So careful and considerate. Never overcharges and honest about the amount of work you need (or don't need). Highly recommend!

Unprofessional and Disappointing…read more I visited Dr. Conaghan's office in September 2021 to get one tooth replaced, ended up getting a bridge. Now I can't seem to get another appointment scheduled. 1. Flipper Fiasco: After wearing a flipper for six months, I finally went in to get the tooth screwed into my gums. Unfortunately, Dr. Conaghan tightened it too much, resulting in a broken bone. So the only other option was I lose two more teeth to get a bridge. Unbelievable! But it was what it was... I refuse to walk around with no tooth. Dr. Conaghan made me a new flipper that day. I had to wait another three months before getting the bridge put in. Once I got the bridge put in I was extremely happy with it. The color matched perfect. Other than losing two other teeth that I didn't intend to lose, I was pleased. 2. Communication Breakdown: Despite calling numerous times in the past few years, I can't get through to make another appointment. The lack of responsiveness is infuriating. 3. Screening Calls: Dr. Conaghan's office screens calls, making it even harder to reach them. Instead of being professional or even an adult and say I can no longer take you as a patient, instead they won't answer your calls. The reason I'm saying that is, I've called from my phone numerous times and cannot get an answer but I call from a different phone and they answer immediately. 4. Not knowing why they won't take me as a patient again is beyond frustrating. Overall, my experience with Dr. Conaghan has been unprofessional and deeply disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this dentist to anyone.

(check this out; I did, comparing their cost to my dental insurance schedule of benefits) Before scheduling an appointment here, get a consult from two other oral surgeons. There are several in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Paducah, Kentucky. I did. I compared prices. OMS Carbondale is inflating their costs and they are not in the practice of helping the patient; they want as much money as they can get. Again, do your research. They are not the only option. I canceled my son's appointment once I found out the facts and cross-referenced their charges compared to the norm with other reputable oral surgeons. Their practice manager is nothing short of condescending and rude. Their insurance/treatment plan coordinator does not like being challenged with facts. You can do what you want, but don't pay their price without getting two other treatment estimates. Oh, by the way, any reputable dental practice will not bill for a consult, costing the patient $120, when they can code the visit as a limited exam and it cost the patient $40, plus they get their portion of the insurance allowed. ETHICS!!!!

I asked for this but according to the office secretory, Dr. Burton would not allow it. I expected a brief conversation with him about my expectations for outcome including what depth of treatment I am willing to undergo. After a preliminary discussion such as this, I may have decided to give more thought to the process before deciding to go forward, or I may have decided to keep my oral condition as is (which would not require CT imaging). Plus, I could get an idea of his "bed side manner" so to speak. I now know.

When she started experiencing pain, her oncologist at SIH recommended this office. When I called, they weren't interested. They said they could hardly remember SIH. They clearly saw an emergency referral coming and wanted no part of it. They finally admitted they sometimes accepted SIH referrals but only from dentists (SIH is a healthcare chain that owns hospitals - they have zero dentists so...). When we told the office manager my wife had called dentists and they all referred us to an oral surgeon, they basically said, "well, we can't even see you until January or later maybe..." Finally, when I asked what to do as the hospital thought this was an emergency, they said, "Well, I'm not making an appointment for you HERE!" - and they transferred the call to a blank line. I stayed on hold for 20-30 minutes before the line disconnected and I realized the joke was on me and my wife, and we were already functionally disconnected. I understand that emergency referrals are a real hassle for offices and I'm sympathetic. But this wasn't cosmetic surgery or a sore tooth and "no room at the inn" is a pretty dire solution when a life is perhaps at stake. And disconnecting me, especially in a way that left me on hold and hoping for 20-30 minutes was uncalled for. Caveat emptor!
