We have been using Right at Home for the past two months to care for my husband while I run errands, exercise, and occasionally spend time with friends. I've been very pleased with both their service and their caregivers. The office staff is responsive and quick to answer questions, and every caregiver we've had has been kind, capable, and helpful. One caregiver in particular deserves special recognition: Arthur. On his first visit, he arrived while I was rushing to get ready for dinner with friends and still needed to prepare my husband for the evening. Arthur immediately stepped in without hesitation and took over so I could leave on time. He was wonderful with my husband and handled everything with calm confidence. We used other services for Dad several years ago and were not happy with the quality of care. We found Right at Home for mom last summer and have been impressed with the professionalism and quality of care. Mom needs companion care, and Amparo does a great job getting mom to her appointments, taking her to the market, making light meals and helping us manage the house. This may "read well" with people unfamiliar with your company, but your lies will not change the attitude of your company's employees--since the overall unprofessional business climate of your company STARTS AT THE TOP. However, it only takes a couple of days for clients to realize how Right At Home employees (from in-home caregivers to personnel managers) are untrained, uncaring, unprofessional -- creating potentially dangerous and unhealthy situations. We had 24 hour care for my husband for his last two days of life. Within two hours of my inquiry, the office administrator was at my home explaining their services. A few hours later, our first caregiver arrived for her 12 hour shift. I can't imagine having more caring, compassionate persons to care for my beloved. They sat by his side soothing him and tending to his needs. As I or a family member approached, they discreetly stepped aside. In such a brief period of time, they were "family." Right at Home has been a reliable professional & efficient "hands on" longterm home care giver to my 94 year old male partner for many months . They are here 4 hours for 5 mornings a week. We can't praise the service enough, any schedule changes we may need are efficiently adopted.. Our carer, Pilar,is an "angel", and is reliable, diligent, kind and firm in ensuring that he has a safe & caring environment. Pilar oversees his diet, his exercise and ensures that his hygiene and wellbeing is of a high quality. I inquired into this service and found that the minimum fees they are quoting are OUTRAGEOUS! For Companian Care (see their site for list of services), they charge $37 hour, minimum 4 hours a day and minimum 3 days a week which comes to $444 per week. How does this help senior citizens? Of the services offered, I wouldn't be using most of them but would still be on the hook for $444 per week. Needless to say, I will not use this service because I'm not that desperate yet...and there are other places much cheaper. read more

Right at Home provides companion, personal, and Hospice home care on a short and long-term basis. I havr been a caregiver with RAH for 2 years and 6 months. I had to get registered with the California Home Care Aide Registry, have a background check, and a tuberculosis screening and an interview to inform them of my relevant experience and why I am interested in working for them. I was required to complete several training modules through the INTHEKNOW CAREGIVER TRAINING PROGRAM. I had a few short-term clients, but mostly worked with a few long-term clients; I was well matched with those individuals and developed mutually caring relationships with those clients. The agency offered some workshops, for example on working with clients with dementia and periodic staff support meetings. They frequently expressed there appreciation of the care we gave our clients. This past year the Coachella Valley office joined with the office in Laguna Hills, so it went through some bumps and several changes in office staff, but things seem to be running smoother now. They are flexible with adjustments in scheduling to meet the needs of both my clients and myself. Originally we were thrilled with the quality of care that was recieved from Right At Home. Looking at my past reviews made it so obvious how far the agency had fallen in such a short period of time. Elaine and Dan were exceptional, always going above and beyond and treated all with the most respect and dignity. If I called the office as the liason for my dad, even if they were at home, I was either immediatley patched through or they promptly returned my calls and answered my questions in a respectful and kind manner, this was back in 2020 during the height of the pandemic Since that time, with several ownership changes, the quality disapeared along with the care and the compasion for the individuals in care. With age and isolation dad had become more dependant on the kindness of others (paid others FYI) and the turnover was surprisingly high. Many days doing without a substitute replacement, Finally we thought we found our answer in a caregiver who bonded with dad and took, what we thought was amazing care and interest in him In hindsight the signs are right there. She was always in earshot of phone calls and facetime chats, she influenced dad and his disdain for kindness and goodness and belief in the tRump, and she poisoned him through conspiracey theories to the point that he did not get fully vacinnated, against his physicians recommendations. Family in Orange County, wanted to visit however due to the pandemic and the fact that my husband and I were considered essentail workers and dad had a comprimised immune system, he was adament that we not visit, This caregiver scared him, but did not wear a mask nor get vacinnated, We wonder about her background check or how she was vetted. The major flag was when she was overseen trying to access the family trust and make herself the trustor along with trying to sell dads social security numbers and statements to make money. She was overheard at the office by another employee that she had a "rich Jew and was waiting for him to die" Thankfully this employee notified family and the agency who only terminated her, but she is out there and no charges filled Dad has subsequently passed away, and we are finding evidence of missing monies. She had access to dads accounts and his car. Right at Home has not been forthcoming when we asked for account statements. They have refused to engage in a respectful converstaion with us nor taken any responsiblity for the actions of their employee. My advice when older loved ones near care, is to be very cautious, ask for background checks and if something feels off, run dont walk away. Trust your instincts. After 4 1/2 years of using this company for both my mother and sister, 7 hours a day, 7 days a week, (my mother