Norm's knowledge on their appliances was outstanding. We stuck the budget we had and found the right refrigerator for us. Now comes the day of delivery. The crew was thee... most professional group I've come across. They took the hydraulic pistons off the storm door, they also took the front door off as an added measure of safety. They reattached the water line for the ice maker. They took all the plastic and tape found inside the doors and compartments. If I could the rating would be 0 bought a thru the GE AC last year well now it doesn't work went to the store to let them know well they said the warranty I paid for is for 5 years and the first 2 are under ge and the last 3 are another company the sales men gave me a reference number and to call ge myself and that was last month ge said I have to remove the no good one and install the new one well some trucking company delivered the new one and not in a truck it was his personal car and I'm having back surgery in 2 weeks the new ac was the wrong one now have start all over again buyer beware stay away once they have your money they don't want to know you read more

Richmond appliances came to my place to diagnose a loud banging sound the washing machine was making. They diagnosed the problem fast and were very efficient with following up and scheduling also very Accommodating. I am happy with the the overall service, Richmond appliance of Staten Island are priced fairly and offer a 90 day warranty on parts replaced. They didn't really clean up the mess or take the old parts but the repair was completed and washer works like new. I literally cannot say enough positive things about this store. They may not be a big box but they know their stuff and treat you with courtesy. We ordered appliances from another store to get the run around and end up cancelling our order. Not only was Richmond appliance cheaper ( so much for rock bottom block Friday prices) we actually got our stove when we were told we would. If you are dead serious about buying appliances this is not the place to go. I had my kitchen ripped out and custom built so when the contractor was ready he gave me the exact dimensions and models to purchase on a piece of paper along with the price he can get them for. I told him that I knew a local place I would & give them a shot being I knew someone that worked there. It is a family owned business yet ran very poorly. When I entered the store I was greeted by one of the sons who I then handed a piece of paper with exact make model's and sizes (I did not show him the prices of course). All he had to do was simply look on the computer and add up the prices.I knew my contractor was going to tack on a couple of bucks yet this is individual at Richmond appliance quoted me a price of $4000 more I then proceeded to ask him if he could do a little better if I paid cash and the items were not to be installed, only delivered.. he said no and let me walk out the door. The next day I went to Brooklyn ,Handed the individual The same exact piece of paper and his first question was, are you paying cash? I replied yes and his price was $3000 less than my contractors and $8000 less than Richmond appliance. I guess they didn't need $26,000 when daddy can help them out.. read more

Had a major issue with a washer I recently bought. I called the salesman, Michael, and he stepped right up and resolved the issue to more than our satisfaction. He handled it in such a way that I believe that is their normal process, and not an exception. I don't recognize the people or place described in the 1-star reviews. I bought independent rather than big-box hoping for better, more personal service. I got more than I hoped for. In future, I will always go there first. read more

After the wash phase of a load of laundry, my front loading washing machine was not draining the wash water. I called Richmond Discount Appliance Sales. They told me the motor needed to be replaced and wanted to charge me fortune for replacement. But, I asked the repairman why does the motor work perfectly fine for the washing phase but not for the draining of the water??? The motor is working. Why should it be replaced? After some of his double talk, I was happy to pay the service man $190 just to get that liar out of my house. I called Whirlpool and they said most likely it was the control board. I ordered the board, I installed it myself and the machine works fine. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, CALL THIS COMPANY TO DO ANY WORK ON YOUR APPLIANCES. YOU WILL BE SORRY. read more

They were rude with delivery issues and now my microwave that i purchased from them died after less than 30 days and they said "too bad, call the company" They didn't offer a return, an exchange, NOTHING! Okay I first use Richmond Appliance back in the 90's to set up all my appliances in my kitchen and washer: dryer, I dealt with Joe he was just a kid then. Was a great experience all the appliances were great name brand and lasted. Then I moved in 2003 and again needed a whole new kitchen again dealt with Joe was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and was able to find a side by side fridge to fit my small space. I then needed a new dryer since the one I got with the house didn't work. So I have dealt with the store many times with all different type of appliances.. I highly recommend this place and the prices were very reasonable. Oh all the appliances were brand new with warranties. Highly recommended read more

I had problems with a washer purchased from Richmond Discount Appliance only two months after I purchased it. When I went and told them about the problem, all they did was tell me to call the company. I know it was beyond the timeframe where they could take the item back but had they been the middleman between me and the company I probably could have gotten a new unit. Bottom line, they don't go the extra yard to help their customers. I guess I expected better customer service from an independent retailer. The reason why I went to them in the first place was to support small independent businesses on Staten Island. It came back to bite me in the butt.
