We travel to/from Texas/CA often. We always stop here for coffee after an overnight stay in the general area. I found this place after my first Yelp selection was closed due to a power outage. It has been the best experience since. Today we met the owner/operator, Claudia. She shared her personal story about how she came here to the U.S. her struggles to accomplish her dreams. What an amazing woman. What a beautiful spirit. Now, if you don't subscribe to the overall energy and hospitality of a place, and only care about the food/drinks, you're still going to love this place. The coffee is delicious. The coffee drinks are lovingly crafted. The food?!? Just like I remember, growing up in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood in San Diego. Portion sizes are perfect. Flavors are on par for traditional dishes. Whether you are staying at the casita to enjoy your meal and a drink, or waiting for a to-go order, browse the traditional trinkets from Mexico that are for sale. But most importantly, connect with the people that keep the doors open for all to enjoy. The hospitality is indicative of the heritage. Thank you Claudia for forging the path and bringing this slice of heaven to Mesilla. Dios lo bendiga

I stumbled upon this little coffee shop while walking around downtown Mesilla. The interior looked super cute and featured art and jewelry for sale. It was nice to walk around while waiting for my order. I ended up ordering an iced mocha with oat milk. When I tried it I was honestly surprised by how good it was. Definitely the best mocha I've had in as long as I can remember. It wasn't overly sweet and you could tell the coffee was really high-quality. I savored every last sip of my drink. I tried their red tamales, and we ended up ordering another round and completely finishing all the red tamales they had left...that's how good they were! I will definitely come back here. Service was amazing. Food was delicious. Coffee was phenomenal. I can't recommend trying this place enough!

A wonderful, delicious historic restaurant and coffee shop. Both the red and green tamales were excellent, the Cafe con Leche and latte were perfect. Many New Mexican artisan crafts to buy. The staff were warm and gracious. We will be back.

Love the food and service here. Such a neat place to see. We had the red and green chilaquiles, definitely recommend.

We got everything to go and it was outstandingly delicious. Here's what we tried: -Pastel en hoja that's filled with sauteed eggplant. it's masa is made with plantains and/ or other tubers, then cooked in plantain/ green banana leaf. It was delicious. -Mofongo. We got Mofongo solo without meat- A dish made from fried and mashed green plantains and garlic sauce. It's so far the best mofongo I have ever had. The pieces of fried green plantains were super freshly fried and the mofongo had strong garlic flavors. Vegetable empanada: To our surprise the vegetables were loose inside and were pickled/ tart which was delicious. The empanada dough was so fresh and so delicious and we both felt we never had such a seriously good and fresh empanada. This place made a super strong start to a food-er trip! Very vegan and vegetarian friendly. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! It's a great coffee spot for friends, dates or work/business. Parking is easy - free surface lot. Staff is always really friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Inside theres couches, tables, bar tops, and lots of outlets if you want to get some work done. Outside is bright, open, and honestly super cute. They import their coffee beans straight from PR, so you know you're getting the real deal. Service was on the slower side, but hey... good things take time.
