Let me start by stating clearly that I have not used Rick John Roofing for any repairs or roof work, and for all that I know, they do quality work. My intent is to address the integrity of the owner. In December of 2025, one of their trucks clipped the front end of my car. Nothing serious, but $2000.00 worth of damage. The driver contacted the owner and I was told that the owner would pay for the damage rather than turn it into insurance. I provided him with the estimate and have attempted to contact him multiple times to find out what is going on. He has not responded at all, despite his voicemail stating that he will return your call ASAP. I am now faced with hiring an attorney and pursuing this legally. I don't know about anyone else, and his company may do excellent work, but I would have difficulty trusting anyone who I feel has no integrity. read more

I generally do not write reviews, but my experience with Rich and his team was so stellar, I had to share. First, I contacted our tile manufacturer to get contractor recommendations, as I had previously hired a company that specialized in tile roofs, but that had not done a good job for us. The fact that Rick John was among the names provided by Ludowici said a lot to me. Second, when Rich came to the house, he took time to understand what our situation was, and he even flew a drone so he could get a closer look at the roof to help assess and map out next steps. As opposed to a project price, Rich proposed an hourly rate for the work. I was very skeptical, because I felt like I was giving them a blank check, and I had no idea how much the project would ultimately cost. In the end, however, I see that he was trying to be fair to both of us. His team worked diligently and efficiently, and I feel that the final price was very fair. Third, when Nick came on site to do the work, he was an absolute gentleman and professional. He was engaging, and took time to update me on what he was finding, and listened thoughtfully as I provided additional information on the issues we had been experiencing. He treated my home and me with the utmost respect, and he clearly takes pride in doing excellent work. Overall, Rick John provides something that is hard to find in the residential construction industry - - a honest, professional, trustworthy partner. There was one part of our roof that needed additional attention as it kept leaking They said for an extra $1,300 they would use a sealant that would fix it. Did not work after a week. I had a great experience with RickJohn. Over the past few years I've had a leak in the ceiling of my kitchen every 3-5 years. People have had theories of the cause of the problem and have made fixes. It happened again this year. I was unable to get my usual roofer and reached out to RickJohn. Rick came the next day to assess it and sent Keith the following day to start the work. I kept thinking "I need a forensic roofer that can finally find the cause of this and fix it". That's who Keith was. I could tell he was very knowledgeable in detecting the causes of leaks. He found a cause and fixed it. The next day it rained and HE called me to see if there was any problem. It was leaking and he came the next day to continue to look for causes. He did a lot of different things to fix possible causes and when it rained a few days later HE called again and this time I could happily report no leaks. I cannot emphasize how responsive they were and how grateful I am to take the time to find the causes of the problem. read more

Contacted Rick John for 2 estimates and he agreed to meet me at my house for 2 separate estimates, the appointment was for the very next day 1/7/21 @ 9:30 am. At 10 am NO ONE showed up and the owner had NO idea. The owner stated he told his employees to just fix the damage. That was NOT the agreement! The agreement was for them to give me an estimate. I have learned if a company can't get their act together before they they are hired for the job- that is a HUGE red flag that they don't deserve your business. The owner couldn't get the first communication correct and his employees couldn't even call to inform me they were going to be late..... bad impression & NOT worth my time. read more

I had my entire roof replaced by Rickjohn seven years ago. They used subpar materials (cedar shake), left roofing nails and scrap tiles, and clogged all of my gutters with debris. It was an expensive job and the quality was poor. I have been in communication with the owner for a section of the roof that allows moisture in and he continues to tell me he will take care of it. It's been seven years! Their follow-up service is non-existent. I'm finally going to do what I should have done several years ago.... legal action. read more

I wish I could review Rickjohn's actual work, but I can't. We set up an appointment to get a leaky skylight fixed. The technician no-showed for the first appointment because he "forgot" (we waited at home all day for him). Then he cancelled the next two appointments with less than 24 hours notice. After 3 missed appointments in 8 days, we'll obviously be going with a different roofing company now. read more

I asked for a quote to consider this company for my roofing job. The salesman was a bit abrasive. He asked me if I had gotten other quotes and from what companies. Once past that, he told me that if I gave him $1,000 today, they could start next week. If I received a quote I liked better, he'd return my check to me. I don't even buy groceries that quick, let alone a roof. I felt like I was dealing with a pushy car salesman. I know that my roofing job should be somewhere between $5,000 and $7,000. He came in at $9,600 and said anything in my range would be "junk." I would not recommend even getting a quote from this company. Bad tactics. read more
