Cebu Lechon is a must have. Even the late Anthony Bourdain claimed it is the best roast pork in the world. Let's talk about Rico's versions both regular and spicy. I found both to be really good but slightly overhyped. The meat was tender and flavourful but the skin (which is arguably the best part of Lechon) was not as crispy and crunchy as I would like it. I know previous Yelpers did mention this so I wasn't as disappointed as I would have been had I not read other reviews. We also ordered the sizzling squid and chicken inasal with a side or garlic rice. The squid was good but the portion size was a little on the small side. The chicken had a great BBQ flavour but only came as one piece. We washed it all down with a San Migel beer and a green mango smoothie. Super refreshing and delicious. Overall, Rico's is sort of an institution on the island of Cebu so if you are visiting definitely give them a try. The food was very good but not the best I've had in terms of Filipino fair. If I'm am ever in Cebu again I will definitely come back.

Sisig goes perfectly with their garlic rice

In my opinion, the lechon wasn't as good as it was hyped up to be. The skin was quite chewy and very salty, but the meat itself was tender. I found that it worked well in their sisig but on its own just was average. Despite being somewhat let down by the lechon, I was quite happy with my meal here. The garlic rice, sisig, and chop suey were all incredibly flavourful. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is also located very close to the airport, which makes it a great place to stop for your first or last meal in Cebu. While I can't speak to the authenticity of Rico's I saw both locals and tourists here, which to me is a good sign to me. I wouldn't hesitate coming back here or recommending it to others!

This is a misnomer !

We were at Rico's on October 02,2019. Our dining experience was so memorable in terms of a lousy tasting lechon that needs to be Refried...and then it became like a left over meat for a week ! The reviews were overrated and they were not true as far as we were concerned ! A glass of water was spilled over the table and the waiter did not even bother to help us out...not until we called his attention. Their services are in need of so much improvement. We are from Bacolod...and Bacolod lechon is far far more tasty than The lousy Rico's Lechon ! Kindly live up to your previous reputation for fine dining ! Thank you.

Landed in Cebu City craving for some lechón. I've been told by my fellow Pinoy friends in the states that Cebu had the BEST lechón in the PI. After landing in Cebu at 10PM I strolled out into the dimly lit streets of Mactan's Lapu-Lapu road. This was my first time ever visiting the PI. Before my trip I was warned, jokingly, not to be gunned down on the streets accused as a drug lord. President Duterte pardons the slayings of drug users/pushers. I'm Chinese American and my fellow Pinoy buddies tell me the big time pushers and importers of narcotics into the PI are from the rich Chinese Filipinos. Must be those Hokkien folks! As I walked down the streets of Cebu, barely any street lights, stray cats and street dogs fighting and rummaging through garbage. Homeless folks on the street, shirtless due to the humidity, playing cards and laughing as I walked by them. Dirt bikes, scooters, and jeepneys fly past me at excessive speeds through narrow streets. I would be lying if I told you I didn't have thoughts of some gunman on his motorbike gunning me down in a dark alley. Finally I found the light as I see the big bright RICO's sign up ahead. Hungry, I was immediately sat down in an AC'd restaurant. I've been told that the spicy lechón was a must-have item. To my misfortunate timing, the waiter announced that all the spicy lechón was sold out. So instead I opted for the standard lechón and a side of adobo water spinach and white rice. Order of lechón: Came chopped with various parts of the swine. The meat was salty and the skin was a mixture of both crunchy and soft n chewy. I don't like chewy swine skin, it has to be fresh and cracklin'. That was the only take away from my lechón experience. Adobo Water Spinach: In Cantonese, we call this vegetable "kong choy" as in "hallow vegetable". The flavor was bold and tasty, a bit salty but went well with white rice. Overall, I'll give this spot a 4/5 due to the hospitality and 3/5 for food only because the lechón skin was not cracklin' fresh. Cost was around 1,300PP.

Doesn't look appetizing at all

Rico's Lechon In Mandaue. Was looking forward to eating Cebu Lechon. Ended up disappointed. The skin was chewy and the meat was bland. It didn't taste like Lechon or even have the aroma of a Lechon at all ! Waste of money and calories! Cang's Lechon is still the best in cebu !

