Ordered two of the specials. lemon Chicken breast with mashed potatoes and broccoli and pasta with chicken. The very small chopped up chicken was so hard and dry it was inedible. The kitchen offered another piece of chicken which was about 1/3 of a normal chicken breast and was overcooked but edible. I didn't eat the Luke warm mashed or broccoli. My wife's pasta was a small amount of spaghetti which had similar dry chicken on it. Best part of the meal were the soft pretzels and stuffed tater tots. Bill included 3 cocktails. The $152. Bill included a tip. Not worth it. Service was good. Food not so much. read more

Extremely Disappointing!!!! This was our second visit to Riley's Place, and the other reviews pointing out food quality are accurate. Two soups + burger + Mac and cheese w/ bbq chicken + tip and NO drinks = $70! The food was below mediocre! There is no way that Mac and cheese with BBQ chicken should have been $24.95! I have no issue paying higher prices for quality food, however what was served was NOT quality food. No flavor, and bland!!! Service was OK, Ambiance was OK. Perhaps this is a good place to have a drink and listen to music, however we will not be returning. read more

Friends and I went to see the music entertainment and try some food. We arrived early and found most tables had been reserved! I didn't think that was an option, will do if I decide to go back. Our server was Rebecca, major disappointment. I ordered some pretzel sticks as an appetizer, and my friend and I ordered the chicken quesadilla all at the same time. That was a mistake as I thought we would at least get the appetizer first, nope came with the meal. Took forever to get our food and drinks. I eventually asked for a beer and was given the wrong one. I told her and she offered to go back and check. I told her never mind as at that point it had been 45 MINUTES to get a beer!!! When my friend finished her soda and was asked if she wanted anything else she said water which was then poured into her soda glass. Our waitress was very flighty and took forever for everything. My friend paid her bill. When I was ready to pay she gave me a piece of paper to write down what I ordered. WHAT??????? I'm not sure I'd go back. This place is horrible for food and the entertainment wasn't much better. The service was some of the worse I've ever experienced. The owner doesn't seem to care either. I'm wondering if she's doing drugs. Do yourself a favor, go to Giorgio's. You'll love the food and ambiance. read more

Made the trip to Riley's last Sunday for their Blues Music Sunday. You would never know it was a restaurant/bar just by driving by. It looks like an old farm house. It's a two level venue with a bar up top and high tables and a stage and low seated tables down bottom. Really cute place. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. Drinks were reasonably priced and great food selection. So fun to eat and listen to people jamming to blues music. I got the pulled pork on their homemade cheddar biscuits. AMAZING! I didn't know there were three sliders, so I had leftovers for the next days lunch. I'd highly suggest taking a trip on a Sunday to check it out. They also have a large outdoor seating area in the back. read more

Staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the "bucket of bones" to go after a friend had one in house and said it was good. My wife got French onion soup and half a sandwich as well. Big mistake. The ribs, although good, had about a teaspoon of sauce with them. The wings were as dry as I have ever seen, with absolutely no flavor. It seemed like the fries were done first and immediately put into a to go container to steam up and get good and soggy. Literally had a bite or two of each and threw the rest away. My wife didn't touch the sandwich, but the soup was awful. Yet another flavorless selection. It's also food service 101 that when french onion soup is ordered to go, you don't put the croutons in it. When we got it home it was essentially warm brown water with decomposed bread. Feels like maybe it was an end of the night, don't care just want to go home situations in the kitchens. Great Music place but that's it, not good for food. We found the staff friendly but the bartender was more interested in the gossip with the regulars than paying attention to the people waiting to order a drink The room for music is wonderful with great sound and they have dedicated sound engineers helping the bands. Gave Riley's a second try, sadly worse than the first. The food is just not very good, ribs were bland and rubbery, fries were ok the wings were dry but at least had some flavor. Service was slow and inattentive. read more

We've been to Riley's several times - a few months after they opened again recently for dinner. This is a quaint venue for live music with a warm interior. Good for a night out and a few drinks. They have a busy schedule throughout the week, The food and service have been underwhelming. We've tried a variety of options - the best item on the menu, in our experience, were the wings. On our first visit, I ordered the mac-n-cheese with pulled pork. The meat tasted like it was frozen and re-heated, the cheese sauce was gritty and bland. The cajun wings were cooked well and flavorful. The fellow next to us ordered jambalaya and it resembled a simple rice and beans dish, I did not notice any meat or seafood. On our second visit, the wife ordered a pulled chicken sandwich. It had a few small pieces of chicken on a bun, definitely not pulled, and less meat than a very small chicken breast. The sandwich contained more coleslaw than meat, she did not finish her meal (the fries stole the show). The BBQ beef 'cheesesteak bomb' contained larger pieces if fat , was chewy, and lacked flavor. I was not able to taste or see the cheese. We had to ask for plates, silverware, sauces, water, and napkins. The server never checked on our meal nor asked if we needed drink refills. And it definitely was not busy when we arrived and ordered our meals. Great location and nice setup - we wish them the best and hope they can work out the kinks. read more

