Me and my buddy had such a good time tonight at Young Guns of Comedy! It was my first ever comedy show ever and I absolutely loved my experience. It was a 10/10, there was only 1 server, Dianne I think her name was, and she did such a great job serving everyone! They didn't expect such a big turnout so that's why there was only 1 server. But start to finish every comedian had really good jokes and made the audience feel like a big part of the show. I would recommend everybody at least come here and experience Young Guns of Comedy once, I guarantee you'll be hooked. Thank you for such a great experience!

A wonderful way to spend an evening with friends or loved ones. I frequent here often and even have enjoyed the amateur shows. The food is normal pub like food and the servers definitely try to be prompt even with a large crowd.

Mix of amateurs and Pro Comedians. Fun night full of laughter. Entry was only 4$ plus tax. They have 4$ appies and drinks however, they select which ones are the "special." Today was peroggies and beer. I opted for a dinner from the main menu. Had the beef brisket burger and it was great. Not much to the sides. 16$. More there for the company of friends and show. Id probably go back for Pro show rather than the mix.

Sometimes finding things to do in this city gets extremely repetitive. You find yourself doing the same things every weekend and the comic strip is a great way to change things up. They usually have good comedians and sometimes bring in the bigger names as well. They serve great food but the place is a bit pricey so be prepared to spend a few dollars to enjoy yourself. It's a great way to kick off your weekend, have some drinks, some laughs and enjoy.

We came here to see the American Filipino comedian JoKoy. He has a couple of Netflix specials. He's…read moreextremely funny and very popular. I immediately bought tickets for my family when I found out he would be performing here. In fact, this show was sold out 6 months ago!! This was my first time to come to The Venue. I thought it looked spacious. The lighting and the awesome music got me pumped! The atmosphere was very club like. I was glad to see that there were washrooms close by. There was no need to go out into the casino and to re-enter. I was also grateful that there were quite a number of stalls available. When there is booze at a venue, it is very convenient to have nearby washrooms. We had assigned seating. Large free standing signs indicated the sections (eg. Section B). Our rows and sections were also indicated by signs on the floors (under the chairs along the aisles) and seat numbers on the chairs. During the show, JoKoy was joking about how the The Venue looked more like a tent, instead of a theatre. I have to admit the white interior looked plastic and tent like. But overall, I feel that the venue adequately served its purpose. I appreciated the giant screens that advertised upcoming events. I was also glad for the opportunity to have a close up view of JoKoy, because of these large screens. The main floor seats were all on the same level. It would've been nice if the seats were on an incline or if there were risers, to allow for a better view of the stage. There was an upper level viewing lounge at the back. Those seats had tables. I would definitely consider coming back here again. The quality of the talent that comes to perform here are impressive. A definite draw. For me, I had a good time for my first experience here!

We were at Billy Idol last night. And the sound was so terrible we had to leave early. The bass was…read moreso loud that when I sat down, I could feel the vibration in my chest. Even my phone was vibrating in my hands. At one point, the speakers blew and started that high pitch ringing noise. This hurt my ear so much I started feeling nausea. Now, let me start off by saying that I am a musician. I have 40 years of experience and started performing at 6 years old in my first recital. I've been to the majority of venues in town and even performed at the Festival Place. This was SO disappointing. I don't know if the venue was at fault, or the band. Billy Idol was disappointing as well. He was terribly out of shape and out of breath by the third song. I thought he was going to collapse on stage. Anyone who gave him a high rating for that performance - has no clue. It was awful. I'm pretty sure he missed some lyrics and he let the band do most of the work. The band however, was top notch. Steve Stevens was the selling point for me and made the trip worth it. For $133.25 per ticket, I expected better. Ticket prices are ridiculous. And not worth it for this venue. The highlight of the night was Steve Stevens. And literally, running into the band as they were rushing into the venue. They were late and obviously missed soundcheck. The resort itself is fine for all kinds of functions. But the venue needs work. I've been to a lot of rock concerts. U2. Bon Jovi. Alanis. Even Twisted Sister - and none were as terrible as the show was last night. I wanted to love it. But as a previous performer, I just couldn't. I've never walked out early out of a concert. But the combination of being surrounded by drunk people and the busted speakers, we just couldn't deal. My ears are still ringing today.

Friends of ours had a 50% off discount code for the general admission tickets so we were able to get 4 seats for $85. There are ringside and VIP seating also available which is closer to the ring. We stood in line and had to have our hard copy printed tickets ready to hand over. Upon entering, you're greeted with the scent of popcorn, mini donuts, and hot dogs. All the food items were your basic circus food, nothing out of the ordinary but the prices were sky high. $5 for a bottle of water (Nestle Life water), $5 for a can of pop, $5 for small cotton candy, $5 for a hot dog, $20 for a bucket of mini donuts. They also had some pretty cool light up wands which were $30 each. Face painting was available for $15 and pony rides (which were basically dwarf horses hooked up to a circular thing that guides them to walk in a circle) were $15 as well. The performances were spectacular and the kids and adults alike were all amazed with the acts. Highly recommend for this alone as this was everyone's favourite part. Just like everything recovering from the pandemic has been hard for the circus and so this was their first year back on the road. I look forward to many more circuses to come in the future and will be prepared for the cash spend next time.

