Dr Riggs is very skilled, empathetic, and fun to chat with! She made a customized plan for my difficult TMD and relieved so much of my pain. The office staff is also very friendly, warm, and knowledgeable and I've never waited in the waiting area more than 3 minutes. I have had dentists in four states and one European country. I'm shocked to see reviews that rate Dr Riggs low. I have NEVER had a dentist before her who so diligently worked on me to solve a problem. I went to her with an implant that fell out. (she did not do the implant.). she spent well over an hour trying to extract the root-screw because to do so would save me a lot of money. she succeeded and was so excited I told her it seemed she was having an orgasm. ( excuse for offending anyone.) another time she extracted a tooth and I told her I don't want to spend the money for another implant. She suggested a "refill" tooth; it just snaps in. I wear it when I'm in public and dont bother when I'm at home alone. And as many others have stated, she is an amazing woman; a self-made woman. She's brilliant, joyful, interested in you as an individual, kind.... I cant say enough good abt her. I'm almost 80 years old and I've been around the curve enough times to recognize outstanding people when I meet and get to know them. Dr Riggs has been my dentist for 16 years since I moved home from France. I can't imagine EVER switching to someone else and I sure hope she doesn't retire before I kick the bucket! read more

I have been using Doctor Riggs for YEARS! Not only is she the top rated cosmetic dentist in the city (by locals), but she also is a fantastic person. Her office is beautiful, and her staff is extremely friendly and professional! Doctor Riggs has repaired a broken veneer for me in the past (her work was PERFECT), and she does a little facial cosmetic work when I need it. She does my botox injections and she does my lip fillers (Juviderm). I don't think I will ever let anyone else touch my face. I'm in love. I'd give her 10 stars if I could! read more

Dr. Riggs is a dentist with a solo practice on Magazine Street near to Louisiana Avenue. She has been my dentist for a number of years. Product: They have stuff like Invisaline and the like, but I don't really purchase product from them. (N/A) Service: I have found service here to be excellent. I've used the same hygienist since I started there, and she is both proficient and very friendly. I have had to wait a couple of visits for up to 30 minutes, but that is to be expected sometimes in a clinic, due to unforeseen emergencies, such as a cracked tooth. The front desk staff will contact you when your next appointment is due. Although they can be a bit enthusiastic about upsales, such as semi-annual radiographs and whitening services, as long as one doesn't just say okay to such, they won't push it. Dr. Riggs herself is quite congenial and informed, and she has referred me out the one time I required an orthodontic procedure to a competent surgeon. They take the insurance provided through my work, which has covered everything except radiology to this point. 4 stars (above average) Facilities: A converted old home directly on Magazine Street. It is quite beautiful inside and out; relaxing as one can expect for a doctor's office. The inside is sparklingly clean, and the furniture is comfortable. 5 stars Overall: I would suggest Dr. Riggs to adults needing regular dental care in the Uptown area, but the place really isn't suited for children. 4 stars read more

It is very hard to say the things i am about to say about a dentist, the penultimate modern semiotic for pain and suffering, and quite honestly i never thought them possible. But here goes. Dr. Riggs and her entire staff are walking luminescence deserving not only sainthood and your entire devotion and prayers, but of all of the wonderful holy praises you will be singing to all of your friends and family after a single visit to her office. That was a thick sentence, but so is my adoration and worship of these wondrous delightful Muses and the undeniable better my life has become since maw pain forced me to crop the coward and begin my (personally arduous) journey at the hands of the beautiful doctor. I want to stop with the church analogy but i don;'t know if i can. Every one of my smiles are Gospel, now. I found her through a friend who went from peasant-in-pain to model before he was through. My first visit was forced by hurt, but when it was over, before i ever left the chair, i knew that all of the loving my mouth would need "in the future" was going to happen "now," and that whatever path Dr. Riggs and her team deigned best to direct was the path i would take. There was something about her eyes; her irises bursting as her eyes and fingers opened a new mouth; the smile like a batman villain: this woman was born and sanctified to make your mouth and heart happy. I arrived defeated that morning, suffering. I left the office a super soldier, waving a flag, heart made of gold. My dental hygienist/technician/artist is Ms. Jackie, who never ceases to amaze me with her firm tenderness, even with all that ruckus she's making in there, and even with me flailing around like a lil bitch. And then, after my visits with her she usually busts up with some crazy oral hygiene contraption (or grill-tility, if you will) or technique like Q or Giles. I love that she doesn't hurt me. It's been over a year now, since my fun began and my smile and overall health began to become a better best more vibrant me. Dr. Riggs has done magic for me, over and over again. While Elizabeth Riggs and her staff are very pleasant and their office space is gorgeous, I was not happy enough to keep coming back. My first visit was excellent and I had a cleaning done with Jackie. Painless, quick, all around great. I was informed that I had two cavities and they would need filling so I made an appointment to come back. I wish I hadn't. I was there for three hours. Three hours for two cavities! I was left by myself at for 20 minute periods three separate times during the visit. When I asked what the hold up was, I was told this was normal. It's not normal. That wasn'tmy first filling. I had pain after all was said and done. When I went back a diamond strip was run through my molars and she told me she tends to pack her fillings a bit tight. Months later and I still can't comfortably chew on that side of my mouth. Lastly, she's very expensive. It cost me $250 for the two fillings WITH my dental insurance. I was told that's because she's a cosmetic dentist. So all in all, if an awesome cleaning is what your looking for, go for it! If you're needing some work done, maybe look somewhere else. read more

