Came in wanting some food but noticed it was busy so instead went to the register for a colada. Was immediately ignored and was attempting to be patient with the staff. I saw customers who showed up after me get served right at the register. Others even got their espresso immediately as I was in front of them. I walked out of the store when I realized I wasn't going to get serviced but other than that the seating area and booths were comfy looking and was very clean as well. read more

Good nica food in the area. I ordered for picky through Yelp/Grubhub. It was quick and easy. Carne asada was very tasty the portion came with maduros, their usual rice and beans, and the vinagre salad pretty good and big portion- it was good for two of us. Service was good too and everyone inside the restaurant was wearing a mask, unless they were eating. read more

The food is mediocre, their prices don't reflect the serving sizes, most of the staff struggles to maintain professionalism and they don't know how to regulate their attitude to provide good service. Just today one of the workers mocked the way I was speaking by mimicking my tone and body language. She then proceeded to give me two pieces of meat for the carne con papa plate when I've gotten four before. The woman who served me has glasses and is a regular employee. If you don't give a big enough tip, even if it's just for carry out, they will scorn you and treat you differently. The whole staff is miserable, including the owner, and the food really just isn't worth the experience. Very straightforward grab and go fritanga in Country Club. There's a few tables located in the restaurant that you can sit and eat your food if you'd like, but most people take out and there is no table service. The employees always keep the place nice and maintained, and are always super happy to give great service. The highlights are the fact that they have fresh tortillas, super finely shred repollo, and the best nacatamal out of all the NW dade fritangas. Compared to the "other" very famous fritanga off the gratigny, I personally think that the restaurant is cleaner, nicer, and has amazing food. This is so perfect for any time I want something comforting but very affordable. My husband and I spend about $20 for the both of us and we are stuffed! I had a take out order that I made in store. I don't speak very much spanish but the young lady helping me was helpful and we got through it together. I had carne asada, white rice, sweet plantains, pasta salad, and a chicharron. Everything was good except for the pasta salad. In my opinion pasta salad should always be served chilled. This was room temperature, which makes me personally nervous about food borne illness, so I had one bite and didn't continue. read more

Staff is completely unprofessional and dont even know the pricing on food, if you call over phone to place order record them when they tell you how much it is because this establishment tries to scam you by charging you more. Knowing there wrong there egos dont allow them to fix the problem, they completely ruined my day i really hope karma exists and shuts down this awful establishment. read more

So disappointed with the food here lately.. this use to be the place for nica food around this area. I own a business around here and this was the place for me to grab food at least twice a week. Not happening anymore!! My usual order is carne asada( salty ) gallo pinto ( overcooked and not much flavor to it) they didn't add my salad and forgot the chimichurri as well. The staff is super rude and not helpful at all. The place needs some mayor cleaning and remodeling read more

I really enjoyed lengua (cow tongue), the queso frito, the platanitos, and the gallo pinto. The carbe asada was pretty okay, I've had better though. The ensalada de repollo was not that juicy, but maybe some people like it more dry. The service was amazing though, pretty quick and the server was very sweet. This place is a classic! read more

This place is nothing how it used to be. First of all very shady to not put the prices on the menu. Then there is a scan and supposedly it "works" sometimes but did not come up at all. This place has truly changed from not fully cooking their carne asada to taking off sides from the original plate to make you pay extra now. They have minimized their sizes to half of what it used to be. Never coming back again. Very disappointing. read more

First of, the owner is rude and several of the workers. Second, the cleanliness is nonexistent. They keep used spoons to serve all day in the same water. When they wipe down the area with a cloth they do it with the same murky cloth and don't care if it touches the food. And third, I had a simple special request and they seem very bothered by it even though it was health related. Also the bakery is shady with no expiration dates and no label of who makes it because they certainly don't. Oh well. I tried but honestly the only thing I would get from this place is the tres leches and any bottled drink because it's the only thing they don't make. Also came across this video from a previous review. Yeah disgusting! read more

