While on our way to Topsail from out of town, our check engine light started flashing and the engine was misfiring. Quick search for the nearest mechanic was Rick's. We showed up a little after 4 pm and even though they close at 5 pm, they took a look. They found the problem and got us back on the road. Awesome service and great people! read more

The reviews speak for themselves-Rick's Repair Service in Sneads Ferry took great care of my 2021 F-150. I came in with a shaking/misfire issue and instead of just throwing random parts at it, they spent the time to properly diagnose the problem. Turned out to be a bad ignition coil on cylinder 2, and they got it fixed quickly and at a fair price. What stood out most was the honesty and professionalism. They recommended a carbon cleaning service for later on but made it clear there was no pressure at all. The owner even told me he'd rather spend extra time diagnosing the issue correctly than waste my money replacing unnecessary parts, which is hard to find nowadays. Truck is running smooth again and I definitely trust these guys. Highly recommend Rick's Repair Service if you want honest mechanics that actually care about doing the job right. Kudos to these technicians, they have definitely earned my business in the future! read more

I am on vacation and a pulley barring broke, Rick's got repair done and now I am back on the beach. Thanks guys!!!

Rick's Repair Service is a gem! I called last minute needing just one tire, and they got me in the same day. Turns out I needed all four and an oil change badly! They ordered the rest and had me back first thing the next morning. Super quick, honest, and reliable. This is a family owned shop that truly takes care of its customers. I 100% trust them, which says a lot these days when it comes to mechanics. So grateful for their help! read more

Highly recommend. Both my son and I went for service and we both had the same experience: thorough, transparent, honest, knowledgeable, reliable, efficient. read more

I came in for a simple oil change and brake check (squeaky brakes irritate me), and asked them to diagnose a noise. When I got it back, they gave me the run-down on everything, helped diagnose those stupid brakes (high metallic content) and pinpointed the sound I was hearing. Since the sound wasn't something they could fix on-site, they didn't charge me, even for the time to diagnose. I walked out the door for less than if I went to a "Schmiffy Schmube" (Don't wanna get knocked for calling them out), and it's serviced by competent, certified mechanics rather than "technicians". Lastly, I watched Rick (THE Rick) take care of one of his employees, going out of his way to help their family when they had a minor emergency, allowing the employee to take care of them on the clock, and actually *caring* for his guys. When your boss does that for you, think of what your quality of work looks like. It shows here. Rick's is my go-to. As long as my car can make it there, that's where it'll go. read more

Came in for an oil change, little did I know these guys would literally be saving my car. The driveway is a tad narrow and the state won't allow the owners to cover the drainage ditch, swung in a little to wide and my car hit the edge of the ditch. Slid about three feet into the ditch before I was able to get the car to stop. Rick's guys saw what happened and ran out to tow me out of the ditch. Oh and they changed my oil and gave me a military discount. These guys are my mechanics forever now. read more

Oh my what can I say but whoohoo thanks for Ricks Repair Service!! Now let me tell you if you need your vehicle serviced this is the place to come. Ricks repair service does not make appointments. They are on first come first serve service. I came one day and brought 2 vehicles mine and my husbands. The same day I had a tire fixed and brought a new spare tire, had my vehicle serviced with oil change etc. I then brought my husbands vehicle down and had a tire fixed and serviced with oil change etc. All this folks done in one day within a matter of say 2 hours total time! The cost was very reasonable and needless to say I'm stoked because elsewhere we'd have paid astronomical prices . The employees here are very kind and professional giving top notch service! Rick himself is outstanding and professional. We have made Ricks Auto Repair our go to and we can't say enough good about his establishment and employees. If you need and type of service for your vehicle give Ricks Repair Service a call or stop by! read more

Ricks is always willing to get me in and help out! They are trustworthy! Glad to have a local shop!

A friend of mine had her car fixed here after having a rough go at her dealership and gushed about Rick's quality of care for her car and customer service. My 300,000 mi Prius needed a little touch up love so I called to see when they might be able to work on it. They were able to get it in. Not only were they prompt and reasonably priced but they were also professional and went above and beyond. I would not hesitate recommend this shop to my friends in this area. Thank you Rick's for your help. read more

Was down at Topsail for a vacation. Tried to get ahold of dealer because of a noise in the rear of my car, no response. Called Rick, he said bring it in and we will see what was wrong. Bad wheel bearing diagnosed in just a couple minutes. Had one of his guys drive me back so I could continue with my vacation. They had it fixed later that day, fair price good work, well run shop. As a side note I run a construction company and have a shop for our own vehicles and do outside work. I wish I could get guys like Rick to work for me!! Would not hesitate to take my car back. Old school shop where you feel you can trust everyone. read more

Excellent service. Saw me last minute at closing time and did a wonderful job patching my tire. Thank you!

Had a shake in the front end so I had them go over the van. Recommend $1200 in suspension repairs. I decided to take it to my shop back in The DC area, 2 new tires and a front end alignment all for $300 fixed the problem. Predatory on vacationers is my guess... read more

Had difficulty with another repair company that I felt was incompetent and too pricey. Felt welcomed at Rick's and the follow up with the issues was thorough. Will go to them from now on. read more

Have used Rick's Repair perhaps a dozen times over the past 8-10 years. Always responsive. Always available. Always willing.

