I'm doing my best to be fair and objective here. I almost want to give it one star, meaning the worst, or being one of those people that says if I could give no stars I would. So here I am reflecting back, thinking it over carefully, and debating with myself back and forth. So very objectively and charitably I'll give it two stars, and in all fairness they did tell me to turn my head when I turned. That's about the most redeeming thing of the course or maybe the only redeeming thing. The problem is they don't teach people how to ride. There's a sink or swim sort of approach as well as a one size fits all to how they teach their students that honestly just makes the price they paid for these classes a pitfall and not an investment. I remember the woman who I spoke to on the phone, can't remember her name as it's been more than a year now, just remember that she was also the one that told me to turn my head. Well in any event I remember her saying..."Motorcycle riding isn't for everybody." I'd like her to read this and think about that it's not that it isn't for everyone, but that it's a process. They need instructors that explain things better, break things down, don't give vague explanations that make you feel like they're some great motorcycle guru imparting knowledge to you the lowly and inept novice rider. What gives me cause to say this here is remembering when I asked the great guru..."What is countersteering? " His reply was motioning with his body in his guru way, and like he was holding the handle bars, and saying in this opaque and mystical tone..."Countersteering" and if I wasn't enlightened enough to receive his wisdom then that was just my own lowly ineptness. Instead of saying..."Countersteering" with smoke and mysticism why don't you tell your students, turn your head, tuck your inner elbow to your body on the side that you're turning, your outer shoulder tuck it to your ear as much as you can, with your elbow up, your inner hand on the side that you're turning push on the handle bar, do a butterfly stretch with your inner leg on the side you're turning to and you're outer leg hugs the body of the bike. I just gave you all that for free, and didn't charge $425.00 for it. I taught myself how to ride on my Rebel 1100 DCT since I took this course and blew away the big $425.00 and then another $50.00 to retake it because I couldn't do the cones, and the sharp right turn, or the swerve, and even though it's automatic and you don't have to mess around so much with the clutch and gears, it's still considered quite a bit of horsepower for a beginner or at least someone that's never had to pass the DMV operator's test before, which they required it of me now. But how was I able to overcome my ineptness and be able to weave cones, turn, do the tight little circle that they require at the DMV? By doing exactly as I described above. Turn your head(which yes I got from the woman referred to above), elbow to your body on the side you're turning. Tighter you can tuck it in the tighter you turn, as well as turning your head. Shoulder to your ear on the side you're turning away from. Butterfly stretch on the side you're turning to with your knee. Other leg hugs the bike. If you're not someone that can teach yourself by trial and error as I did then get a friend, maybe put an ad on Craig's list. Offer dinner and a beer, maybe you'll get lucky and meet your significant other, but save your money and don't spend $425.00 unless maybe these people change how they do things. read more

Our class was very blessed and fortunate to have G and Ted together! Both instructors were informative, patience, positive, and supportive of all riders in the course. They took the time to make sure we had the tools and knowledge of a novice rider to BE SAFE! once we begin to ride. The teaching in the classroom and on the track was clear and retainable. The best part about this class was the instructors. They did a really good job of making this course fun. From the get go, they broke the ice and provided some levity by asking us all to introduce ourselves, and to tell everyone why we wanted to ride, and what bike we wanted to get. And when we weren't riding, all of us hung out and got to know each other on a deeper level. As far as the instructing went, it was great. It was clear that they were required to read verbatim from their instruction guide/manual, but they also provided excellent, informal, in their own words instruction, guidance, and feedback, which really helped us learn to ride well. I could really tell they why they chose to do this job. They have a true passion for teaching people how to ride, and bringing more people into the motorcycle community. If you're considering taking this class, do it. Riding dirty and constantly having to look over your shoulder, having to pay a hefty fine and getting another rider with a license to get your bike out of the impound lot, if your bike gets impounded, and personally contributing to societies higher insurance and medical cost, is not worth it, and a lot more expensive than the costs to do this class. Lastly, if you're able to apply what you've been taught, and can pass the class, it's a really good feeling. It really is! Thankfully, everyone in my class did pass, and us all congratulating each other afterwards was a really good end to it all. I only wish I would've got their numbers before I left. Better than Disneyland. Once you get into the training course, you get into the action right away after signing papers and etc. Other motorcycle courses typically make you take the written tests and study the powerpoint slides and then you're able ride on the motorcycle. So this course definitely gets you motivated