Horrible customer service. My daughter was so overwhelmed and disappointed with the instructor. She called the school to get proof of her first lesson and they told her they couldn't do that. I called and spoke with Sam and requested proof of her training so we can finish her hours with Quartz hill driving school. He said in order to re-activate her account with needed to pay $50 because she did not finish in 6 weeks lol. I was not asking to reactive her account, I was asking for proof of the training I already paid for and that she completed. Oh and might I add, that we were never informed that she needed to complete her classes within a certain time frame or their "activation" fee. Took their class in Lancaster years back, and had a decent experience until I took a driving lesson with the owner, Terry Carter. I was 17 years old back then, but that didn't stop him from being so condescending and rude while I was driving with him. At the end of that driving lesson, he told me I should invest in a bus ticket because I would not be getting my license for a long time. I don't understand how a manager and driving teacher could say that to a minor, instead of providing constructive criticism. I ignored his negative attitude and made an appointment at the DMV for a driving exam less than a week later and passed the DMV driving exam on my first try without a problem. It was then that I figured my driving wasn't the real issue here, but rather his antagonistic mannerisms towards his students. For reasons I cannot and will not understand, he favors some students over others, which is highly unprofessional if you've dedicated yourself to a field of teaching. I would not recommend Right Way Driving School to anyone in any capacity. read more

I rarely write reviews on Yelp unless it's necessary. Yesterday I met Terry for my behind the wheel lesson. I already failed twice so I decided to take a class to help me. When I read the bad reviews about him, I got a little anxious/nervous. But listen, in my experience with him, the comments weren't true. He was very professional, helpful, direct to the point, and you can really notice that he's been doing this for 25 years. He told me both my weaknesses and strengths. He told me things I need to improve on and gave me important tips to pass the exam. Today, I just finished my third try and I passed it. The class helped me so much. Thank you, Terry! My son went here for a DMV prep instruction and he passed his driving test the first time. They made him feel confident and gave him some excellent tips. Both my daughters went somewhere else however, I think I liked this driving school the best. I've been driving 35 years and they were able to teach my son exactly what he needed to pass. Terry taught me how to drive 23 years ago and I have yet to get a ticket or be involved in an at fault accident! I have since sent my children to this school and we are going on 4+ years of NO tickets and NO accidents. Right Way Driving School is a blessing to our children and I am thankful to Terry and this school for teaching my boys how to drive and now that my daughter will be going there I am super excited. She will walk away with all the skills and experience she needs to be great behind the wheel no matter what is thrown at her. Keep up the great work in this community Right Way and thank you! I just called shared my need and they made it work .. Soo in an emergency when cancelled my appointment last minute they plugged my daughter into the other location ... They just made it work !!! The owner, Terry is a terrible instructor! One of the first things he asked my daughter when they were in the car was where she had drivers ed. She told him she took it online and he told her that people who take drivers ed online don't learn anything. Hmmm she passed her test at the dmv, missing only 3, so she clearly learned something. He then proceeded to be very critical of everything she did, to the point of making her very frustrated. This was lesson #2. I am paying HIM to teach her how to drive! The first lesson was with a nice man named Craig. However, don't think you can use this school and just request Craig. They will allow you to request, but they won't guarantee it. And if a different person shows up at your door to pick up your child, you have to go with it! You have to give a 48 hour notice to cancel or change an appointment, but they can just send whoever they want without any notice to you. My daughter said she almost cried several times. She learned nothing on lesson #2. When Craig showed up to give her lesson #3 he asked her if she went on the freeway or practiced backing up. She had not. So Craig did all of that with her on her last lesson. He said she did great. Seriously folks, steer clear of Right Way! Your child should have a good experience. He/she should feel comfortable and safe. And I gave one star because 0 is not an option. read more

He is very rude I remember when I first started learning how to drive I did not know what I was doing and he told me "You're not even trying, you're an accident waiting to happen". I paid for one lesson and never went back. I had the "pleasure" with driving with Terry, the owner. There was no constructive criticism(more like destructive criticism), or positive feedback when I did procedures correctly. There was only cynical, snide remarks and belittling. He seemed to wait until after I had done something wrong to start bashing my skills instead of actively correcting my actions. Example: I was driving near a school with no children outside or present. At the time I was under the assumption that 25mph only applied to when children WERE present, so I drove the normal speed limit. After we were well past the school, Terry then proceeds to raise his voice at me to never do that again because, in his words: "Yes you WILL be pulled over, and yes YOU WILL be the one getting the ticket!" (um, you're my driving instructor, you're supposed to be actively correcting me so we won't get pulled over). Although I paid for a full hour, he brought me home 15 minutes early and proceeded to basically tell me I had a long way to go if I ever wanted to pass my behind the wheel test (Wrong. I passed it on the first try). I then had the pleasure of driving with his former mentor, Bud, who runs Budale Driving School. Bud confirmed to me that's really the way Terry is, so it's not just me. read more

The owner of Right Way Driving School is a TERRIBLE INSTRUCTOR, which is putting it mildly. My son just had his second driving lesson tonight, and I trusted this man to take my son out and teach him how to drive, but instead he criticized everything my son did, made him incredibly nervous and frustrated, and he learned absolutely nothing except that his driving instructor was a complete jerk that was more interested in berating him and putting him down than teaching him how to drive. I ride with my son everyday and am totally comfortable riding with him, he is a good driver. When the lesson was over he proceeded to bring my son to the door and berated him in front of me as if he were not there, and spoke to me about him so incredibly disrespectful, it was almost as if it was his mission to make my son feel really bad about himself. You pay $75.00 per lesson, and you are supposed to be able to trust the driving instructor your child goes out with to learn to drive. I would never let my child go out with this man again, he is rude, disrespectful, and lacks character, and I would never trust my child alone with this instructor again!!! This man is being paid to teach my son to drive, if he already knew how to do everything, he would not need the driving instructor! If you are considering using Right Way Driving School to teach your child to drive, you should seriously reconsider it! I had to give this school one star in order to write the review, but honestly it does not even deserve the one star it got. As a student that has been through right way driving school first hand (not the online classes) I think Terry is a very relatable, reliable, knowledgeable, and affable instructor. His number one priority is your safety. He risks his life everyday getting in the car with inexperienced drivers and although his instruction may seem a bit harsh to some kids, he needs to make sure he gets his point across so he can do exactly what he aims for TEACH EACH AND EVERY ONE OF HIS STUDENTS HOW TO DRIVE SAFELY AND CORRECTLY. If your kid can't handle that then maybe their NOT ready to drive. His teaching methods are quite effective and he even took the time to clarify many of my concerns and question long after the class was over. Terry is patient, kind and above all a great instructor! Terry also has a great sense of humor and made going to an eight hour class fun, it was an experience i'll never forget and am so grateful for. I highly recommend Right Way Driving!! read more