I recently had Dr. Riggs replace crowns on my four front upper teeth. It was truly one of the worst experiences of my life. So many things went wrong that I don't know if Yelp reviews allow the amount of characters needed to list them all. Here are some of the highlights with more to follow: 1.From when my teeth were prepped until crowns were put in was almost 3 MONTHS. Thats 3 MONTHS of wearing temporary teeth that fell out 3 times. If you have ever seen what is beneath a crown let me tell you not only is it not pretty but the feeling of cold air on those teeth is not good. 2. Since Dr. Riggs was my primary dentist I assumed she would monitor the health of the teeth and gums she was working on but this was not the case. She worked on a tooth that showed signs of gum disease in my check-up (that she left untreated) and continued to do cosmetic work when basic dentistry was needed. 3. I woke up the morning after the permanent crowns were put in unable to even speak clearly because my face and lip was swollen many times normal size. After calling the office and getting no call back I just headed down to the office. Dr. Riggs told me it was a reaction to the pain medication (it wasn't ) and tried to find a steroid shot and when she couldn't, she sent in a technician in to tell me to go to the Emergency Room or find an oral surgeon to give me the shot. There is an MHM Urgent Care about a mile down the street that was covered on my insurance so I went there instead since I had to work that night which I would not be able to do looking like I did. The doctor at urgent care gave me the steroid shot but told me that it was trauma to the area not a reaction that caused the swelling and asked me what pain medication and instructions I was given..my answer was None and None... He told me that the swelling would most likely not recede by the time I had to be onsite for work and I ended up missing that event AND taking a course of steroids for 6 days after that because the swelling was so bad. 4. When I had a follow-up appointment supposedly for final adjustment, Dr. Riggs left the backs of my teeth so rough that my tongue started to bleed after a few days and she put a gouge in the back of one of them that was really irritating. Since she did not mention any more adjustments to the backs of teeth or further polishing I asked for another appointment to see about replacing the two teeth that were causing me the most irritation. 5. During the following appointment Dr. Riggs was alternately combative than defensive in a way that I have never experienced with any health care "professional"before. I started by trying to explain to what has happened up to this point and her response was (this is verbatim,btw) "this is no fun for me, either". She agreed to replace them but then, inexplicably polished the backs of them more and GROUND the back of the same crown that had the infected gum until you could see the tooth underneath. She exposed this severely inflamed gum more with no mention of treatment..mind you she is also my Primary Care dentist. I was so alarmed by everything that happened that for the first time in my life I went for a second opinion to Dr. Willhite in Metairie who is one of the best cosmetic Dentists in the New Orleans area. He could not give me an explanation why she would shave down that crown to that point and told me about more that a few things Dr. Riggs did wrong. He also referred me to Dr. Delcambre to treat my infected tooth and other dental issues that were overlooked by Dr. Riggs. Dr. Delcambre is now treating me and has been AMAZING. I am filing a complaint with the State Dental Board but to do that you have to first file with the LA Dental Association for a peer review which I am doing now. I will post their findings when the review is finished.. My advice...Unless you are a glutton for punishment (and incompetence), avoid Dr. Riggs like the plague!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! She did one of the worst jobs imaginable on my teeth. I had to get a chipped tooth fixed and it broke the next day. I went back to get it fixed and she charged me for her mistake, it then broke several days later and she charged me again. Her staff is rude and she overcharges for poor quality of work. As an alien, maybe I have sensitive human like teeth. But I have a suspicion that Elizabeth Riggs is just a bad dentist considering I never had dental issues before going to her, I think she is the common thread that led to my TOOTH FALLING OUT this year. I haven't been to Dr Elizabeth Riggs since 2012, but considering I've just paid $500 (with thousands more dollars to pay in my future) because of a mistake she made on my teeth that year, I feel I need to warn my fellow New Orleaneans about this dentist. In 2012 I went to the dentist. I was graduating college, and I hadn't been for a couple of years, which is totally on me. I had a few cavities- none of them needing root canals. They were small and easily fixable, I was told. They were my first ones ever. I had three appointments with Dr Riggs all which lasted about 4 hours in duration from start to finish, of which about 3 hours was me twiddling my thumbs, looking at magazines, and waiting. She serves multiple patients at once, which is unprofessional and weird, but nonetheless, I hadn't been to a dentist in New Orleans, and didn't know better, as she was recommended to me by my brother in law who has AMAZING insurance because he works a dangerous job. Turns out, I didn't have amazing insurance. After working on me multiple times and essentially forcing me to buy some sort of insane toothbrush that's apparently worth $200 my family was billed thousands of dollars for the fillings of my cavities, which we ended up paying, because we had no choice. This made me feel like she as a bit of a charlatan, to continue working on me while I was thinking she took my insurance when surely she knew that she did not. Thousands of dollars later, I had only had two cavities (my 2nd and 3rd teeth) worked on and ended up going to a dentist in Florida where I am from over the summer who took care of the rest in under three hours and two appointments. But that's not the worst thing: she sealed my second and third molars (the ONLY TEETH SHE WORKED ON) on the upper right side of my mouth together. That's my back two top right teeth. They were sealed together to where I could not get floss in to clean them. I called and told her they were sealed shut, and her receptionist told me since they didn't take my insurance, I'd have to pay out of pocket to essentially fix a mistake SHE had made. The receptionist also told me it "wasn't a big deal as long as I was brushing regularly" which I was. But still, I was angry, but was heading back home for the summer soon where I ended up getting the rest of my teeth worked on (it was the week of my graduation) so I just said forget it and continued brushing and flossing as best I could, sticking toothpicks where i could get them into the pocket on the gumline. Flash forward to 2015: my 3rd tooth (the one she sealed to the one next to it) chips off. I freak out and call the dentist. Mind you, I'm in medical school and working part time as a waitress living paycheck to paycheck while paying for school and rent and all of the other things you pay for as an adult in the world. I'm broke, always. I'm 26, and no longer have dental insurance, just regular basic crappy medical insurance I can't even really afford. So I have to pay out of pocket for a dentist to tell me that basically she had sealed my teeth together to where bacteria had infiltrated the teeth, rotted my 3rd tooth from the inside to the point where it broke off. I'm told I have to pay out of pocket for a root canal and filling and a crown which will cost minimum $1500, which I immediately start saving up for while desperately trying to find affordable dental insurance (if anyone knows of somewhere I can get coverage, please let me know). One month later, still saving for this procedure, HALF OF MY TOOTH FELL OUT while in the shower one morning. I literally spit half my tooth into my hand. Upon examination with a light and my phone camera it's clear she has completely destroyed my third tooth with bad dental work. I now have to pay (again, out of pocket, so I'm about to open a line of credit because Elizabeth Riggs is an incompetent doctor) for an ORAL SURGEON to EXTRACT MY TOOTH and get an IMPLANT. That is what it has come to because she messed me up so badly. Elizabeth Riggs is pretty. She is nice. She will tell you that you are pretty and nice. But she is a terrible dentist who messed up my mouth and is now putting me into debt. Thank you, Elizabeth Riggs, for absolutely nothing. Since I'm already incurring debt thanks to this woman, I will also be hiring, and she will be hearing from my lawyers. And as soon as my med exams are over I'll be reporting her to the Better Business Bureau and anyone else who will listen because she should NOT be a licensed dentist. AVOID HER LIKE THE PLAGUE. SHE WILL DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD. read more

