After my first game a few months after moving here I understood the energy of the city much more. Pickles games are FUN. They are silly and goofy and there's all sorts of fun extras like real tattoo artists and launch a ball and lifting the chairs after a pickles point is scored that are just SO Portland. Always a good time and the mascot is hilarious!!!

Everyone there to enjoy, sing along to the great music, dance and enjoy a night of baseball. We went to a game on a warmer evening but I was cool as soon as the sun disappeared beneath the horizon. It truly was a perfect night for baseball. The Pickles offer vegan burgers, sausages and chicken tenders (a brand we've never heard of, but they became my son's favorite that night.) The game was awesome, Pickles won!!! The must heed tip I'd offer, take public transportation in or Uber. Because you're not at a stadium, you're in a neighborhood park with a baseball field. Parking is TOUGH y'all. But I'd still do it again. A truly fun night!!!

I have been going to see the HOPS since they first came to HILLSBORO about 10 years ago…read more This is the ONLY Major League Baseball in the Portland area. Sorry, but the Pickles are not an MLB team. The HOPS are a minor league, high A affiliate. What this means (important) is if you are a College Baseball player who was drafted, this team will be your first stop. You will be on display, tested and worked with to see if, you can make it in the BIGS. So, it is a lot of fun to watch the players on both teams try-try-try as hard as they can. The new stadium that is brand new this year, has got to be the nicest minor league stadium on the West Coast. It has something for everyone with multiple levels of seating. From, $12.00 admission in the grass area where the kids play ground is, $22.00 seats on the first and third base line all the way up to $122.00 seats that include a full buffet with free Beer and Wine during the game. The regular game food on the first level is affordable and very tasty. The Maletis group is a sponsor, so you will find a lot of Budweiser Beer and local Micro's too. PARKING is about $10. Get there early as the closest spots get taken quickly. The OWNERS, attend every game since they moved the old Yakima Bears team from Yakima, WA to Hillsboro to start the HOPS. So, this is a Family affair, not just a bunch of investors. GO to see the HOPS! You will not be disappointed.

Minus one star for nickel and diming the $9.50 parking (which took a LONG time to exit 20+ minutes) and the $12 tall boy cans of beer, ouch. The new seating is very comfortable, nice cup holders, clean bathrooms, but just needs some tweaks to make it a more fun experience.

This was standing tickets only, no seats. Also no private area and there were tons of other people so very few people could actually see the field to watch the game. $50 to just get in to the park. Then let's talk about the catering, paid $11000, that's right $11k to run out of some cheap pulled pork and baked beans. Think $10 plate dinner, but paid almost $70 a person. Worst of all they ran out of food and drinks. Their way to make it up was a platter of $5 grocery store cookies. I've never been so frustrated and disappointed

I know the Portland Timbers best for their MLS Cup 2018 matchup against Atlanta United FC. It was…read moreonly our (Atlanta) second season in existence and we beat the Timbers, 2-0, in Atlanta. It was a big win for the city as an Atlanta pro sports team had not won a championship since the Atlanta Braves won the 1995 World Series. The Timbers played Atlanta United in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Timbers were the MLS Cup 2015 champions, beating Columbus Crew SC, 2-1, despite Portland playing a road game at MAPFRE Stadium in Ohio. The Timbers set an MLS Cup record in that match when Diego Valeri scored only 27 seconds into the game (fastest goal recorded in the championship match to date). Valeri went on to be named MLS Cup MVP. Also, similar to Atlanta above, it was a big win for the city of Portland as a Portland pro sports team had not won a championship since the Portland Trail Blazers won the 1977 NBA World Championship Series (now known as the NBA Finals). Caleb Porter coached the Timbers from 2013 to 2017 and, somewhat ironically, has been head coach of Columbus Crew SC since 2019. He was a great coach for Portland. The Timbers' first MLS season was in 2011. So far, the 2015 and 2018 MLS Cups have been the team's only appearances in MLS' championship match. In those seasons, the Timbers finished in fifth and third place, respectively, in the Western Conference. Both in 2013 and 2017, they finished in first, but were unable to make it past the Conference Finals in 2013 and Conference Semifinals in 2017. In 2013 and 2018, the team had impressive 15-game unbeaten streaks. Overall, all seasons combined, the Timbers have been a middle-of-the-pack MLS squad. Over the years, goalkeepers Donovan Ricketts and Adam Kwarasey tallied high numbers of shutouts. Some of their single-season shutout numbers approached league records. In 2013, Ricketts had 14 shutouts and in 2015, Kwarasey had 13. Incredible. Portland won the one-off MLS is Back Tournament in August 2020, earning a spot in the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League.

Great venue, wonderful fans that are eager to share what they know about the game and the point system, super welcoming staff & volunteers and spectacular teams. So much fun. You can grab a bite out back where a food truck is parked, wait in line for drinks or have them delivered. Buy your tickets online early because this event sold out. The energy of the crowd was awesome. The announcer keeps the spectators engaged with play by play in the fast moving arena. I guess I am aging myself when I compare this sport to when women's ice hockey came on the scene sometime in the eighties. I guess at first, it was a bit confusing because I did not do my due diligence and research on the rules of how to play and what the calls were from the referees. What was good though was that during halftime, they did have some volunteers who came by each seated section to ask if anyone had any questions about the game. I raised my hand and asked a lot of questions. The person was very thorough and explained the game very well. Once the second half started, I became more glued to watching the game instead of surveying the merch booth across the way of where I was sitting or the beer/snack line. Yes, they do sell merch, snacks, and some adult beverages as well as the unleaded drinks. Overall it was a fun time. Not sure if I would get into this sport and go to more games but definitely enjoyable enough for me to sit through this one whole game. As for the parking and getting into the venue, see my previous review of parking for Oaks Amusement Park. Kind of a nightmare for parking and not sure yet if it's kryptonite for me to return to the venue to see another game. I did purchase tickets at the door and got there 30 min early.