and pumped from the start. There were a good variety of bikes to pick from but my recommendations to pick are the BMWs since they have ABS. If not those, I would have picked the Grom, a small bike but easy to ride. My instructors were Guillermo and Jason and they were the dynamic duo. Both of them show high standards and were always open to assist you if any questions arose. They set good examples for the class and showed flawless form when performing the demonstrations on the motorcycles for the class to follow. In this class, you learn various safety techniques and riding form to apply good habits on the streets. There is sufficient practice and riding time in this course to build your foundation to become a more aware and safer rider. I'd definitely recommend taking the motorcycle course here! If you are reading this, you are probably thinking about getting a motorcycle. Perhaps you heard the DMV test is hard and you want to avoid it by taking a course, but either way you are here. If you read any review about RideRite, please make this be the one you read. I promise it will give you all the information you need to know. The truth. There I was. I just spent $350 bucks on some course my brother and friends told me to take. So you may ask yourself, what do you get for $350 bucks. Glad you asked, let me walk you through this. They send you an email confirmation and a schedule of the days to come. My first day was a Zoom Class which was not too exciting, but hey, you gotta learn a thing or two before you get on the bike right? The instructor's name was Bob. Bob was a cool dude from Van Nuys and was very helpful. They always made sure to check on the class and see if anyone had questions. My advice to you, speak up. Ask plenty of questions. Everyone was pretty quiet so engaging with the instructor really helped the group open up a bit more. THERE IS A TEST AT THE END OF THE COURSE. So pay attention and take some notes. The test isn't hard, but you need to score at least 80% to pass. There is only 50 questions, so absorb all you can. It's not extremely HARD, but even for as well as I thought I did, I still missed 6. I digress.. Second day was riding day! They had a pretty good selection of bikes to choose from. They let you pick a bike to use for the duration of the course, PRO TIP : Walk fast and grab a bike you want. Don't worry about everyone else. Legit go take the bike you want. I was nice enough to let everyone pick before me but the bike I got hurt my ass big time. Retrospect, should grabbed one of the BMW bikes. read more

I signed up for the beginner course because I have never ridden a motorcycle before. I had such an amazing experience. This was actually my second time taking this course because I could not finish the previous course do to an injury. This time around the instructor I had, his name is Dave, he was AMAZING! He was so patient and encouraging. He explained everything so well, I truly believe if he was my instructor the first time I would not of gotten hurt. He really pushed for learning throttle control and the position of my right hand. It was so pleasing to get a maneuver correct and have him cheering you on in the process. Be there 30 minutes before the start time, you'll fill out a disclaimer of liability, they'll read you the rules and you'll choose a motorcycle to ride. It's a bit quick in pace so try to absorb as much information as possible. After a month of completing this class, getting my M1 license + riding every day, I just had to come back and leave a review. If you're going through the reviews and thinking about signing up, as I did before pulling the trigger, then this is for you. If you're ride rite and reading this, it's also for you, here's my experience under the wings of your instructors for two days. The instructors Guillermo and Bernadette were simply phenomenal and I really couldn't imagine anyone more perfect than them. What I was expecting was a boring class that I had to sit through and try to stay awake. That is not the case at all. Aside from the nicest people you'll ever meet, they have this energy about them that makes you feel like you've known them for ages. They feel like a friend and it makes the class so much more fun, which directly correlates to information retention. Don't get me wrong, just because the above is true, doesn't mean they will be easy on you just because they're nice, or not correct you when you're doing something incorrectly. They're main goal at the end of the day is to only put riders on the road that are safely fit to be and adept to be on the road. Safety is still the main component of this course at the end of the day. But don't let that intimidate you because they have it down to a science on how to get you ready. As you would imagine, repetition is the key to retaining information and that's what they do. But the way they do it is in a fun way and the best way to describe it is they take their vast amount of knowledge, decades worth, and break it down into smaller parts, explaining everything to you like you're 5 years old. It's not enough to just have the information and knowledge if you can't translate that to a brand new rider without incurring information overload. I didn't notice how well they do this until I started riding. Literally every single time I ride I hear them in the back of my head still (as weird as that sounds) just reinforcing what I learned in class. Often times on the road you have to make decisions in a split second and without years of experience as a new rider, you will really appreciate them being in the back of your head. I really can't imagine anyone going to take their test without taking the MSF class first. I think it's