I want to like this place because of the location and outdoor patio, but I'm giving up on trying. We've been a few times, the last was a year ago. We went earlier tonight and got let down again. For starters, out of white wine completely. Note: It was 5pm on a Saturday when we sat down. Also, it's one thing if you're out of something, you caveat seating your guests with that very important statement "no white wine" prior to getting them a table. This continued with food items we tried to order. PLEASE train your staff to share this info first thing, otherwise your serving will be spending 3x the time taking orders while they wait for people to search through the menu again. We got the appetizer sampler which was actually pretty good. Only thing is the wings were supposed to be dry rubbed but were completely flavorless. I ordered the pulled pork sliders which were supposed to come on cheddar biscuits -- they came on Hawaiian rolls and it was never even mentioned to me. Kids Mac and cheese had no flavor, fries had zero salt on them, everyone's burgers tasted like dry hockey pucks. I ordered a chocolate cake to go for dessert and when I got home and took a bite I basically had to spit it out. The frosting was gummy and hard as if it had been sitting in a fridge exposed to air for AWHILE - and it tasted like it too! I have met the owner who is super nice and love supporting local businesses, but you can't just open a restaurant if you don't know how to run one. Please hire yourself a general manager to figure out all of the kinks, another chef, and keep this beautiful place alive. read more

I stopped in at Riley's Place, located at The Colonel Shepard House in Milford, which opened recently. This restaurant and bar is pretty low key and has that roadhouse feel. There's a full bar area with seating at the bar, dart board,  an adjacent dining room with tables and a performance stage with big speakers for live music, karaoke and open mic (Tuesday night). There's also outdoor seating too.  They serve up Cajun style comfort food, appetizers, bagel sandwiches (Bagel Alley), hot dogs, and ice cream & shakes for dessert. The bar offers beer, IPAs, cocktails, and mixed drinks. As I walked in, the place was moderately busy on a Friday evening and I could sit anywhere I wanted. I found a table next to the stage which they were setting up for karaoke, and folk rock music was playing from the speakers. A server from the bar came over to give me menus to look at as I decided. I ordered some Pulled Pork Nachos ($13.99 plus tax) and the Jambalaya ($14 plus tax) served with cornbread. The food took a while to come out since they were so busy. The food arrived together. The Jambalaya was a spicy rice dish which had a tomato base, spicy sausage, chicken, onions, peppers mixed in with firm rice. The jalapeno corn bread was very firm and not sweet. The pulled pork nachos had warm crunchy corn chips topped with melted cheese, tender sweet BBQ pulled pork, tomato salsa, onion, black olives, jalapenos, and sour cream on the side. The portions were individual sized, so I was able to finish up my dinner in house. I skipped dessert, which was mainly ice cream and sundaes offered. The dinner check for one was $30.34 with tax and before tip.  Overall, the food here tasted pretty good. The service was a bit delayed on this visit. I enjoyed the laid back vibe here, though the place was slightly loud with a combination of the music playing and the crowds of other patrons chattering. read more

The only saving grace is that they had a great band playing and it was a good crowd. Otherwise, quality of food and service was the worst that we have experienced in a long time. If it were not for the band, we would have walked out within 10 minutes. Tito's and lemonade was served as Tito's and OJ. When stated it was to be lemonade, the server brought a glass of lemonade- no Tito's. 3rd time was the charm. How about some champagne (2 nights b4 NYE) - sorry, all out of champagne. The food - just gross. A really funky tasting hamburger - inedible by any standard. Salad with grilled chicken - hard to screw up right? Nope, dried out chicken was inedible. Can you bring a pitcher of water for the table? Nope - all out of pitchers. The server was never properly trained and did not know how to perform their job. The owners should be beyond embarrassed. It is not difficult to serve good food - start with fresh ingredients, train your servers and treat patrons as welcomed guests. I actually had one member of the waitstaff comment "this is the worst night ever". When asked why, they said the patrons were being unreasonable and disrespectful. Another waiter came to our table and started their ask with "to make my job easier...". When is it the guests role to make the staffs job easier. If the owners served quality food and trained their staff, everyone would be happy. Unfortunately, this place won't survive - despite the music and hometown ambience they can offer. read more

Love the architecture and live music. Very limited draft beer selection and terrible food. I read the reviews before coming and played it safe by ordering nachos. Nicest thing I can say is they were cooked just right. Super stingy on the veggies: mayne 1/10 of a pepper and 1/10 of an onion, and so little cheese that half of the plate was just plain tortilla chips. I was still hungry so tried what I hoped to be the next safest item: buffalo wings. They were even stingier with the buffalo sauce than they were with the veggies; almost none. I love supporting local business and really wanted to like this place, but if you're looking for good bar food and beer, this isn't the place. read more

As far as the music they don't have a quality band rotation. At least 35 bands in 6 months. The so-called comfort food is less than good with no consistency. The food portions were small, overpriced & cold. The table service was not good and it took too long to serve cold food.