She and her staff are extremely competent and have great bedside manner. They clearly explain what they are doing and what my options are. They have given me great advice for home care that has improved my oral health and actually reduced the amount of work they have to do on me. I really LOVED Elizabeth. She made me feel like a was really taking care of. A few months ago, before I moved to a different state I had a filling done. I looked great but within a few days while i was traveling unfortunately it broke. Elizabeth was nice enough to refer me to a great dentist in the area I was moving to and refunded my money. I felt very taking care of until..... One morning at ****7 AM i get a phone call from one of her front desk girls. Usually they are nice but this one WAS SO RUDE. She informed me that even though THEY REFUNDED ME MY MONEY.... I now OWE them money. She said if I didn't pay it that she would send it into collections. Which I found was weird is that they refunded me money and then asked for it back. SCAM? Not only that but my have me on a email list- they never emailed me the "bill" but left a voicemail every once in a while- she explained that was the only means of getting in touch with me. But the business sends me a happy birthday come in and see us email. Having someone threaten your credit because of a mix up on their behalf is a HORRIBLE feeling. I tried calling back numerous times to speak with Elizabeth herself, left messages and no one would return my call. So at this point I give up... and thanks to them my credit score will probably be worse then it is because of greed.....maybe this will get their attention and maybe they'll treat their clientsl better.... I used to refer people to her practice now I just tell them to go else where... Hopefully Elizabeth hires a competent front desk girls with manners that dont threaten her clients of their wellbeing. read more

