I recently had the chance to visit Riddlebox Escape Rooms, and it was honestly one of the most enjoyable escape room experiences I've had. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere immediately set the tone for a fun and immersive challenge. The lobby was clean, well-organized, and had a cool puzzle-themed vibe that got everyone in the right mindset before we even started the game. One of the highlights of the entire experience was our host, Jamie. She was incredibly welcoming and did a great job explaining the rules and the story behind the room without giving anything away. Sometimes escape room briefings can feel rushed or confusing, but Jamie made everything clear and engaging. She had a really friendly personality and made our group feel comfortable right away. It felt like she genuinely wanted us to have a great time, which made a big difference. The room itself was very well designed. The puzzles were creative and challenging without feeling impossible. I really appreciated that the clues flowed logically from one to the next, so when you solved something it felt rewarding rather than random. There was a good mix of different puzzle types too--some that required careful observation, others that needed teamwork, and a few that really made us stop and think. It kept everyone in our group involved instead of just one person solving everything. Another thing I liked was the level of immersion. The set design and props were high quality and made the whole experience feel like you were actually part of the story. Nothing felt cheap or out of place. You could tell a lot of thought went into creating the environment and making sure the puzzles fit naturally into the theme. Jamie also did a great job monitoring the game and giving hints when we needed them. The hints were helpful but not overly obvious, which is exactly what you want in an escape room. They helped keep the game moving without ruining the challenge. After the game ended, she took the time to talk with us about the puzzles we solved and the ones we struggled with, which was a really nice touch. Overall, Riddlebox delivered a fantastic experience. Between the creative puzzles, immersive room design, and Jamie's excellent hosting, it was a memorable and really fun activity for our group. Whether you're new to escape rooms or someone who has done a lot of them, I would definitely recommend giving Riddlebox a try. Came for a friend's birthday party and did the witches' room. It had fun puzzles and was able to work together as a group. The inside/waiting area is a little cramped. There was another group ahead of us doing a different room, so lots of people were in a small area. They had lockers in front of your belongings. There is plenty of parking out front. I would recommend as a fun group outing. read more

Can't really share any photos since I don't want to spoil it for anyone. It's an odd place for an escape room. I didn't even know they had one here in this area. They have several rooms with different themes. Some of the rooms accommodate larger groups. We had 8, but a smaller room. They recommended 5, and it was crowded in the room. Some of the equipment was outdated, and the room monitor didn't work (they had to speak over the intercom). Also, some of the decor was worn and hard to read and decipher. The puzzles were elaborate and required quick thinking. The staff was friendly. read more

Went here for a date night and while it's located in an odd spot - we had a great time! We appreciated that even though there were only 2 of us, we got the room to ourselves and as we were close to finishing at the hour mark, the staff let us stay a bit extra to solve the entire room, which was nice so we didn't miss the cool ending! I would say check it out if you live in the area but if you are an escape-room connoisseur, this place may be rated more basic than others you have been. read more

I'd like to give this a 4.5 stars because I enjoyed the puzzles so much, but the site doesn't allow it, I guess. My boyfriend and I did the prison break room (and escaped with less than four minutes to spare). The puzzles were clever and really fun -- we really enjoyed the whole process of solving the puzzles and escaping! The only downsides were: 1. A few elements of the room needed touching up (non-spoiler examples: a number was hard to read and the monitor had to clarify for us; a flashlight was a bit dim; other things that would be spoilers) 2. The staff seemed overworked -- our monitor was monitoring two other teams at the same time, which meant he wasn't as quick as he could have been when we asked for clues -- this is a timed event! 3. Other escape rooms have props and a photo opp when you are done...a big deal is made when you escape or even if you don't. None of that here, just "Okay, you're all set, thanks for coming in." Not very warm, excited, or (I guess) eager for me to post pics on social media. read more

Getting into the room was a little hectic. It's pretty clear that they're a newer or smaller business and had a hard time accommodating multiple groups at once. Two other groups came in at the same time as us, and it was a little complicated. Once we were in the room, however, it was AWESOME. I've done a few escape rooms, and this one is up to par. We did the prison room, and started off in different cells. It was detailed and a great experience. No false clues or anything. There were a couple of details that were messed up. A closet that was supposed to be unlocked with a keypad was already unlocked when we got in the room. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. I can't wait to see them grow and improve. read more

Pretty cool place. I've never done an escape room challenge before, so I don't have anything to compare this to. Here's what I can tell you about this place. There's only 1 room option right now. They said they will have a second room soon. Because they are a smaller company they make it pretty easy for you to go. We called a couple other places first, and many of them wanted you to reserve the room and pay in full over the phone before you arrive. Other places also had a higher minimum player amount. This place only required you to pay for 1 person up front and the rest when you arrive. They also only required a minimum of 4 people. So, it made it a lot easier for us because you really never know if everyone will make it. There was 1 guy working there who was probably the owner. At first glance I would have guessed he was in the military / Marines. He may have been, but he had a thick accent... sounded a bit like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Really nice guy and he helped us along the way. I definitely recommend trying this place. read more

