We especially appreciated Julie, the receptionist, rounding up some sandwiches for us (They're transitioning to a new food vendor, and the grab-and-go case was nearly empty when we arrived.). We brought our sandwiches out to the gardens, where there are many seating areas with nice views. The historic mansion is beautifully decorated, a window into how this wealthy industrialist lived in the last century. Pam, the docent at the front desk, was full of interesting stories about the family and the house. We were surprised to learn from her that the curtains at the front of the house were the originals from the 1920s. With high ceilings and huge windows, every room has a beautiful view, even the servants' areas. I found the kitchen especially interesting. If you plan to visit Kingwood with small children, I recommend saving the mansion for another day. The beautiful staircase (faux painted with a feather!) has a low railing and wide spaces between the balustrades. It would be easy for a child to slip through and fall to the terrazzo ground floor.

The flight of ciders was a treat and we enjoyed trying 4 different ones and comparing which we liked best! (Lemon ginger was a BIG hit!) The staff were all friendly and helped narrow down our choices. There's a separate part of the property where they hold weddings and events, which would be beautiful! Looked like they also have food trucks and music in the tap house regularly too. Looking forward to visiting again when I am back in town, gotta try the new seasonal flavor!

Dylan had wanted to show me how beautiful this place has become and also wanted me to meet Matt. Im certainly glad I did! Matt spent some time with us and let us explore the property. Matt is great! Retreat21 is lucky to have him as we found the landscaping to be wonderful. From the patios, to the right amount of gravel on the road, to their gorgeous, landscaped pond and event center and OH! can we mention how they incorporated a 100+ old oak to serve as an altar in their woodland sanctuary. Perfection!!! There is a large guest cabin that can be rented, plus seven other ones and a handful of geodomes. Each cabin has a private hot tub and fire pit. The geodomes just have a fire pit. At the front of the property is a large barn that has been converted to a tasting room. They have several house made craft wines and ciders. You can take those out to enjoy on one of three nice sized patios... one has hanging swings! They serve charcuterie, boards, and flatbreads... I'm on the weekends. They have food trucks. They also have yoga on the weekends that you can do in their vineyard -pretty cool along with other events This is a great addition to the Columbus area and Marysville. I think it's gonna be very successful. Definitely worth the trip to visit.

The historic mansion has a few larger rooms that can be utilized. It will not house a large event, but smaller parties fit nicely. There is an added on event space to the one side and they will add tents. The back patio was a beautiful backdrop for a cocktail hour. There was a nice stone patio with walkway in the woods perfect for outdoor ceremonies. The food was excellent and presented beautifully. On the downside, parking is a hike and a hilly one at that. For accessibility, you can pull right up in the circular drive fro drop off if needed.

My husband and I recently had our wedding at the Loft at Pickwick Place…read more Everything from the beginning to the end ran extremely smoothly. The days leading up the wedding day along with the actual wedding day were filled with zero stress- and a huge part of that had to do with how helpful our venue was. Kathy and Rose worked with us, and communicated with us over the course of planning. Pickwick Place makes it incredibly easy to receive a tour, rent items, pre-set up, tear down, plan layouts, etc. This place is also great because of the layout. It is two stories and includes an elevator. They work so well with you to make sure the building is exactly how you want it to be, allowing you to either choose to decorate yourself or have them decorate. We used the bottom level for our ceremony and the top level for our reception. One thing we were concerned about was keeping our guests occupied in between the ceremony and reception during pictures- however, because Pickwick also has a market and an antique shop next door, our guests had plenty of fun things to explore (and plenty of parking!) The landscape was perfect for beautiful pictures- including fields and a lake, along with the beautiful brick outside that made it extremely easy for our photographer to get large group photos. They also have a large kitchen that our caterer was able to work in smoothly, and even though we chose not to serve alcohol, they do allow that option and have a specific place for that as well. The thing that truly stuck out to us and made us choose Pickwick, was the attention to detail. When we first toured the place- my husband noticed that they had spent a great deal of time painting ugly silver pieces in the building to a beautiful rustic copper color in order to match the rustic look of the venue. This attention to detail was displayed during our entire time working with Pickwick and we could not have been more blessed. Pickwick is absolutely gorgeous, wonderful to work with, and a perfect layout for the perfect wedding! 5+ star review from us!