The hygienist was decent, though I had to wait in the ridiculously pretentious waiting room for over an hour after my scheduled appointment time to get it into my uncomfortable cramped cubicle. I was at the Riggs dentistry for 3 years, before I FINALLY had enough. Thank god I left her ! In the beginning I had a very good insurance and told her that. The consequence was that I had to pay outrageous prices and she told me I have to come for cleaning and deep cleaning 4 times a year. ( My new dentist says that is actually bad for my teeth !!) After I told her that I do not have this insurance anymore, she kept charging me the same ridiculous prices. At my 2nd last visit for a cleaning she detected a microscopic cavity for which I needed an other appointment ( of course, so she can charge me again) So I came back the next week, telling her that I have an other important appointment in an hour. "Oh, no problem, you are out in 30 minutes", she said, put me in this torture chair, gave me a quick injection and was not to be seen for one full hour. After 40 minutes I reminded the assistant about not being able to stay for much longer, 10 minutes later again, then again. If I wouldn't have gotten the injection yet, I just would have left. Finally Dr. Riggs came in the cubicle ( they don't have rooms with privacy ). She was FURIOUS, drilled and filled my tiny cavity within 4 minutes !!!, and charged me $ 400.- !!! This treatment was VERY painful ( definitely on purpose ) and her attitude more than insulting. When I wanted to pic up my files for my new dentist, she subsequently put a note in my file , saying that I was extremely irritable and impatient. That made me decide to write this review, so other clients can see behind her fake over-sweetness she uses to lure patients in to milk them as much as she can. 4 minutes for $ 400.-, over one hour waiting AND really bad attitude - not recommendable ! read more

Everything about Dr. Rigg's practice was top notch! The location is great for Uptown residents. While waiting for my cleaning and checkup, I felt like I was in the lobby of a day spa. Staff was very couteous, and other than the deserved lecture I got about not flossing enough, the cleaning was as painless as it gets. Though I had not planned on it, I ended up getting fitted for bleaching dams and have been extremely satisfied with my newly whitened teeth. This is my new dentist! read more

