Crepas de Cajeta
Gerardo D.

One of our favorite places in Cuernavaca, it's a solid steak house. My favorite dish is the Arrachera (same cut as fajitas, without the Tex-Mex treatment). The beef soup was excellent. My filet mignon was very tasty. Everyone loved the provoleta and chistorra (Spanish chorizo sausage). For something unique, get the chapulines - fried grasshoppers - delicious in a tortilla with some lime. For dessert, the Crepas de Cajeta, made from scratch next to your table (the Cajeta part), were extraordinary. As a proper steak house, it is on the pricey side, but still reasonable. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Good service (a bit on thew slow side) and valet parking. They sometimes have live music. Breakfast is always delicious at Rincon del Bife too.

I have nothing bad to say about this meal - it was amazing from start to finish. The location of…read morethis restaurant is very convenient if you're in the Polanco neighborhood, which was why we chose it (sheer laziness), but it turned out to be a great choice overall. Cambalache is an Argentine steakhouse, which is reflected in the style of grilling their meats (over an open flame, which can be viewed at the back of the restaurant), and the service of the meat itself (a La plancha, at the table). We chose the ribeye (600-700g) to share. It was perfectly cooked to medium temperature, and sliced for us tableside. A beautiful cut of meat, and very flavorful. The side dishes were tasty, too (the soufflé potatoes are a signature, and they're fun to try/share). Speaking of tableside prep, I highly recommend saving room for the strawberries Romanoff - our server spent about 20 minutes whipping a combination of vanilla Haagen Dazs, Grand Marnier, cream, and fresh-sliced strawberries into a fluffy concoction that was divinely yummy. Our youngest diner insisted on coming back to Cambalache a second time, a week later, just to have it again. It's not on the regular postre menu, so be sure to ask your server about it.