passed away 7 months ago), we brought my sister to live with us 2 weeks ago. We soon discovered her blood pressure, which had become dangerously high, returned to normal. Her appetite is good and she is getting delicious, nutritious meals from her new caregivers. We found out she had been practically starved (half a bagel for breakfast) and the same, monotous food every daiy. Just easy meals requring little preparation. She is receiving excellent hygienic care from professionals she trusts to actually make her feel comfortable in the shower and getting her beautiful long hair that she was constantly told to cut (to make things easier) washed with shampoo and conditioner, and not just plain conditioner which happened a lot and left her with an oily greasy mess. She is growing her bangs out, and when we came to get her, the bangs were literally in her eyes. No one could come up with the idea of putting them back in a clip or barrette....because they just didn't care. I highly suggest if you are looking for a care agency for yourself or a loved one, look elsewhere. If it's a loved one, visit as often as you possiblly can. They have to know they are being monitored. After all these years and thousands upon thousands of dollars we paid them, not even the courtesty of a "thank you" or "good luck." This shows how much they care (I should say don't care) about their clients. After only three days dad decided that he would like to increase his time with caregivers.Saturday' morning wanted to find a Sunday caregiver- the next day - I wasn't certain it was possible- but called. There was a bit of a learning curve at the beginning in terms of understanding managing the schedule and finding the right caregiver for my parents. The first assigned caregiver was not a good match for them and Dan and Elaine immediately assigned another to their case. My parents now consider both of their assigned caregivers almost extended family. It was extremely important to us to make sure our parents were safe and comfortable in their own home as long as possible rather than have to transition into a care facility. Last year my mom had a bad fall and it was obvious that she was going to need some help. My siblings and I live out of state so we needed someone local to help out. They were professional and caring and knew just how to handle the situation. My mom, having been totally independent up until this point, was very reluctant to have someone in her home. Are used right at home for three weeks in April while visiting Palm Desert. As a quadriplegic, I need assistance with my morning routine for about four hours. Right at home was able to meet my care needs very flexibly. My primary care giver was Fred, who is truly a special man and very caring. The other two caregivers who filled in a few times were just OK, relatively inexperienced and they did not know how to use a Hoyer Lift and sling. I also found their rates to be a little more reasonable then some other agencies. I will use them again next time we are in the desert. read more

March 1, 2017 RE: Right at Home of the Desert This past January I received an urgent call to help a dear aging friend who lives in Rancho Mirage. My friend had recently undergone kidney surgery, is a diabetic now on insulin, new on needing to use oxygen, and, now urgently, he needed a daily caregiver to assist him in his home. His life had suddenly changed from being totally independent to needing a lot of home care. My friend needed help with his medications, diet, meal prep, trips to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, help with some light housekeeping at his home, and finally, some caring companionship. After a very frustrating search and numerous phone calls for a reputable agency in the Rancho Mirage area via the Internet, I was referred to Dan & Elaine Fox, owners of Right at Home of the Desert by a close friend who also lives in Rancho Mirage. Right at Home is unique to all the other agencies I had talked to in that they don't just act as a commissioned intermediary with a potential caregiver, Dan & Elaine Fox and their company Right at Home actually hire, train and employ all of their own caregivers. They have an office in Rancho Mirage, a professional staff, and can match you with a caregiver for a few hours per day or for full time 24/7 care. They are fully licensed and truly care about their clients and employees. It was a pleasure dealing with Dan and Elaine, they were personally available and are very experienced and connected with all the services available to help an elderly person in the desert area. Right at Home came to my dear friend's rescue within a few days of my initial call to them. Elaine and Dan Fox have made our family's journey with my mom's in-home care a stellar experience. We have been using their care team staff to provide in-home care for my mom. We began this Right at Home journey after my mom had a knee and hip replacement, starting in 2014. Elaine was always available for our family to reach out, and returned our calls within minutes. Their care staff is outstanding, every single one of the caregivers was professional, engaged, attentive and truly showed care and concern for all of mom's needs. Last year, mom was diagnosed with early-stage dementia, so we needed 24/7 care. Mom was not the easiest to get along with at times, but the staff and Elaine were always positive, providing us with lots of advice to manage her long-term care plan. We worked with Right at Home to provide twice a week care for my 89 year old father, in Rancho Mirage. The companion drove him to the market, went with him to lunch and helped him with errands, as well as simple support using her cell phone. While my dad was initially resistant to the support and possibly losing his privacy, this was not the case at all and he thanked us over and over again for the support and kindness of his companion. We are giving respite care to my mother-in-law. My husband and I, both seniors ourselves, contacted Right at Home to come into the home three hours per day for the length of her stay. The caretakers that have come out have been wonderful. Stella in particular has helped us with some handy tricks to minimize injury risk to both our mom and us. She is absolutely wonderful. My aging, fiercely independent parents reached a point where care in the home was required and their children all live too far away to provide they care.. Dan & Elaine Fox came to the rescue! Their level of care and attention has exceeded my expectations- for example, my 91 year Dad has been the care giver for my Mom who is recovering from back surgery. Dad sprained his knee on a Thursday and by Saturday he couldn't walk. Big problem! He called Dan. They didn't have a nurse available. So what was there solution? Dan and his wife Elaine personally picked up my Dad, took him to urgent care, waited with him, took his prescription to the pharmacy and then dropped him off back at his house.
