he often has a tool in his hand helping with the repairs. He truly leads by example with impeccable work ethic. It always makes me feel good after talking with Ray. He keeps me in the loop and always shows compassion and understanding. I am truly grateful for all of this. Now that the house has been completed, we are finally home and the house is more beautiful than before! You can be very proud of your company. Mostly you can be very proud of Chris and Ray.
