They exploited my elderly step mum living on her own. The toilet flush was constantly running. Concerned not knowing somebody she looked in the local free paper and found right on heating and plumbing thinking it was a local company. First hours charge was £150 plus VAT. The plumber came out said it was an only cistern, said he needed to travel to Derby for the parts (from Ripley) which was not required. He completely bodged it with the flat screw under the push button. Total charge £530! These people exploit the vulnerable. read more

I had a leak from the stop tap in the kitchen and found this company through a local magazine - very misleading as I discovered later that they were not local to me at all but based in Birmingham, despite calling a local number. The engineer arrived a couple of days later (despite initially being booked in for the same day) and in less than a minute refused to undertake any work as he said he could not gain enough access to do the job saying "I don't do cupboards" - he took longer to park his van!. Despite this, I was still charged over £160 for a "diagnosis" - one that I had made! As the leak was getting worse, I contacted another plumber who came out within a couple of hours and fixed the issue promptly and without any issues. Despite asking for a refund from Rightio as absolutely no work was carried out, I had to wait over 2 weeks for a reply to emails and phone calls and have finally been refused a refund, with the company saying they always challenge any action taken against them - sounds like a regular occurrence. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - if you take the time to read the reviews, you will see that they are like a rash all over the internet - even appearing on national TV on The One Show! read more

If I could give minus points I really would! The most dreadful service we've ever experienced. We were charged an extortionate amount for what was supposed to be an emergency call out for a leak. The plumber was supposed to come out within 2 hours and they cancelled and re arranged for the next day, although we were still charged for the emergency service. The plumber was beyond rude to my 71 year old mother, also telling her to switch the water on and off (having to go underneath floorboards on her hands and knees to do so!). They didn't introduce themselves, were incredibly rude throughout the whole visit and complained about the job throughout. The plumber said he had fixed the leak and left. The next day the leak was even worse and caused water damage to both the ceiling downstairs and cut the electrics. On calling them back we were told they only had one plumber for the whole of our area and that he didn't work over the weekend (this being advertised as an emergency service), leaving us for another 4 days without running water. When he finally came back he was once again very rude simply stating that he knew what the problem was. After 2 minutes he said it was fixed with no explanation and went to leave. I had to ask him what the issue had been and what work he had done to fix the problem. He then said 'I didn't screw the pipe in properly'. There was no apology, no manners or decency and once again he was very rude to my mother. All in all we were left with water damage due to him not tightening the bolts, more money having to be spent on an electrician after the ongoing leak blew the electrics and an extortionate amount paid (hundreds) for a 5 minute unsuccessful job. We raised a complaint with the company who didn't get back to us for 4 weeks and when they finally did they said they're managers had reviewed our complaint and had decided they had done nothing wrong. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Absolutely disgraceful, taking advantage of and ripping off vulnerable pensioners! read more

TOTAL COWBOY CON ARTISTS BEWARE!! These fraudsters attended my parents house on 26th September and charged £220 for a small bathroom leak. This was early evening so an "out of hours" call but still extortionate given all they did was rip a couple of tiles off to expose a pipe that needed replacement. The following day they attended during normal working hours and charge a disgusting £305 per hour to fit the new water pipe. Total bill for that day was £420! So well overall £600 for an extremely straightforward job. I queried the bills with customer service who are equally as useless as they have asked my parents for proof of what has been taken out of their account knowing full well what they had charged. This is because Rightio take bank card details when customers first make contact and then actually take the money automatically without customer consent. Despite emails and telephone calls from both myself and my parents they have still not responded and any contact has been with a different person each time. This organisation should be investigated by the appropriate parties as their business practices fall well below any level of standards or fair charging policies. I am currently in discussions with Trading Standards who are very interested having received a number of other complaints. Please DO NOT USE THEM unless you want to get totally and utterly ripped off! read more

Don't ignore these reviews. Taking card details before a final quote is given should have been a huge red flag, but we could not find another plumber at short notice. The initial quote was £147+VAT for what should be a quick-fix job. As soon as the plumber left (after only half an hour), £285 was taken from my account. We were never told the cost of the parts before the work was carried out and we did not agree to pay an extortionate amount of £90 for a basic flush valve. Needless to say, I won't be taking them up on £20 Off voucher for the "next visit" or the £50 draw entry for a good review. read more

Flood in our office. They cut off or water and charged us for a part to be fitted the next day. 8 days later we are still waiting for them to come back and fit the new part that they had already taken payment for. Rude customer service department. read more