When in Cebu, must eat Cebu Lechon ! and Rico's Lechon is the award-winning place to do it man!!!! We ordered half a kg $9) which was plenty enough for family-style for the 3 of us. A Platter of Garlic rice for $3 bucks and Monggos (mung bean) soup for $5. Throw in a small sizzler of spicy squids and we had leftovers for lunch the next day for our Driver and Tour Guide Vince Yap, who recommend this place.

This Zubuchon is conveniently located right next to Mactan Marina Mall and across from Robinson's Supermarket. The restaurant is spacious, clean and charming with a red and white theme that perfectly matches their logo. They specialize in lechon and this was visibly noticeable in their menu that featured a variety of lechon dishes. From Lechon Kare Kare to Zubuchon Diniguan and Lechon Fried Rice, they had a lechon dish for everyone. We opted to get their famous Zubuchon (490 Philippine pesos) featuring roasted pig with crispy skin and tender meat, along with their Zubuchon pancit (260 Philippine Pesos) and medium rice (85 Philippine Pesos). The Zubuchon was the true star! The skin was perfectly crisp, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The seasoning was spot on and I particularly enjoyed the hint of lemongrass and aromatic spices. I do wish there had been a bit more crispy skin, but overall I was a fan. Not to be outdone, the Zubuchon pancit was excellent. I enjoyed the long, silky noodles with pieces of Lechon mixed in. This noodle dish paired very well with the Zubuchon. It is easy to see why Anthony Bourdain loved Zubuchon and why so many folks dine here. Visiting Zubuchon was a great introduction to Cebu's famous lechon!

Alright... you're rolling through Cebu, Philippines... and your feed keeps screaming about this…read morespot. No white tablecloths. No reservations. Just smoke, sizzling oil, and a crowd that knows exactly what's up. So yeah... we had to pull up. This is Punko-Punko sa Fuente. Street food chaos--in the best possible way. Here's how it works. You walk up to this table stacked with a glorious, borderline dangerous pile of fried goodness. No menus. No fuss. You point at what you want. The person running the table grabs it, chops it into bite-sized pieces right in front of you, and hands it back like it's street gold. You grab some rice--wrapped in these heart-shaped woven coconut leaves--dip everything into that sharp, punchy vinegar sauce... and now you're eating the way Cebu wants you to eat. First up--Chicharon Bulaklak. Crispy. Chewy. Salty in all the right ways. This thing hits like a late-night food dream. 9.5 outta 10. Then the Liempo. Thin strips, but still thick enough to get that porky texture. Juicy. Perfectly seasoned. No nonsense. Solid 9 outta 10. Next--Lumpiang Shanghai. Golden. Crunchy. That crisp snap when you bite in? Yeah... it's there. Filling is rich, savory, comforting. 8.9. Then the Stuffed Crab. The filling? I love it. Crab's there, veggies are there. Maybe a little more veggie than I'd like--but hey, some people might swear by it. 7.7. But the sleeper hit? The egg with veggies. Hard-boiled egg wrapped in this veggie mixture and fried until the outside's got attitude. The combo just works. Unexpected. Bold. Delicious. 9.5 easy. This place? No frills. No filters. Just Cebu street food doing what it does best--big flavor, fast hands, and zero apologies. If you're ever in Cebu... do yourself a favor. Pull up a stool. Grab some vinegar. And get messy.

You'll find Pork, Chicken, Sausage, and Lumpia, all served crispy and paired with a signature vinegar dipping sauce that cuts right through the richness. The Vibe & Essentials It's a rustic, high-energy spot that can get quite crowded. Timing: It gets busy fast! Aim for off-peak hours to snag a seat without the wait. Hydration: They only serve Mountain Dew. If you aren't looking for a sugar rush, bring your own bottled water. Climate Control: It gets hot and humid. I highly recommend bringing a portable fan and a small towel to stay comfortable. The Verdict Is it a five-star luxury experience? No. Is it a delicious, authentic, and fun time? Absolutely. Despite the heat and the limited drink options, the food and the atmosphere make it a win. We'll definitely be back for another round!
