From Cebu to Oslob to Dumaguete
Phil S.

Lantau Native Restaurant is a newplace in Dumaguete that wasn't here the last time I was in Dumaguete 5 years ago. After hanging w/da boys for a couple of days in Cebu decided to go south to Oslob to swim with da whales. From there it was a short trip south to the southern tip of the island where we grabbed a ferry across to Dumaguete where my buddy Joel C lives w/his wife and kids. The landscape of Dumaguete has really changed. Like many the cities in the Philippines Dumaguete is growing, but there is nowhere near the overcrowding of Manila and Cebu. Dumaguete or more correctly Apo Island is known for their world class diving. After we crossed over between islands Joel C took us to Lantau Native Restaurant. We got there around 12:15pm on Sunday and the restaurant was packed. We ordered Lechon, pancit Guisado, & garlic rice. The Lechon flavor was very good, but had way too much fat (we flagged the manger & got a refund), the pancit Guisado was delicious as was the garlic rice. There was al

Can't beat this place! Prices are amazing and the food is great!!! The view is amazing!! Worth the drive to it. Only thing is they don't keep their white wine cold.... odd. However, the San Migeul beers were nice and cold. Def a place to go whether you are a tourist or local. Food is worth it and we highly enjoyed our evening. Kid friendly.

Looking for place to get away from the the city feel of Cebu City and looking great ambiance ntext to the ocean? Then this is the place to go! This is something you definitely want to plan since it is located on Mactan Island. They call it a floating restaurant since it extends beyond the pier to give the feeling of being surrounded by ocean. The cuisine is native filipino and on the grilling side. The seafood dishes are pretty good and the popular ones seemed to be grilled clams in butter and tuna belly, the also offer pork dishes as well. The staff is attentive but mind you this place can get really busy especially during dinner service. But this place is definitely worth the visit for the ambiance and a nice meal.

Food was okay. Typical Filipino fare. Took a long time for our orders to be served. But no biggie, just enjoy the sea breeze.

Alright... you're rolling through Cebu, Philippines... and your feed keeps screaming about this…read morespot. No white tablecloths. No reservations. Just smoke, sizzling oil, and a crowd that knows exactly what's up. So yeah... we had to pull up. This is Punko-Punko sa Fuente. Street food chaos--in the best possible way. Here's how it works. You walk up to this table stacked with a glorious, borderline dangerous pile of fried goodness. No menus. No fuss. You point at what you want. The person running the table grabs it, chops it into bite-sized pieces right in front of you, and hands it back like it's street gold. You grab some rice--wrapped in these heart-shaped woven coconut leaves--dip everything into that sharp, punchy vinegar sauce... and now you're eating the way Cebu wants you to eat. First up--Chicharon Bulaklak. Crispy. Chewy. Salty in all the right ways. This thing hits like a late-night food dream. 9.5 outta 10. Then the Liempo. Thin strips, but still thick enough to get that porky texture. Juicy. Perfectly seasoned. No nonsense. Solid 9 outta 10. Next--Lumpiang Shanghai. Golden. Crunchy. That crisp snap when you bite in? Yeah... it's there. Filling is rich, savory, comforting. 8.9. Then the Stuffed Crab. The filling? I love it. Crab's there, veggies are there. Maybe a little more veggie than I'd like--but hey, some people might swear by it. 7.7. But the sleeper hit? The egg with veggies. Hard-boiled egg wrapped in this veggie mixture and fried until the outside's got attitude. The combo just works. Unexpected. Bold. Delicious. 9.5 easy. This place? No frills. No filters. Just Cebu street food doing what it does best--big flavor, fast hands, and zero apologies. If you're ever in Cebu... do yourself a favor. Pull up a stool. Grab some vinegar. And get messy.

The Food The menu is straightforward and unapologetic: if it…read morecan be fried, they serve it. You'll find Pork, Chicken, Sausage, and Lumpia, all served crispy and paired with a signature vinegar dipping sauce that cuts right through the richness. The Vibe & Essentials It's a rustic, high-energy spot that can get quite crowded. Timing: It gets busy fast! Aim for off-peak hours to snag a seat without the wait. Hydration: They only serve Mountain Dew. If you aren't looking for a sugar rush, bring your own bottled water. Climate Control: It gets hot and humid. I highly recommend bringing a portable fan and a small towel to stay comfortable. The Verdict Is it a five-star luxury experience? No. Is it a delicious, authentic, and fun time? Absolutely. Despite the heat and the limited drink options, the food and the atmosphere make it a win. We'll definitely be back for another round!

The food is cooked fresh. You actually pick your seafood before it is cooked, especially the squid and the crab. Nothing feels rushed, and it shows once the plates hit the table. The fried squid was worth waiting for. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not greasy. You can tell it was fresh and cooked to order. The crab was the same story: sweet meat, well-seasoned, and not drowned in sauce. We also ordered pancit bihon, scallops with garlic, pork BBQ skewers, and a small cup of rice. The pancit bihon was flavorful and not dry. The scallops were soft and garlicky without being overpowering. The pork BBQ skewers had that classic smoky sweetness and were nicely charred. Service is straightforward and the vibe is casual. This is not fast food. If you come hungry and in a rush, you will get frustrated. If you come expecting fresh, cooked-on-the-spot Filipino food, you will leave happy. This is the kind of place you go to slow down, eat well, and enjoy food that is made properly. Enjoy time with family and talk; it's nice to enjoy your time while waiting for the food.

There were also several Filipino desserts and complimentary juice, while other drinks such as soda could purchased for an additional fee. While I appreciated the variety of food, I found the flavors to be fairly mild. More than the food, it was the atmosphere and experience that made this cruise memorable. I really enjoyed the scenic river ride and seeing all the lush greenery and tropical vegetation. I also liked the live entertainment. The local music and traditional dance performances were impressive and fun to watch. Some of us tourists even joined in the fun Filipino Tinikling dance.
