62 years ago today, October 3, 1960, The Andy Griffith Show premiered. It was first televised on…read moreCBS between October 3, 1960 and April 1, 1968. The show, a semi-spin-off from an episode of The Danny Thomas Show, stars Andy Griffith, who portrays the widowed sheriff of the fictional small community of Mayberry, North Carolina. His life is complicated by an inept, but well-meaning deputy, Barney Fife (Don Knotts), a spinster aunt and housekeeper, Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), and a precocious young son, Opie (Ron Howard). Local ne'er-do-wells, bumbling pals, and temperamental girlfriends further complicate his life. Regarding the time-period of the show, Griffith said in a Today Show interview: "Well, though we never said it, and though it was shot in the 1960s, it had a feeling of the 1930s. It was, when we were doing it, of a time gone by." The Black and white reruns currently air on TV Land and Me-TV, while the complete series is available on DVD often playing at what should be your favorite barber shop.

I visited the Boulevard for the first time a few weeks ago. It had been a LONG time since I stepped…read moreout of a barber/salon and was 100% happy with my experience. Right as I walked in, I got a friendly hello from a few of the staff, and my wait time was virtually non-existent. However, the real MVP of my first visit was my barber Audrey (she goes by Archery). I only had to use a few key words/phrases for her to understand the look I was going for. During my time in the chair, she was super friendly. I quickly assessed that Archery knew exactly what she was doing. Overall, fantastic first visit to the Boulevard, and definitely won't be my last. If you make this your barber, make sure you ask for Archery!

I visited Boulevard Barber & Style today for a haircut. The sign clearly said "walk-ins are…read morewelcome," so I went in and sat down. However, no one acknowledged me. After waiting for a while, another gentleman walked in after me, and a barber immediately started cutting his hair. At that moment, I felt uncomfortable and disappointed. As someone from another country, it made me wonder if I was being treated differently based on my background. I got frustrated and decided to leave. As I was heading out, one of the barbers stopped me and asked why I was leaving. I explained the situation. He asked if I had an appointment, and I said no. He then told me I was actually next, which convinced me to come back in. While I was returning, I overheard the barber who had taken the other customer mention he had another appointment coming up. That made me feel like he was intentionally avoiding taking me as a customer. Thankfully, another barber stepped in and offered to take care of me. Derriance Hughes ended up doing my haircut and beard trim, and I have to say--he did an excellent job. I was very satisfied with the result. He was professional, attentive, and delivered exactly what I wanted. Going forward, I will return to this shop only if Derriance is available. I've taken his contact and will book appointments directly with him to avoid confusion. Overall Rating: (4/5) Great service from Derriance, but the initial experience could have been handled much better. If I experience anything like this again, I will reconsider my rating.

I have never received a worse haircut in my entire life. He cut a giant asymmetrical chunk out of…read moremy bangs on the right side. I was very specific and even showed him a picture of what I wanted, he proceeded to cut it much shorter than I asked him to, and carved out a chunk of my bangs so huge that it can't be covered or corrected by a different barber that presumably wouldn't be afflicted with the same ineptitude. It's so scuffed that you could probably tell I have a bad cut even if I wear a hat just from the bangs sticking out on one side and not the other. When I brought this up he proceeded to tell me that it is due to the way my hair grows. When I pulled my hair back to show him that my hairline is even on both sides he didn't have another excuse. I am not normally someone that complains and I have never taken the time to leave a review before, but this cut is so bad that I wonder if it was intentional, surely this is a result of malicious intention and not something a serious barber is capable of doing when actually trying. I could live with a bad haircut, but this haircut makes me look like I was in a car accident and needed a random part of my scalp shaved in preparation for brain surgery. Do not mistake this for a joke review. TLDR; My bangs look like they were cut by a high speed sawblade ejection
