This place is awesome! One day we were on our way to BARC, a nearby recycling service, to drop off some bottles and cans, and it said closed! It was a Saturday afternoon and it's closed?!?! My dad was angry and he asked me to search other recycling centers nearby. That's when I found Rick's. We drove there and were instantly greeted by an employee. There was a man backing up in the parking lot, who let us by before getting out of his parking space. After we got the money for our cans and bottles (they pay you about the same as the other places) we got in our van, and couldn't get out of the parking spot! A few, not one but A FEW employees came out and helped us back out of the parking lot with no damage! After we left, my dad was happy with our courteous service, and said we'd go again for sure. I got off the bus at 1:20pm & went over to the recycling center & refused service for absolutely no reason whatsoever. At $1.80 a pound for aluminum cans, you would think they need customers. However, Rick's recycling told me to get lost & said it was lunch time when their sign says between 12:30-1pm. So they lied to me. Be aware of their behavior when going to Rick's recycling. Better yet, a better attitude for recycling is the recycling is on S. Union Avenue at Casa Loma Drive with the same aluminum cans price at $1.80 per pound. read more

Rip off. I had 2 big blue trash cans full of cans plus 2 40 gal trash bags of cans. Then we filled 3 of there trash cans up with plastic containers and he tried to give me $45 I complained to Rick immediately and he gave me 15 more dollars. We re-cycle all the time and at 1.90 a pound the blue trash cans from the city of Bakersfield gives me between 38-45 dollars a piece. I will be calling weights and measures and consumer affairs. I also will notify sheriffs fraud unit. Rick be prepared for some secret shops. read more

I recycle is part of my business model. We have tried different recycling facilities in town and have found Rick's to be fair, equitable, and desiring for us to get the most out of what we recycle and how. I don't think I will be going any place else anytime soon! read more