Honest, straightforward, go out of their way to care for the customer. Worked on my vehicle the better part of a day. Couldn't help (not through any shortcomings on their part). Didn't charge me a dime. Then, Rick had it towed to someone else to have a look at it. Meanwhile, Rick did some research on his own. Called me and told me what he'd found. It was towed back to Rick's where it will be repaired (with 3yr unlimited warranty on parts) for $1000 less than the other guy. Rick kept me in the loop the entire time. Terrific business man. Terrific service. THEY FIXED IT! Sooner than expected, as well. Great folks. Great service. Above and beyond. read more

I had a tire go flat on me so I called Ricks to see if they did tire replacements. They didn't have my tire size, but they said they could order them and have them the next day. I called ahead to confirm they had the tires and brought my vehicle in to have it fixed. It took them about an hour and the price was lower than I anticipated. They were friendly, efficient, and affordable. read more

Great service, great work and an excellent price!! Brought the car in for a timing belt, water pump, tune up and an oil change. They quoted us a great price and told us when we dropped off our car Wednesday after hours that we could expect to have it back on Monday. On a quick getaway with my wife. Oil change in 20 minutes. Awesome!

These guys really came through for me. I drive a unique car and needed my oil changed. They had neither the oil nor the filter for it, and it was a half hour before closing time. Not only did they agree to stay open past their closing time of 5, they were able to procure both the oil and filters to facilitate the change. I will definitely be a return customer. read more

Same day walk in service for an oil change. Affordable, friendly, quick. We just moved to the area, so I was nervous about setting up with a new garage and was very pleasantly surprised that we found one so fast! They were great. I had bad breaks and they were fixed in a few hours. Price was great. No upselling. Courteous and professional. New and town and was pleasantly surprised. New experience. Had a hose blow on my AC at 4 Friday afternoon. No part in any store. Hussled to Jacksonville to a junk yard and had it installed that evening before a long weekend trip. And drive me home and picked me up so I didn't have to wait. Rick and his crew are top notch. read more

Cost me 45$ just for them to hook up the scanner to my car & tell me that there was nothing they could do to help me.

Came in for a diagnostic on my oil leak, they took me right in, fixed my car and I was out within 30 minutes. They're polite, informative and don't try to upsell their services. My new go to shop for sure! read more

Had to pick up a vehicle which they were contracted to tow from Surf City for being illegally parked. I understand that it needed to be done, but the customer service throughout the ordeal was horrendously unprofessional. They refused to take any form of payment other than cash, to include a money order or cashier's check. Upon picking up the vehicle and paying with $250 cash, we weren't provided a receipt for services rendered, but instead, we were instructed to return on Monday during normal business hours for a receipt. I will not be returning to this business, other than to retrieve my receipt, even though it's the closest repair shop to my house. read more

Everyone at Rick's is fantastic. Great service, affordable and very honest. My husband and I have taken our vehicles there several times. Most recently, I took my car in for an issue with the steering wheel and they informed me my steering coupler needed to be replaced. Even better, they researched and found out this was a common problem with my car and that the manufacturer extended the warranty on the part so that I could get it repaired for free at the dealership. This saved me hundreds and I am so appreciative that they were honest and upfront, I would've never thought to even contact the dealership. Thanks Ricks, we won't take our cars anywhere else! read more

I wish I could give more stars to this place! Ricks was outstanding service! Coming from working at an auto shop myself before the Navy, there service was the best I have ever had. Straight forward to the point what's wrong, take care of you and ensure you are safe and at an extremely affordable price! Military discount as well which was a great surprise! Will continue to use their service as well as recommend them to anyone in the Jacksonville area! Great work and thank you! Brandon A read more

I took my car in for a new CV boot. I called in advance and was told they would replace the entire axle and was given a $120-$140 estimate. I brought in the car and asked for a better estimate and was told I would be called with the estimate when they looked at the car. When I got the call I was told my vehicle was already done and the total was $208! I asked why and they said they had to add 2 quarts of transmission fluid and that added $95. I told him that was completely unacceptable and that I was quoted 120-140. He then said that was only for parts. (still doesn't add up, and the story is changing). I said he would need to come up wirh a solution to the problem. He said he would have to call me back and speak to his boss. He called back later and said the bill would be $165. I can handle that cost, but still an unacceptable practice. In my opinion if there is more to do than the original reason for the visit then you call the customer and get permission. Also, when the customer wants an estimate you call with the estimate before you start work. The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the vehicle was ready when promised. However, the misleading and dishonest practice of doing work without asking and jacking up the price is why I will not return and why I would not recommend this company to anyone else. read more

My car crapped the bed as soon as I got up here from Florida. I dropped my car off 2 minutes before they closed and they said they would give me a call when they figured out what was wrong. The next morning they called at around 8 o'clock, told me what was wrong, gave me a quote for a little more than 700$ and said it wouldn't be done till Monday (they called on a Saturday). Well fast forward to Saturday afternoon, they called to say it was ready for pickup and told me it would be 500$ because it didn't take him quite as long as he thought. I got there and the guy showed me the nasty corroded parts he replaced and told me the best way he thought to prevent it. Professional group of guys! Highly recommend them. read more

I will never take my car to any other auto shop besides Ricks. They are AWESOME! This place and Rick are awesome. My husband is stationed at camp lejeune and I drove down from Boston in an 06 Acura that needed a bunch of service a month ago. He helped me same day, with incredibly fair prices and such friendly help that time. Couldn't recommend more highly! read more
