Chicken breast, red beans & rice, sweet plantains and a side salad

I stopped by Rincon Nica a few days back when my car was in a nearby auto shop (ah, the joys as cars as get older.) My mobility was limited, and needed some sustenance within walking distance and you can never go wrong with pollo a la plancha and moros. Tucked away in a strip mall on West 16th Avenue, Rincon Nica doubles as a lounge / club (based on what my waitress mentioned). That was actually the extent of my interaction, as she spent most of her time chatting with a friend (coworker?) who had stopped by. I ordered my usual pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken). The taste was pretty good, but the portion was a little on the small side. The beans and rice was gallo pinto (red beans and rice) rather than the black beans of cuban places. The sweet plantains had the right amount of sweetness and crisp. Instead of flan, they had a tres leches with plenty of meringue, a cherry and fluffy texture. In addition to a sit down meal, they also sell sodas and other food products from Nicaragua. Ican probably see myself giving it a higher rating if I come by in the weekend for their nightclub scene.

Food tastes as if someone's grandmother made it ! :) the carne asada is always fresh, the gallo pinto is amazing. Not your regular fritanga much better quality.

I've driven by here so many times and never tried it, wish I would've done so sooner! Friendly atmosphere, the food is amazing, everything is fresh and delicious ! Will definitely be coming more often when craving some carne asada!

My first check in here but I was a little disappointed. The "Toña" beer was not cold. I ordered pollo and vegetables soup and it was very colored and it was also greasy...... My friend ordered carne asada and he said it was ok.... The Naca Tamal we shared was good... He had the pork that was in it. If I come back I might try the carne asada since I saw in the reviews it was the best in this place.....

I still love this place. Great service and prices. Home cooked Nicaraguan food. The quesillo is delicious. Ask for the red beans and white rice instead of gallo pinto.

Ordered Carne Asada, they over cooked the steak. Sent it back, they overcooked it again a second time. Friendly waitress. More expensive than your typical Nicaraguan restaurant. They had a DJ playing music but not singing.

Perfectly grilled flank steak with shrimps, white rice, fried plantain slices, fried cheese, and house salad.

Though they have a preset menu for corporate type events, our boss was generous enough to let us select off the open menu. The decor is made to look like the inside of a hacienda with the tile roofs and stucco columns (yes you tell I'm a structural engineer :) The music was mostly 80s ballads, and service was very attentive. They even brought one of the desserts with a candle for a colleague's birthday, and took our group's photo. We started with a couple of baskets of buttered herbed Cuban bread and dipping chimichurri, as well as an appetizer sampler including refried beans, fried cheese and tequenos. The fried cheese was served on a little piece of pita bread and is a must try. I also enjoyed the refried bean soup, especially when dipped with plantain chips. As far as my main course, everyone knows how much I love cows! I enjoyed a sizable piece of churrasco, juicy even at medium well, sweet plantains and moros (here they serve it with red beans instead of black beans) and crispy house-made plantain chips. The Tres leches was also very fluffy, with a lot of cream and perfect enough to send me to a nice little after lunch nap. I also washed it down with Cortadito.

It was on a Friday night and they had live music playing with was nice for the occasion. With our pre-selected menu, we ordered a glass of Cabernet, their house salad (very vinegary!!! A tad bit too much in my personal opinion), and for entree the 8 oz baby tenderloin churrasco. (Shout out to one of our waiters! I didn't catch her name but she was honest with the menu recommendations and advised us to order the baby tenderloin churrasco which was a hit!). The mariquitas kept on coming around the table and we were stuffed. Another perk was how fast the service was. Even with our large group, we barely waited in between courses. If you want good Hispanic food on the fly, this is your place.