Congratulations for making it on the local Channel 10 news DIRTY DINING. Lots of video of food being prepared outside in the alley way, being cut on an old packing box that is laid across the top of a trash can. The back door to the kitchen wide open for roaches, bugs, mice and more to come in. More food is seen just sitting in an uncovered container on the floor. Disgusting! Contaminated! Want PROOF? Almost every week I need to stop by for the carne asada for my kids, they love it and also the simple white rice is delicious. The staff are very friendly and always help you with your order. My fiancee and I were visiting my parents in Florida and we decided to stop by here for dinner. My father is Nicaraguan and very picky when it comes to cleanliness and ambience. When we entered, the seating area was pretty clean. There was a long line of people, which immediately is a tell tale sign that the food must be pretty good! Their set up is similar to that of Chipotle, where you go down the line selecting the foods you want. I ordered gallo pinto with salmon, fried cheese, plantains and salad (ensalada de repollo). The food was VERY good. I would have taken a picture, but I was so involved in eating that it completely slipped my mind. My fiancee is a notorious talker-while-eating and we did not hear a single peep from him almost the entire time we were there! They also serve big portions. None of us finished our own orders which is ok because 1) yay leftovers! and 2) you really get a good amount for what you're paying. Overall, I recommend this place if you're in the area and looking to eat some Nicaraguan food! It's authentic and really hit the spot, especially when I personally haven't had a real Nicaraguan meal in months. Also, I recommend trying out their cacao beverage-- it's comparable to horchata, but chocolatey. read more

I am Nicaraguan so naturally I love this food. I always get salpicon (boiled beef) or baked chicken from here. The food has never disappointed me. The service however is another story. If you are ordering via UberEats or delivery, PLEASE call and confirm the order. They mess up the orders 85% of the time. read more

Terrible Customer service. Came here and waited for over 10 minutes anyone's attention but it didn't seem to bother them. There was a lack of food and the food that was there was there for a long time under heat lamps just drying out and mixing with other food. So much attitude when I would ask about anything. Never knew this place was even in this shopping center and I've been in the area sooo many times! We were in the mood for Fritanga, but it was also late for a Sunday night.. very friendly and sweet staff. The food was great! Got here about 30 minutes before closing so they had already run out of certain foods like sweet plantains, we were the last customers before they also ran out of carne asada and fried cheese so we lucked out.. make sure you make it before closing time. We ordered our food to go, still fresh and delicious by the time we made it home! Clean, with lots of sitting space if you decide to eat there. I'll definitely be returning. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for 5+ years... today will be my last. Rice was flavorless & the meat was blood red, not even pinkish. Bought 3 completas (gallo pinto rice, the carne, maduros and cheese) my 20 min drive was not worth it. I called to ask the manager what was going on. She wanted to tell me I had the wrong number. When I told her I was there today and no I don't have the wrong number she responded with "que quieres". She wanted to argue with me that the price I paid was wrong ($12.99) per food order. She constantly told me I paid $12.25 per food container. And told me what I wanted her to do about it. That I didn't know what nica food tasted like. The whole conversation was not respectful and full of attitude. And utter disgust. read more

We love Nica food and this is the only Nicaraguan restaurant by here. The carne asada is always fresh and full of flavor. It's also relatively inexpensive for the amount of food you are getting. The carne asada combo is $8. All the girls that work there are always super nice. And they deliver!!!! read more

Oh man, I LOVE this place! I usually go crazy for Cuban food in Miami, but my good friend Leo suggested that we check out this hole in the wall Nicaraguan place. MAN I LOVE IT! I'm a big fan of Nica food now, and I'm looking for a place like this in LA now! We stopped by La Hormiga de Oro for breakfast on a protein day, so I got carne asada, chorizo and egg, and fried cheese with fried bananas. Holy shit, this place was sooo good! And cheap too! The fried cheese was served on a little piece of pita bread and is a must try. I also enjoyed the refried bean soup, especially when dipped with plantain chips. As far as my main course, everyone knows how much I love cows! I enjoyed a sizable piece of churrasco, juicy even at medium well, sweet plantains and moros (here they serve it with red beans instead of black beans) and crispy house-made plantain chips. The Tres leches was also very fluffy, with a lot of cream and perfect enough to send me to a nice little after lunch nap. I also washed it down with Cortadito.
