My uncle in Manhattan is getting older and needed some help. He was resistant and not really in the…read moreright frame of mind to look for someone. I'm in Maryland but he doesn't have any family nearby so I am the next best thing. I didn't know how to go about looking for someone. I called a couple of home care agencies but they were expensive and was not sure what we were getting for $25 to $27 an hour. When i looked online there were many different ways to go and I was a bit overwhelmed. So I went on Yelp which i periodically due for restaurants and such. I was surprised that LeanOnWe jumped at me. The reviews were strong and they were varied. At first I didn't realize that they were any different than the home care agencies. Then i realized that they weren't an agency but just a way for me to connect with someone that my uncle would end up hiring. Very clever. Since my uncle would be hiring the caregivers, it was meaningfully less expensive but would give us everything we were looking for. So I called up and told LeanOnWe what my uncle was dealing with, where he lives, and what he was looking for. They sent bios of 5 people who fit the bill, my uncle and i spoke to two of them on the phone and decided to hire one of them. It worked out great. What a creative way for us to manage this process. We would have been stuck otherwise. So far the woman we chose has been working for about three weeks and all is working well. It is nice knowing that if she can't make it we can always go back to LeanOnWe and find someone else. A happy customer

Unfortunately -I must give them a very negative review. I…read morehave asked them numerous times to assist me in replacing a live-in caregiver who has created a very toxic environment for us. The caregiver constantly manipulates the family against each other in order to get his way. Every time I try to replace him the agency interferes and ignores my requests even though I am the one hired them and I am the one who pays the caregiver who I dislike immensely. I should not have to be a situation where I am forced to keep a caregiver that I dislike. They don't return my phone calls and they ignore my requests to get a different caregiver. Instead of working with me to replace this caregiver who has created an extremely toxic environment, the agency will go behind my back and reach out to another family member who has very little to do with the caregiving, is easily manipulated and it results in arguments about replacing the caregiver. I don't want a caregiver who is only in it for the money and who does not have patients wellbeing in mind. I constantly have to step in and make sure the patient is being cared for. I should be allowed to replace a caregiver that I have no trust in. The caregiver should not be in charge and the agency should not be in charge. Thay have made a difficult situation even more difficult by pitting family members against each other. I dislike them immensely. Be careful

I would never trust her with my stuffed animal. I would have sent her home immediately but I had a drs appointment that I couldn't miss. She walked in the door with a nasty attitude. Saying "she don't like this". "She don't do that". Last time I checked. I had hired her. I came back to 2 big bags of laundry. When I washed everything. I saw on everything. I guess that she didn't like to change diapers either. Because she didn't know how to change one correctly. I do not recommend her. Get a camera if she is used to take care of someone with dementia. The second lady that they sent us is very nice

We were told she had to go on leave so mom was assigned another Aid. Then another and another and another.... Finally in October 2022 we finally got a fantastic Aid named Dana. My mom loved her and they got along great! . It was the perfect fit. Then January of 2023 the Aid needed surgery. Based on past experience, we requested no replacement Aid during her two weeks away. On her return she informed us she would be leaving the Agency. Helpers At Home Care had cut her pay down to the equivalent of a fast food worker. She had been working for this Agency for over 20 years!! Longer than the present owner had even owned Agency! Reason given by the owner, She'd been overpaying her for 4 months. REALLY?? We asked if there could be something worked out to keep her with the Agency. The owner, Zena, proposed a rate increase for my mom that amounted to $49.00 per hour which now included transportation and gas. Up till now the Agency had been paying the Aids transportation and gas expenses . This amounted to $14.00 MORE per hour. How could my 97 year old mother on Social Security afford that? She couldn't. After being assigned 2 more Aids in just two shifts, we realized the nightmare of bait and switch was starting all over again. We were fed up with the lack of honesty, communication or none at all. Just sending warm bodies, whether good or bad, who might show up or might not. Who came late or left early... , it didn't seem to matter . The Agency got their money anyway and so did their aids. No accountability. SHAME!! WE TERMINATED HELPERS AT HOME CARE and are now with a highly professional Agency that TRULY CARES about the care they give and not just about the money they receive. My mom is getting professional loving care, and is very happy. She has only ONE AID coming who is wonderful with her. The nightmare is over!!!!
