We stopped in tonight, not usually one of our first picks for dinner. The man at the counter was extremely polite and helped my kids pick what they wanted for dinner. Once we sat down, a female employee (I believe she is the manager) brought out crayons, markers and pages from a coloring book for my kids. A few minutes later, she brought out chef hats for my kids to decorate. The food came out quick and was delicious. This restaurant is more-or-less on my way to Cincinnati, Hamilton, or Middletown, and I wanted to try a new pizza place, so I stopped. I've seen the Richard's Pizza restaurants in Hamilton, but for some reason never stopped, and this one seemed more accessible. I wasn't certain what to expect since they were in a strip mall. I didn't even know that there was a dining room until I entered the building. Going inside, you're practically at the front counter, which doesn't give a line of customers much space. That seemed rather inconvenient for winter or even when it's raining. I needed a few minutes to learn their choices. They had 4 sizes of pizza, including an 8 inch like LaRosa's. It's a bit smaller than the other options in the area which tend to be 9 or 10 inches. Surface area counts but $7.50 isn't a terrible price for a Deluxe. Unlike LaRosa's, it has 5 ingredients, not 4. I asked for a Diet Mountain Dew (I'm avoiding sugar for a while) and that was $1.69 for a 20 ounce bottle. That seems rather high compared to fountain soda. (They have a sign to not take food or drink that isn't theirs into the restaurant, so I couldn't get something cheaper down the street at Speedway.) The good new is at $9.79, it was still under $10.00 and it tasted great. The pizza looked like a LaRosa's creation, so I'm wondering if that's where the founders got their start. It was thicker than expected and of course, because the cheese is on top, the ingredients attempt to leave the pizza ahead of their time. I have been going to Richards and getting their steak hoagie since I was a kid. I get it loaded with pickle, onions and sauce. If you don't like a lot of onions you better let them know because they pile them on. The reason for only a 3 star rating is because their pizza and other food items are very average. Wow! I have to say that Trenton doesn't have many options of dine out except for pizza. Today I decided to finally go in and try Richards pizza and from now on if we decide to eat pizza it will be this pizza joint! I could go on and on but I will just say the pizza was amazing, the price was great, and the restaurant was impeccably clean. I'm talking the floors and tables shined. They have a glass enclosed cooking area where from the dining room you can watch them prepare your meal which again not one smudge on the glass. My grandson loved watching them. I absolutely love Richard's steak sandwiches, but I prefer the Hamilton locations. I have eaten at the Trenton location a few times while visiting my parents. I was in town and wanted to bring a couple sandwiches home with me. I knew I should go to Hamilton, but was running short on time. The sandwiches taste so much better there. But I knew that going in. The biggest problem I had was the onions. The onions make the sandwich. Unfortunately the onions were pretty skimpy compared to what I am used to. I expect a ton of onions. A Richard's short on onions is better than no Richards at all, but I will stick to the other locations when I'm in town. read more

I live in Dayton Ohio but was born in Hamilton and grew up on these steak sandwiches. Nobody has a steak sandwich as good as Richards. I have tried many, some OK and some dreadful, this is why I drive 25 Miles! Richards is so much better than the so-called greatest Dayton pizza Marion's its a joke. After 8 years up here, and several Marion's experiences I still don't understand why people up here rave so much. The buttery toasted bun, the original sauce that's not pizza sauce is unique and is hard to describe, and the loads of sweet whole cut, not diced onions. The meat is high quality and not fake tasting like a lot of places have. I come here once a month to get the Steak Hoagie with cheese, original sauce, mushrooms and onions. It costs I believe $7.29. It's worth the price, it's close to 8 inches I believe. You could half this with some one and get their pizza too if you want. If you order a pizza, do demand them to make it WELL DONE! every once in a while I'd get one that was a little under done for my tastes. It's a pretty good pizza honestly, as good as any I have had around the area. The spaghetti dinners are also above average with very tasty garlic bread. The homemade fudge is also extremely good quality. Many flavors and each one very tasty. Inside this Trenton location is very warm and friendly, if dated a little. There is nothing at the Trenton location to indicate how to get in touch for curbside pickup so I went in, no big deal but don't offer it then. How can this place average 3 stars? That's ridiculous. Steak hoagies, 2nd to none, delicious. Now let's move on to the pizza 5 stars, if you don't like it that's your problem because it's about as good as it gets. Fresh dough, great sauce and lots of cheese. If your old enough to have had Godfathers pizza before it's very similar and that's a huge compliment. So good. Two Strikes and You're Out! First order was a month ago. Completely wrong. Ordered one Chicken sandwich and received two steak sandwiches. Loaded with tons of onions and peppers. WAY too many for any one sandwich. Called and received a credit certificate in the mail. It expired in 30 days (grrrrrr). Called tonight. 15 minutes to pick up. The chicken sandwich was correct (hence the one star). After the sandwich order, I said "And an order of fries". Also, ordered a medium (overpriced) pizza. Extra sauce and pepperoni. When I picked it up (I was on time but waited additional 15 minutes) there were no fries. Counter person said it would be another 10 minutes. I said no thanks and left. Much to my surprise, when I got home I found the fries. THEY WERE ON THE PIZZA. Pepperoni, French fries, cheese, no extra sauce. You can't pull them off without destroying the pizza. Have you ever had French Fries on your pizza. It tastes exactly like you think it would. I was starving so I stopped here because I'm drawn to small privately owned places instead of big chains. I guess I should have had the pizza. I was under the impression you could get a italian submarine sandwich or what they call a grinder in New England, but there were no good options for that.