This dentist is the worst dentist, stay away from her! She over charges for work not complete and will falsely bill you and your insurance company for work she has not done and will add fees on top of that. She is very unprofessional and she has had a different accountant who cannot maintain the correct billing amount in her office. I have evidence of a piece of tooth that she has left in my gums after extraction. I have emails that she has refused to see me until my bill was completely paid. She does not care about your dental health, just the health of her bank account as example of her advertising a full page ad in the New Orleans Opera Magazine. We are reportting her to the American Dental Association and our insurance company for fraudulent billing and work uncompleted! It also seems the office no longer has a receptionist. Made my next appointment with the hygienist but when I called to follow up, no one answered the phone even during business hours. Dr. Riggs is very pretty. Her staff is pretty and nice. Her waiting room is pretty. Those are the only positive things I can say about this place. The wait time for simple appointments are always at least 30 minutes. Dr. Riggs is always pushing additional services on me before completing what she started. I am so disappointed by this office, I have spent thousands of dollars for one treatment that is still incomplete. Because it's not finished yet, I don't really have a choice and have to complete with Dr. Riggs. The office has called me the day of or day before my appointment on FIVE occasions to reschedule to a different date, and 2 of those times was because it was near a holiday and Dr Riggs decided not to open the office that day....right before Christmas the receptionist scheduled me for a day 4 weeks in advance, emailed me the day of and told me my appointment was now January the 14th. Really?! This was not just for a check up, I had a service scheduled and the day before get an email saying that I won't be seen for 3 weeks? Not only are the wait times abominable, and the up sells constant, the actual service that Dr Riggs has been responsible for my teeth has been sloppy, at best. My treatment was supposed to be finished months ago and it is now almost certain it will be months before an end is in sight.....I regret my decision in choosing this office. I've been afraid of the dentist ever since I was little, but Dr. Riggs has cured me of this! She and her staff are so friendly, I actually look forward to my appointments. I'm a huge baby, so I'm always offered a blanket when I go in and her assistant has held my hand during injections. Not only is the bedside manner great, but the work itself is wonderful. I've been self conscious of my smile since getting braces in middle school and now I love it! I had a cavity on a front tooth that always bothered me but no dentist wanted to fill because of cosmetic reasons. It was the very first bit of work Dr. Riggs did, and even my husband can't pick out tooth it was. I'm looking forward to continuing treatment with Dr. Riggs and I recommend her to everyone I know. read more

Pros: The office is very relaxing, almost spa-like. Dr. Riggs clearly takes pride in her workplace. Cons: Her business practices are highly unscrupulous. I was her patient for a little under 3 years. When I informed her that I was about to attend graduate school and change my dental insurer, lo and behold all of a sudden I needed a root canal. To be clear: Dr. Riggs recommended a root canal in a tooth that had I had broken and had reconstructed in 1998. I had seen dentists all over the United States, Italy, Germany, and the UK (military family) who had all told me that the tooth was fine and needed no further attention. This means that Dr. Riggs had either (1) failed to notice any material changes in my tooth over the course of 3 years and, coincidentally on the same day that she learned my insurance provider would change, decided that I needed multiple, costly procedures; or (2) she puts a comparatively high emphasis on profits over patient care and forthright honesty. I was informed that if I did not have the procedure as soon as possible, I would likely get a brain infection. I didn't feel that I was in a position to argue or had time to get a second opinion, so I reluctantly agreed to let her proceed. She did not tell me the cost of the procedure until after she injected me with anesthetic, nor did she tell me that the cost did not include the cost of the crown itself (i.e., she quoted me a price for labor, but not for parts). At the end of the day I had to pay approximately $2,000 for a dental procedure that may not have been medically necessary. Finally, Dr. Riggs verbally informed me that my crown had a lifetime warranty on it. However, the gums around the region of the tooth have begun to inflame and cause me discomfort. I am not sure if this is due to Dr. Riggs' work, the work of her endodontist, or if it is unrelated. But it's suspicious to me that I have not had any trouble whatsoever with this tooth in over 15 years until Dr. Riggs decided it needed to be "fixed." If you are looking for a spa, then go to the spa. If you are looking for a trustworthy dentist who answers your questions clearly and honestly then I recommend you look elsewhere. read more

Dr. Riggs and her staff are wonderful. My twice a year hygenist visits are quick, painless, and efficient. When I have to get work done, I know to clear my schedule for quite a chunk of time -- she takes her time, gets you good and nova-cained up, and comfortable before she gets started. If you're looking for a cheap, quick, and efficient dentist, you may not like using her. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, and I for one don't mind paying a little extra to get EXCELLENT service. I know to call ahead to find out if she's on schedule, I also know that I'm going to spend three hours in the chair for work. I bring my kindle, they give me a blanket, and I settle in. I know some people aren't happy with that kind of service, BUT I AM. And she's worth every penny I've spent outside of my insurance coverage. I will continue to use her and recommend her.
