Drove out of my way to get here before closing. Turns out it is now SOS RECYCLE CENTER, and of course with totally different hours than what's listed for C&J Recycling. It's still right behind Del Taco in the parking lot though as someone previously mentioned. I'm posting pictures so people know and can find this yelp review to avoid wasting time and gas. I'm sure they are great people, but have no notice of this. They need to update all this online and hopefully this gives them their own "SOS" message to get to it!! Quite literally. read more

This place was terrible. The scale readouts were located where you couldn't read them. The amount I received was far lower than any other recycling place I have been to in Bakersfield. read more

They are just paying themselves, it's too young boys running it and they BARELY give you anything you'd have better luck going to an actual recycling center. I learned my lesson! read more

Good recycling place. You sort your own recyclables so it's faster than the places where you wait for them to do it. Both the guys working there were friendly. The place was clean. I will definitely return in the future. read more

I have been coming here for years; they are ALWAYS courteous, efficient, knowledgeable, friendly. I don't recycle very often, as I generate very little, so when I make a mistake they not only fix it for me but take the time to explain why, what's recyclable & what's not. They have always been superfast, & if they aren't too busy will help me carry/move the barrels, as I am a senior & they can be heavy. I appreciate them very much! read more

If I could I would use no stars. I went to the location on Ming Ave. It was the first time I had been there. I had some questions. I asked one fellow there who just pointed. Turns out he doesn't speak English. Okay. I get that. The next guy I spoke to advised the first fellow didn't speak English. I then asked my questions. He answered my questions. He then asked me why I had an attitude. As a customer service rep, I go into situations with no attitude. I know people are tough. If asking questions means I have an attitude, then that gentleman does not know what "having an attitude" means. I won't lie. I did have an attitude after that. My husband had emptied one out sack of recyclables into one of the receptacles already. I gave them to one of the customers who were in line and left. I will never go back there again. We went to New World Recycling where we would go prior to moving. We were treated with respect. I will tell everyone who will listen not to go there. Go anywhere but there. read more

The C & J Recycling center located on Stockdale Hwy next to El Pollo Loco has some great guys working there. I am hard of hearing. One of the guys working there had to repeat what he said 3 times and was very kind and patient. He brought me the cans that I needed to my car. This is the one I will be going to for now on. read more

I was reminded about this place by a bum that was riding his bicycle on the side of the road he let me know that it was on the 99 Cent Store parking lot behind Del Taco even if you get there with a long line it's not very long wait kind of sucks California only pays for certain plastic bottles when they should pay for all the bottles cuz we're such an expensive state read more

Rude. Sometimes they'll tell me not to sort and other times yell at me for not sorting. Dirty location and low ball rates. I understand you have to make money too but I'm sure you get 4-5x what you pay out. Never coming again. read more

They were awesome. Very friendly gentlemen and really made you feel welcome. After 6 months of recycyling it was a pretty good return back.

Easy peezie and usually open later than other places. Today is the busiest Ive ever seen it but usually its in and out in less than 20 min

This is one of those recycling places where they weigh the items. I came here at around 1:30pm on a Monday. There were 2-3 other parties in line. I grabbed a couple of bins (trash cans designated for this purpose) and began sorting them out. One of gentlemen running the place helped me sort and get the bins in line. I only got $11.50 for a few plastic bottles, 1.6lbs of aluminum cans, 2.5lbs of wine bottles, 1.2lbs of clear glass, and 60.9lbs of beer bottles. I'm really not an expert, but it seemed to be quite the low ball. I've received at least twice that at other places for the amount of beer bottles I brought in alone. They had me sign the receipt which has all the weights & rates spelled out and give you cash on the spot. I'll be looking around for a place with better rates. read more

I had a total of 23 pounds in plastics plus cans and only recieved 20 bucks for everything. Some days I get paid the right amount and then there's days where they pay themselves out of our recycling. And you know it's the truth. Because I took them in for my neighbor and i asked for the receipt to give to her, he still asked me if I wanted him to put down that I only received $10 bucks. That tells me that yes, they pay themselves. I don't want to be out looking for cans and plastics, but I have to and when they take whatever it is that they want, yes it freaking bothers me watching them just help themselves. All bad guy's. I don't have the luxury to drive myself so yes I have to walk from far away just for them to give me whatever they want if they in a good mood. read more

Do not go to the one on Mt vernon! They fill there trash cans with water and then tell you they are taking part of your money because the water makes it heavier! Not my fault. Looks like they are trying to line there own pockets to me!!!! Will never go there again read more
