The best restaurant in Mechelen I have tried so far!…read more Very well located in the old Lamot Brewery. We really enjoyed the calm and relaxed atmosphere. I had the foie gras poêlé and apples (16€50) as an appetizer, the " filet de sole meunière " and fries (24€50) as a main course and the " baba au rhum " for desert 8€50). Everything was excellent! The service as well.

Okay terrace on the waterside. Nice drinks menu, if a bit on the expensive side. Friendly service.read more

This is very deceiving however. The food is excellent. I ordered tacos, which were the regular taco shells but tasted so different and very good. It came with a small, very small salad and a side bowl of chili peppers, along with some taco topping and sour cream. They have a very extensive drinks menu as well as a food menu. The lasagne and spaghetti also looked very interesting, although didn't get to taste them. The place appears to be very popular. Got there early afternoon and most of the tables already had "reserved" signs on them. There is also seating out in front and the weather was nice, so that was full. Overall, a nice comfortable place with waiters who speak English and are very polite and accommodating. Recommended.

I'm vegan, and the chef and waiter went beyond to ensure my food had no animal products. My mom, on the other hand, who is not vegan, can confirm that their grilled salmon is excellent. Both of us agree their fries are delicious and are a must-try. The entire staff also remembered us from our last visit before, and greeted us with a genuine, friendly enthusiasm and the waiter remembered any vegan alterations I made. Brasserie Schuddeveld offers a personal touch that other restaurants in Brussels lack. On top of it, the restaurant is very clean, classy, and elegant. Would totally recommend for any night out and will come again next time I'm in Brussels.

Big fan of the cheese croquettes and pretty much all of their Belgian dishes (preferably vol-au-vent or the flemish beef stew). Other than that I'd go for a steak or tenderloin anytime ! The wine list is relatively small but has some great finds with small mark-ups. The waiter was great too - friendly and attentive. The only thing that was a bit odd was the space. It was more a bar than a restaurant inside. There is a piano in the entrance but it was covered with a flag and TV screens were blaring football matches. It was loud and hot inside and we opted to sit outside on the street. This was better but the dozens of smokers descended on us constantly and we were the only people eating. In the end, I really liked it and I'd like to go back when the World Cup is over to see if the atmosphere changes.

Moved on to the tuna steak for my meal. The sauce was scrumptious. The fish itself wasn't my favorite, and the quinoa was too healthy for my liking. However, I must say that it was a much better option than the veal that my friends ordered. I could eat my entree again. I wouldn't recommend theirs to anyone. Both the mscarpone and the dessert of the day weren't special either. Service was pretty awful. Took forever to get anything on our table. The meal was like an all evening event, taking around 3 hours for wine, appetizer, entrees, and dessert. And on top of that, we emailed them our order in advance (because we were a large party) and they still managed to get it wrong (on two separate parts of the dinner).

To start I had the razor clams - to be honest there weren't too many interesting flavors or textures. And while the clams were fresh and tender, the flavor was extremely one dimensional when combined with the spinach/rice mixture and rather underwhelming green sauce. Could have used a touch of sweetness and acidity to really bring out the freshness of the clams. For my main I had veal with herb butter. Probably the best part of my meal was the beet purée that was served with the veal and veg. Not the best fan of veal but I enjoyed every bite. Desert was a pretty great chocolate mousse that was ruined with a crushed popcorn topping. Not really sure what inspired that choice by the chef. While the food was fresh and cooked well, there was a severe lack of flavor that I've been accustomed to while traveling throughout France. Service was prompt but nothing to write home about. €37 euros later and I could have gotten a better experience eating at a chip shop or something more ethnic.