goes deeper than just those two instructors though. Ride Rite definitely does their due diligence to make sure people like them are the ones training and signing off on new riders to be on the road. It has to be a mixture of experience as well as passion behind riding, which the latter is why I think they are just so amazing. It may be their job but THEY WANT TO BE THERE. You can just tell. If you're worried about small things like wondering "am I gonna even be able to learn how to ride a motorcycle/shifting gears/balancing the bike/not stalling/etc..." don't even worry about that. Like I said they have it down to a science. They'll start you off and end with setting you up for success. They don't have an ego or pride--I don't know why I was expecting drill sergeant type for instructors LOL. Truth is that I've never ridden a bike in my life and was more taking this class in hoping it might not be for me and just get it out of my system (the exact opposite happened I'm now obsessed). I could keep going but to wrap this up, I learned invaluable skills to get me skilled and safe enough to be on the road. I ended up passing my DMV test with zero questions missed, and I didn't even study after the class (don't be like me, you should definitely study still ). The guy next to me rode for 15 years and (for some reason) had to take the test again... he ended up not passing the test. Odd I know but shows that this class will not only teach you invaluable riding skills, but get you ready for the boring DMV test as well so you can start riding as soon as possible. Everyone in the class loved the two instructors and safe to say we were all pleasantly surprised. All of us that took the class maintain a group chat which I think is really cool in showing the camaraderie this class ends up having in pulling beginners together and supporting each other throughout the 2-day class (and even afterwards in our case). Versus thinking you might suck and everyone's gonna be looking at you anytime you stall or mess up and feeling embarrassed. That's not the vibe at all here. Hats off to both Guillermo and Bernadette as well as ride rite for making this such a cool and pleasant experience. I'll be back soon for the advanced class! NOW GO SIGN UP! I had the privilege of working with Dave Husk and (I never got his him, but he went by Dutchie). These men were extremely professional and easy to work with. I had a year riding experience prior to this, and the basic riders course offered here definitely had me learning a thing or two and refreshing my ability to ride. My wife Sandra took the course and liked it very much. She had never rode a street bike before this class. She was very nervous and did not pass the skills test first time around. So i sent her for private lessons with Bob and he worked with her on just the skills she neded to pass her drive test. She was able to lower her score by 50% and passed with flying colors! Lisa in administration is very nice as well. As a Full Dress motorcycle rider of over 25 years experience i highly recommend this class expecially for those who have never ridden before. My wife can now make an appointment with the DMV and take her written test and now because of successfully completing the Riderite school she does not have to undergo the pressure of taking the skills test at the DMV. The class was amazing and I can't thank Ted, Richard and David enough, they really know their stuff and they made the class FUN, plus, we did really have a good group of students in this class which I'm sure helped. Though I was not really a "beginner" I still learned a lot and gained a ton of confidence in my riding from taking the beginner course and it was obvious what my weaknesses were and they helped me through it, answering all of my questions and even demonstrating the things that were harder to explain. My instructor Stephen (the Englishman) was a difference maker. I taught myself how to ride and probably logged 500miles on my Triumph Bonneville prior to the class. I passed the DMV written and skills test, but really felt like I should take this class to ride safer. BANANAS. I am a completely different rider after this weekend. It just feels so more natural riding because of unlearning bad behavior and being instructed on best practices. The drills Stephen specifically lead, and through repeated drill reinforcement, was a game changer for me. I cannot thank Ian and Ted enough for their knowledge. These guys really know there stuff and I feel so much more confident when I ride. I can still hear their voices in my helmet reminding me to turn my head and to look through my turns! Bernadette, Ted and Alan are the best Trainers, so I haven't rode a street bike but once in my 20's and have mostly been a passenger. I grew up as a kid on dirt bikes so I was really a beginner coming into class wanting to learn how to ride, not only ride but be a safe rider! I'm getting my own bike and I want my family to know that I will be a safe motorcyclists. They teach you all the basics, also how to be safe on the road! The teach the fundamentals and encourage you to continue to practice always! The keep a positive attitude and always encourage you! The let you know what your doing incorrectly and how to correct it! The gave me excellent feedback on what I could do to improve my skills. They all made me feel comfortable during the classes and stated that I must of had some experience in riding due to the fact I looked comfortable on the bike myself! I definitely felt good riding and definitely can't wait to get my own bike and I hope to take an intermediate class in the future on my own bike to continue to improve myself and become that rider I hope to be!