We went there today. The set up is really nice, but the experience was the worst out of the 6 escape rooms I have been in. We were schedule to start the escape room at 2:20. The only worker there arrived at 2:20 and things were not set up. The wrong thing was on the computer screens. Atmosphere was nice, but our host was not prepared at all. I felt like I wasted my money. The worker did not even explain things to us. Just told us to read the screen and start. In other places the workers were enthusiastic and talked to us before and after. Set up is amazing, customer service and being prepared was not that great. read more

I went to Riddlebox with 5 of my close friends which we booked online. It was super easy and you are able to choose the timeslot you want. A few of us have been to escape rooms before and some this was their first time. The place is easy to find and lot's of parking available. We were greeted right away by the owner and he even let us start earlier since we showed up 30minutes before our timeslot. Right now they only have one room but are in the process of making a second. The room was full of detail and we had a blast solving all the puzzles. I liked how there was a storyline and theme for the room. There are multiple puzzles so all 5 of us were always working on something which I liked. We were able to escape at the end! Overall I would recommend checking this place out. The owner was super friendly and you can tell he enjoys designing the rooms. I would come back for the second room design once open. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe having props at the end saying you escaped or didn't escape. I know this is often used at other places. They did have a snapchat filter but was not able to get to work when we were there. read more

Went here back in January for my birthday on a sporadic decision to go to and escape room and I was not disappointed. I want to say I was absolutely blow away at the level of detail in the room and the level of actual intelligence it took to complete this room. We finished with 1:17 left and it was heart thrilling all the way through. The owner has a real trend touch with his rooms since his/ families experience with escape rooms come from Europe where the trend originated. Very well done escape room in which you have to use 4 Senses to figure your way out. The room transports you back in time to a tavern several hundred years ago. There were 6 of us and it took all of us working together to figure out all the clues getting out with only a few minutes to spare. One of the best rooms I have done thus far. This experience was gifted to me for my birthday. The four of us never have done escape rooms before so we didn't have any expectations. We came out taking about it the whole ride home how fun it was! It was amazing to go through piece by piece and some riddle solvings were unexpected but we made it through. Everything was orderly too like each section had its own riddle to move on the next which made me appreciate it more now as I did another escape room that was more clue and word solving. Also the room stayed to its authenticity which was really unique, like the clues didn't have paper cutouts or things specifically from this century. This was so so much fun for our family! There were 8 of us and we were able to solve the room. Each one of us contributed to the solution and I was glad to have so many people. We all loved how immersive the experience was- the whole room is decorated so well, you really feel like you're in a tavern. The clues were so varied, and involved several of your senses. There were a few times our group literally screamed and jumped up and down because the solutions were so creative and surprising. What an amazing time we had at The Old Tavern! My husband and I took our 12 year old daughter, 2 of her friends and our 6 year old son yesterday. It was our first time doing an escape room and...WOW! We throughly enjoyed our experience finding the antidote and escaping from the Tavern at the RiddleBox Escape Rooms in Naperville. This was our family's first time at an escape room with our 12, 14 and 18 year old kids. The puzzles were challenging and inventive. With a little guidance via a screen that also displayed the countdown we were able to work through clues without getting too frustrated. Everyone had fun which was our goal! The web site gives a good explanation of the room concept and European influences. We received helpful reminders ahead of our reservation via email as well as an aerial photo showing where we should park. This is a new business having opened in the last few months. We felt that the owners were friendly, helpful and committed to providing a quality experience to their patrons. The business did not yet have exterior signage but the address was clear. We definitely recommend trying RiddleBox Escape Rooms! I'm looking forward to visiting again when their next room is ready. read more

This was by far one of the best escape rooms I've been to. There were 4 of us and it took everybody working until the last second to escape. It's not typical in the it's one clue after another, there are many things going on simultaneously and you have to work to escape. This is my fourth escape room, and my friends and husband and I loved it! It's a small operation that the guy running the place said he designed himself, but he definitely knew what he was doing. It's probably not super high budget like some rooms with high-tech elements and Hollywood-caliber sets, but it's not all analog (did have several electronic elements), and it certainly didn't feel low budget. The room itself feels really immersive and is designed well. This was probably the most unique room we've been to in the sense of the different types of clues (you have to use most of your senses), and we really liked that aspect. It was challenging, but not so challenging that we couldn't win it. We won with about 3 minutes to spare! Also, it's definitely on the more budget-friendly end of escape room pricing, which is a huge plus. Highly recommend this one. read more