Rightio sent a heating engineer to assess my boiler and he recommended a repair that would have cost hundreds of pounds. I discovered later that his assessment was wrong - a competent engineer later fixed my boiler without replacing the part that Rightio had said was at fault. I emailed Rightio sending them a full description of what had happened and setting out how their engineer's behaviour had left me and my children without heating and hot water for 4 days. They did not respond but 2 months later sent me a letter threatening me with debt collectors. I took legal advice and I am clear that Rightio failed to meet the standards required under the Consumer Rights Act of 2015. I contacted Rightio repeatedly but never received an explanation. Their 'customer experience' agent ghosted me and I received a further letter threatening me with court. I have the email trail, copies of letters and a log of the phone calls that I made as evidence. The only time that Rightio have initiated contact is to demand payment. Although I was clear that I had a case, as an NHS doctor and a single mum I finally decided that it was quicker and easier to pay them - I believe that they use bullying tactics as they are just happy to get the money and have no care as to whether they have provided good service or not. I've seen that they have caused similar problems for many other customers and that they were also written up in the Guardian in 2020 for overcharging an elderly woman during lockdown. I should also say - their hourly rate of £174 was nearly twice as much as the competent plumber who eventually fixed my boiler. My advice - avoid at all costs read more

After numerous call outs to our boiler which had an fault, and then causing a gas leak, they have now said that we need to get someone else to fix it! Which is amazing when that what we are paying them for!! Then we were told there was nothing wrong with the boiler so they wont attend .... This was 3 hours after they are due and a signed worksheet last time that specified the problem. So I then emailed customer services to complain, and guess what?! They don't reply to the email. AWFUL and AVOID at all costs !! read more

Asked for a service on boiler, they said it was free unless work was required. No work was required and they sent a bill for £140. When I challenged this they threatend me with been taken to court. AVOID AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HASTLE. read more

Despite repeated promises and card details been given we were left locked outside on a cold winter evening. Eventually after several attempts to ascertain when we could expect the locksmith (some 2+ hours after the initial call) we received a message saying we should contact another locksmith as they would not be able to respond to our booking. Appalling service. read more

Untrained, overpriced, and abusive. We called Rightio for a trivially simple job, disconnecting an old radiator we wanted to get rid of. They said it would take less than an hour and cost £139. The plumber they sent didn't know a thing! He wasted a full hour figuring out how to shut the water off (waving off our attempts to just tell him), then spent all of 15 minutes removing the radiator and capping the pipes, then wasted another hour struggling to re-pressure the boiler, even though, and I quote "I've never seen one like this, I don't know how it works." We've re-pressured it before, we tried to tell him he was doing it wrong, but he got stubborn and abusive. He never did get it to work either, we just managed to get him out of the room. As a result, they tried to charge us for THREE HOURS, £450. I tried to dispute it, but the plumber refused to leave until we had settled the bill and grew increasingly agitated and abusive: yelling at us, shouting at the phone from a distance as we tried to speak to Rightio staff, even knocking over the coffee we made him splashing the whole wall. We ended up agreeing to the still-extortionate figure of £352 just to get him out of the house before he escalated any further. In summary, if you like watching a 15 minute job spun into a 3 hour one, paying 3 times as much for half the job done, and feeling frightened and threatened, then by all means go with Rightio! read more

I booked via Rightio for an electrician... I booked via Rightio for an electrician to do a safety check on a house before we completed on it. The booking itself was easy to do via telephone. I was assured the job would be completed within an hour, maximum 2 hours (as I would be charged per hour of work). I was shocked with the final price (almost double of what I was expecting)- the electrician had apparently stayed for 2 hours and 30 minutes, and they charged me for a full 3 hours. When I then said that was not our agreement, the girl on the phone said to me "that's fine, if you don't pay up, I'll take this straight to the debt collector" (of course, we paid). I retrospectively wish I had gotten things in writing. We were lucky this occurred the way it did (being charged for an extra hour), as opposed to having hired them to do a big job for us where the consequences would have been bigger financially. I then waited for the report to come through. I was on night shifts and yet phoning up & chasing daily. Each person I spoke to told me different things, no consistency between answers and no one was taking responsibility. Overall, the customer service was poor (apart from final person who took control of the issue who managed to actually sort it and I had the report a full week later). The report itself had errors in it and I had to have the electrician amend things afterwards, so I really hope I will not have issues with the electric safety in our new house now. read more

Totally unreliable. I made an appointment at 7.10am in the morning and was given a slot for 10am to 2pm. They didn't turn up. I phoned at 2.30pm and they said no plumber was available and that they were "due to phone me" to tell me this news. Avoid like the plague. This was job number 605 6315 read more

