Four apartments in my building on 2 floors all share the same pipes in our kitchens. So when the base pipe clogs, it floods the lower apartments, and all of us are out of commission. I've had two experiences with Richard, and both times he exceeded my expectations with his thoroughness, professionalism, and care for my property. The first issue was a clogged sink. I initially had another plumber (not Richard) come out to assess it. That plumber quickly identified a leak I hadn't noticed but suggested a highly invasive solution: cutting through the exterior of my house to replace the pipe and locate the source of the leak. He gave a very low quote but didn't inspire much confidence, as I had to prompt him to even consider a less invasive option, like going through an interior wall. He left with no clear resolution. I decided to call Richard for a second opinion, even though he charges $250 for the first visit (which applies to the final work). It was absolutely worth it. Richard was far more thorough. He had me run water until he could pinpoint the general area of the leak, showing me exactly where it was coming from--something the first plumber never did. Richard initially mentioned the option of cutting through the exterior wall but took the initiative to explore less invasive solutions. He checked under the sink, found an access panel, and determined he could fix the problem from there without any wall damage. Yes, his quote was higher than the first plumber's, but it reflected the quality of his work and his attention to detail. I went with him, and he replaced the pipe without issue. It's been working perfectly ever since. The second issue was a sewer clog emergency, which happened on Veterans Day--a public holiday. Despite that, Richard arrived within two hours of my call, which was incredible. He snaked the line, unclogged it, and then ran a camera to show me and mark exactly where all five root intrusions were. He gave me a clear and reasonable quote for replacing the affected section of the pipe. Again, while his pricing may be on the higher side compared to lowball offers, it's in line with the area (Los Angeles) and reflects the care he takes to avoid shortcuts that could harm your home's value in the long run. With Richard, you pay a bit more, but you get thorough, high-quality work from someone who genuinely cares about protecting your property.