Review: John @ Starlight Casino (Thursday Night)…read more Okay, can we talk about John for a second? Because I hit the Starlight this past Thursday and honestly, finding a bartender who can actually keep up with my energy is like finding a flight deal to Tokyo for $400--rare, beautiful, and slightly miraculous. John is absolute chaos in the best way possible. The man was moving faster than I do when I hear "final boarding call" at the airport. I watched him handle a drink order that sounded like a chemistry dissertation while simultaneously nodding along to some guy's very loud, very wrong life story. The level of "professional hostage-taker" patience he has is truly a gift. (Tru story); At one point, I'm pretty sure he made three drinks, grabbed a fresh bowl of limes, and cracked a joke that had the whole bar wheezing, all without breaking eye contact with the shaker. If that isn't worth a massive raise, I don't know what is. Seriously, pay the man more before I decide to pack him in my suitcase and take him on my next solo trip as a personal hydration specialist. John is the literal jackpot of this casino. 10/10, no notes, give him all the money. See you next Thursday!

You know, that ink filled thing that they dab on the numbers of the bingo card. Well anyway, when my partner and I got to the cashier, we asked her what the most popular game(s) were, and told her that we wanted in on it. We also told her we wanted a machine, because the machine does pratically everything for you. All you need to do, is scream out "bingo", if you got one. They have these super cool and friendly volunteers roaming the room selling addtional cards for different games. We had no clue what they were, but they were only a buck a card, so why not? The only thing was, we needed daubers to play. So off I went to the cashier to buy a couple, and we were ready to begin! As one would expect, I messed up my card trying to focus on the machine and that darn dauber. Not forgetting to mention that I yelled out "bingo" when all my machine was trying to tell me was I needed one more number. Who knew that the flashing number meant that, that was the number I needed? Hahaha, we had a good laugh! My partner wanted to crawl under the table until everything was over. Lol! This bingo hall is super clean, and the restrooms were exceptionally well maintained. They do have a snack bar, but nothing worthy of writing about. As for the employees and volunteers? They were stellar! Very friendly, patient and helpful. CardSharks Memorabila Store - Storefront

CardSharks Memorabila Store

CardSharks specializes mainly in signed sports collectibles such as pucks, helmets, and sticks…read more Most of their signed items are photos though. The photos are all encased in black wooden frames with a small title placard. I guess the placard is for if you have no idea whose photo you just bought. They also come with a certificate of authenticity. The prices of the sports photos vary widely depending on how popular the athlete in question is this week but they start at around $120-ish. It's not all sports though. They also have signed photos of famous actors and rock stars. Most of the actor photos are from genre entertainment such as Star Trek, Star Wars, 1960s-era Batman, Battlescar Galactica, etc. These range in price from $250 - $400 (give or take) at this store. I would venture to guess that most of the actor photos here were obtained at comic cons where they can be purchased for around $40 - $60 and signed in person by the celebrity in question. Pretty much all of the actors whose signed photos are for sale here make frequent appearances at these conventions. Stores like Card Sharks then flip these photos for five times as much as they paid for them. Sure, they come framed from Card Sharks but the frame isn't worth the extra few hundred bucks. You might want to save your money and just attend the next Edmonton or Calgary Expo and get your photo(s) signed by your favourite star yourself. There's a signed Alice Cooper photo here for $269.95. I got the exact same photo signed for me at last year's Edmonton Expo for $40 and I obviously got to meet him too. On the same token they have a signed photo of KISS (the current line-up) for $1000. When KISS come to your town they charge that same price for a meet and greet which includes an autograph session. I think you see where I'm going with this. Obviously the advice I gave in the above paragraph doesn't apply if you want signatures from deceased stars like Leonard Nimoy and James Doohan - both of which they have in stock. And yes, they charge more for the dead people than they do for the live ones so get in there and purchase your William Shatner and George Takei autographs while they're still breathing. I'm still giving 3 stars because the store is a lot of fun to browse around in.

The kid behind the counter warned me that their nachos weren't like the regular theaters nachos. I did know they came with sour cream and guacamole...right? Um...yeah. That's why I ordered it. He made it sound like a bad thing. The poutine was apparently tasty, but not very hot. I actually really liked my nachos, even though the cheese sauce lacked flavor, the generous puddles of sour cream and guacamole made up for it. Theater prices, but you can use your Scene card. Also, we saw the latest Star Trek movie, with the Panoramic view. I think this is a brand new thing--new for us anyway. The movie has a couple of extra screens on the sides for a little bit of extra footage. They tack on a bit more admission for this, but I used some points on my Scene card to cushion that. The troll and I are in agreement. The panoramic view made some scenes really cool, but were completely unnecessary in others. Made for some impressive battle scenes, a cooler space station, and flashy credits. We also agree that the Panoramic view would have MUCH more impressive if it didn't have corners. The images don't meld together. They could be jarring at times. Oh well...new technology and it will most likely improve over time. Loved the Star Trek movie, but I'm not sure i'd pay extra to see this one or any others with the three screen view.