I would AVOID this company!! Their customer care is abysmal and their charges exhorbitant. Firstly, I have to say that the plumber who did the work on my boiler was very good - professional and knowledgable and I trust the quality of his work. He advised us that we should arrange the draining of the boiler ourselves because it would take a long time and his hourly charges were very high. He ordered the new elements and said he'd come back the next day when the draining was complete. The next day the so-called - customer care team phoned to say that they wouldn't be sending anyone out and that someone would come the following day instead at some time in the afternoon. So 24 hours + without any water at all. The next day they phoned to say the plumber had an emergency at home so wouldn't be coming until the following day!! Turns out he was never going to be available on that second day - it was a day booked off not an emergency. So four days from the callout to the final fix. The team that 'organises' the work is dreadful - they lie, fail to take notes of actions agreed and mess around the plumbing engineers as well as the customers. They are not knowledgeable. I used this service because I wanted an emergency quick fix and was therefore prepared to pay the high fees. In retrospect I should have looked for a good local plumber and waited until he was available! I paid around £450 for a couple of hours work! read more

Don't trust these people!! 10 days after original call still waiting for boiler repair! Apparently engineer was " onsite" with me today - when I denied it they checked further and he was in bed, at home, sick! Last engineer dismantled boiler and promised to be back next day!!! 4 days ago - so no CH or hot water for 4 days. I had hot water until the engineer called:-( read more

firstly they use a local phone no.They are not local ,they are based in Birmingham. Secondly they ask for credit card details..dont... just don't!!! The engineer arrived at 11.35 am.He immediately asked me to sign in his time, which I did. He removed cistern cover and said the fill valve was leaking. I asked him to get one and he replied that they were difficult to get and advised that I send a pic to geberit for the part and could fix it myself! I then asked him to remove the fill valve and show me the part. He said " if I touch it then this is chargeable" .I was amazed that he would not get the part and he left 8 mins later having done nothing to fix my problem. He told me quite categorically, with my wife as witness, that there would be no charge. I found his conduct quite remarkable! Fixit yourself!! He did not leave me a job sheet ,I did not expect one. Being a senior citizen ,I have had many experiences with plumbers but never anything quite like this . He didn't do any work and didn't even replace the cistern cover.Informed customer "excellence" dept(what a joke) said it would take 28 days to investigate! Of course they have no intention of refunding my £130 perhaps because the company has recently had a winding up order owing HMRC over £1 mill.and have now entered a corporate voluntary arrangement to pay them at £15k amonth. No wonder their charges are so high. Wrote to CEO..no reply Karma will get you in the end,Mr CEO read more

I agree that you should avoid this company as their charges are exorbitant They ask for your card detail before work is completed and in our case charged twice the price indicated . We were advised a rate of £109 + vat per hour but were not advised they would bill for a minimum of 1 hour .Our work took 30mins and we were billed for a full hours work .We suspect we were charged double the VAT on tap units supplied . we complained and were eventually told we would receive a reply within 28 days which never happened . They ignored further request for a reply . read more

The engineer that attended our property was professional, efficient and we've had no issues since. He was also very patient and kind with my 2 year old daughter who kept asking questions and interrupting the process. Very good customer service. read more

My dealings with Rightio are the worst experience in dealing with any company or institution throughout my whole life! Following a routine service of our gas boiler in September we decided after advice from the engineer to undergo a powerflush for 2 non functioning radiators at a cost of £820.This was performed and all radiators except 1 initially worked adequately for the first day. However within a few days 5 radiators were not functioning properly. The engineer was recalled and after 2nd visit suggested the pump was not powerful for the house and a quote of £576 was given. We decided to proceed following this advice but the same problems arose immediately following this. A magnaflush was then performed .The radiators worked normally for 24hrs but within 1 week 5 radiators were barely or not working! 4 of these radiators had worked entirely normally before our initial powerflush! In discussions with Mr Fitzgerald and logistics at Rightio headquarters they have suggested that the pipes are too small, our radiators which are 18yrs old in a new build house have corrosion and need replacing or that there is a blockage in the pipes and pipes behind walls need replacing at more added cost. At no time has any engineer visiting our house suggested the radiators need replacing! An independent engineer appointed by Rightio suggested a repeat powerflush. This assessment was disputed by Mr Fitzgerald who suggested a further assessment by a Rightio engineer. This service has been compounded by an appalling logistics and customers service department. Calls have not been answered. Promised replies within 24hrs were not forthcoming and dates set for engineer visits were cancelled without any communication. These cancellations were only found out on us ringing the company 2-3hrs after the expected time .We are currently financially worse off by £1396 ,a radiator system that is worse than prior to the powerflush ,exasperated and taking advice from the citizen advice service! read more

Total Process a dream Required a locksmith to change all locks on a new property. Engineer arrived as requested, explained the whole process prior to starting, kept us informed. Explained the pricing (less than thought). Cleaned up and completed everything through a tablet. Within 10 minutes I received emailed copy of all documentation and was exactly as promised. Total dream, no problem fro start to finish read more
