I visited the Boulevard for the first time a few weeks ago. It had been a LONG time since I stepped out of a barber/salon and was 100% happy with my experience. Right as I walked in, I got a friendly hello from a few of the staff, and my wait time was virtually non-existent. However, the real MVP of my first visit was my barber Audrey (she goes by Archery). I only had to use a few key words/phrases for her to understand the look I was going for. During my time in the chair, she was super friendly. I quickly assessed that Archery knew exactly what she was doing. Overall, fantastic first visit to the Boulevard, and definitely won't be my last. I visited Boulevard Barber & Style today for a haircut. The sign clearly said "walk-ins are welcome," so I went in and sat down. However, no one acknowledged me. After waiting for a while, another gentleman walked in after me, and a barber immediately started cutting his hair. At that moment, I felt uncomfortable and disappointed. As someone from another country, it made me wonder if I was being treated differently based on my background. I got frustrated and decided to leave. As I was heading out, one of the barbers stopped me and asked why I was leaving. I explained the situation. He asked if I had an appointment, and I said no. He then told me I was actually next, which convinced me to come back in. While I was returning, I overheard the barber who had taken the other customer mention he had another appointment coming up. That made me feel like he was intentionally avoiding taking me as a customer. Thankfully, another barber stepped in and offered to take care of me. Derriance Hughes ended up doing my haircut and beard trim, and I have to say--he did an excellent job. I was very satisfied with the result. He was professional, attentive, and delivered exactly what I wanted. Going forward, I will return to this shop only if Derriance is available. I've taken his contact and will book appointments directly with him to avoid confusion. Overall Rating: (4/5) Great service from Derriance, but the initial experience could have been handled much better. If I experience anything like this again, I will reconsider my rating. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Had a sign posted that said "flat top specialist" which is essentially what I asked for and Mo (if that really is his name) proceeded to nearly bald the top of my head. The worst hair cut I've ever received, STAY AWAY. read more

I have been to so many barbers in Nashville and none of them seem to ever get the haircut/beard trim combo right for me. BUT TODAY! I finally found a great place with that true authentic barber style and experience. The Boulevard Barber shop was excellent, authentic, easy, and chill. The girl that had been cutting my hair for 20 years left town. After a flurry of bad haircuts I finally walked into the boulevard barber and style shop after a dentist appointment. I was starting to look like one of the characters on dumb and dumber. It was a friendly atmosphere right off the bat and a couple of nice guys were cutting hair. Chris, the guy that cut my hair, was down to earth and easy to talk to. But the best thing about this guy is he is a professional barber. Well after neglecting my haircut for at least 9 months I was sick and tired of baseball hats, not to mention all that hair makes it tougher to wear 1. I searched for some place near me to cut my hair as I recently lost the woman that used to cut my hair. I found them on Yelp and after seeing their pics realized I knew where they were, down Old Hickory towards Lakewood. I walked in and the owner, and Barber, Chris had a apron in hand and was "ushering" me into his chair like a bull fighter taunts a bull. Told him its been awhile, showed him a pic of what I used to do with my hair, and asked for a little input on a direction to go. Chris quickly had some ideas based on how often I wanted to cut it, and my hair itself. I was in and out in 30 mins. And this is not because he just whacked my hair and sent me on my way. This aint no Sports Clips, although they do have TVs here on ESPN bit more on that in a sec. He was quick, yet thorough. How often do you go home after a cut and find that they didnt get all the hair from behind your ears? Right I know. Not here. Hit all the points and had me lookin good quickly. The big upside here, only $12 for a cut! The atmosphere is laid back but not dumpy. Nice brick cut stone walls with large flat panel TVs on the wall. Plenty of chairs for waiting customers set in a long almost shotgun style shop. Guys, I will be coming back here EVERY TIME I need a cut again. read more

I don't tag along with hubby every time he gets his hair "done"; however, we had errands to run so I was with him this go around. So, on behalf of my husband, I am writing to say he is a big fan of this place. He gets the haircut he wants at a VERY reasonable price. He sees Shane and is always pleased with his cut. Mind you, my husband is a perfectionist and getting a scissor and razor cut on fine, straight hair is not as simple as one may think - it takes some finesse to pull it off properly. The place is clean and well kept. The big screen TVs were showing the football games so patrons were entertained while they waited because this place was absolutely packed! That, in my humble opinion, is a darn, good sign. All the barbers and the two female stylists (yes, woman are welcome at this place too) had people in their seats and were all attentive to the needs of their respective clientele. My husband likes the bantering with his barber. I guess it is the similar thing of all chit-chatting I do with my stylist only more about sports and the like versus my girly conversations..... All and all, based on what hubs thinks and what I witnessed, I would recommend this place. read more

Visiting Nashville on business trip for first time and needed haircut. Said a quick prayer for the LORD to lead me to a good place. I found this place on Yelp and I go in and Dennis (owner) immediately jumps up to help me. While he is cutting my hair I see verses from the Bible on a small whiteboard next to his station. I was tired of the Chain Store approach to hair cuts. I went to this shop for the first time today and was welcomed in like one of the gang. Craig cut my hair neat and clean and they even shave your neck. Good place nice guys - and I heard they cut women's hair and I'm taking my son there to get his next haircut. A great establishment. I go to Rodderick and he gets my cut perfect every time. They are a great group to sit around and listen to as they shoot the breeze with one another and the customers. At times, it can be a bit of a wait, but the couches are comfortable as the banter going back and forth. Dennis, Rivas, and Rodderick are the main stays behind this movement/business, and with the Bible verses here and there, their ministries to others in the community, and their drive to be the best, they are the ones I've stuck with for the last 8-9 years. MAKE SURE U ARENT A WALK IN OR U WILL BE TREATED LIKE I DID!!! My first visit was a success and I loved my cut and the price was excellent!! However my second visit was a visit that will make me NEVER return...Upon entering and empty shop about 45 min before closing on a saturday afternoon I went to the restroom(which had no paper towels or toilet paper) to walk out to a now packed shop.. I waited my turn patiently and upon going to the chair for my cut I was told that A man and his young children were ahead of me, astonished I told him that I was in the restroom and they came in after me he still disagreed and the man didn't even speak up on my behalf since, I assumed he was a regular customer of the barber/owner so I just left if this is the kind of establishment that they have where the new customers are as important as the regulars than I will choose not to ever give them my business I was referred by a friend who also NO LONGER goes to this shop hmmmm I wonder why...
