I had a great experience at Scrub-A-Dub. I went the entire winter without a car wash, so it was…read morenice to be able to pop in quickly for an affordable wash. It definitely didn't get everything off, but there was months worth a stuff on it and a sign that said no guarantee they can get all the salt off. Overall it's definitely a good place to get a quick wash for a decent price.

I will say that the car definitely needed some freshening up, and that I naiively selected the basic wash. To get your car washed, you'll want to drive up and follow the ramp, where a person will be available to help you. The menu of options is listed on your way to the cashier. After you drive through and finish the wash, there is no one to dry your car off, nor anyone to target some dirtier areas of the car.. You just drive off back onto the road (I think I've unfortunately been spoiled by car washes in Illinois :( ..) Because I selected the basic wash, after my car came out, my mirrors were still dirty (wet droplets that didn't look very clean), and remnants of the bug and droppings remained... The person at the front was nice, but wish the wash was better.. Feels like it wasn't really washed and that it needs to be run through again.. If you're dropping by, I would recommend considering a more expensive wash to ensure that everything is cleaned out. (Print off coupons from the website for savings)

    Historic Third Ward

Here I am, singing the praises of a parking garage! But trust me, this one rings true of its…read morecharms. This parking structure is close to my office. It offers a couple of benefits that appealed to me as a monthly parking tenant - it's covered, the access is 24/7, and generally as parking garages go it's neat, clean and modern in structure with good access. There is a fully-staffed office on-site, and good security. I am paying a little bit more money but feel it's worth it for the advantages it affords me. The property management company has been very pleasant to deal with and that is a wonderful extra bonus as well.

As far as parking structures go, this one's not so bad, really. Actually, now that I think of it,…read moreit's pretty dang alright. I mean, can one, in good conscience give a parking structure FIVE STARS? Yes, a parking structure is a necessity. It's a thing that you need, so thus? They exist. I mean, you need to park, and somewhere. Milwaukee *is* a city, after all. And in the Third Ward, this is a pretty good option. So... I'm a fan of a parking structure? Well, that seems strange. Incongruous or whatever. Paying for parking in a thing. But... reality. Check. I guess, though. Ease of use, check. It's not crazy underground like ten stories. You're not going to get the bends while parking your car. It's not super high up and scary either, and you won't accidentally drive your car off the edge because there are just cables keeping you from overparking and smashing your shit or whatever. It hasn't any of those strange one way channels. No difficult directions and no tight turns. It's pretty open and pretty easy to use. And it's usually not too too expensive. Sometimes it is, but most of the time, it's pretty reasonable. Unless there's a special event, and then, well... you're going to pay. Other structures in town? They're shifty and they're slightly scary and they overcharge. I like this structure well enough to give it four stars. Not sure I'll ever review a structure at five unless they wash and wax my car for me and give me cupcakes and tell me how awesome I am. Maybe then.

Mobil - The only gasoline station anywhere near here that has diesel for cars. Kwik Trip only has truck size diesel pumps.

    Walker's Point

This is the best gasoline station in the city south. Easy access from downtown (take Water south…read moreto South 1st street), just a little ways off the Interstate (take the National exit, go Eastbound towards the lake, turn North-left at Steny's), you probably won't find better fuel prices until Oak Creek southbound (College avenue exit). This station is so big, there's access off of both second and first avenues, enough pumps you will never have to wait if you have a credit or debit card. It's like a turnpike oasis, without the clean restrooms but with better food options. The gas station itself is 24 hours, but at any given hour of the day, you will probably be accosted by beggars loitering and some can be annoyingly aggressive. They aren't very good at chasing off vagrants, and they aren't very good at keeping the window washing-squeegee receptacles full of soapy clean solution. There is a reasonably priced automatic carwash, lots of car vacuum and tire air stations (you need a dollar in quarters), that are usually operational. They will refund money without delay if there is a problem. There's a very good selection of snacks (moderately overpriced), groceries (very overpriced), usually fresh coffee, some baked goods, and some prepared dinners that are made that day, palatable (better than TV dinners if you know what they were). They have a good selection of ice cream, fairly priced dairy (and unlike other gas stations in the South Side, they stock skim milk, not expired), and soft drinks. There's a late night gyros place that is often your only late night after drinking choice of restaurant south of the campus areas. In the afternoon until early evening there's a fairly good Indian take out joint, and a decent liquor store, all in the same connected area. Times Square pizza was here but they are relocating so I don't know what's going into that spot. It's in between the Oak Leaf Trail and the Hank Aaron if you're taking a cross-metro bike trip, but they don't have bike racks. I chain up my bicycle to one of the restaurant railings and they don't seem to mind, but they all know me as a regular fat-guy customer. This place is just across the street from Coast In Bikes, so there's enough to do here that if you have drop off work to be done (repair flat tire) you don't have to just sit in the bike repair shop twiddling your thumbs.
