We stopped in twice in our week-long stay in Firenze, both times for coffee and pastries. The young lady working on both days was incredibly friendly, efficient, attentive and helpful - a feat, considering how busy they got not just with tourists, but locals alike.
The shop itself is bigger than it looks from the outside, with a long and narrow dining space on one side and the ordering counter, display cases and cashier on the other. They do also have plenty of outdoor seating, which was nice to have in the morning, when the sun wasn't quite at its worst.
Our first time in, we ordered coffee and their pistachio cornetto. And friends, let me tell you, the pistachio cornetto were the best we had in all of Italy! It got to the point where we were comparing every other cornetto to this one and found every other cornetto lacking. These things were light and crispy, buttery and crispy, and filled with the perfect amount of delectable pistachio cream. We still talk about these pastries, lamenting the fact we weren't able to have them again.
Because, on our second trip, we stopped in much later in the morning (our fist time we needed to grab something quick before a tour, so we were there a bit early), they were all out of the pistachio cornetto. Bummed but undeterred, I went with an almond pastry and my husband got the plain croissant, in addition to our coffee, of course.
The coffee drinks on both days were very good and we enjoyed every pastry we ordered - pistachio-filled or not. They did get busy on both days, which was a good sign (in our eyes), as we watched locals come in for a chat and a coffee, guys walk in, order a shot of espresso, pound it, drop a bill on the counter and saunter out, tourists like us tentatively walk in and peruse the pastry counter...it was a great find and one of our favorite stops. read more
