My son has been attending Sandoval a few years now. Sandoval is a little strange. The classes are grouped so for example 1,2 and 3rd graders are all lumped together for 3 years. I did question this method, but the bright side is that it creates some stability in class mates and teachers. It's half Spanish speaking which I feel is a mixed blessing as well. My son is learning two languages but I am afraid he may end up a "jack of all trades master of none" but the verdict is still out. The school is kind of hard to get into, so I think the parents and kids seem to take learning a little more seriously at this school.

This is demonstrated by the numerous awards Dennison receives, the community of teachers, students, parents and alumni and the strong connection between Dennison and D'Evelyn High School. Dennison is a large lottery only Jeffco elementary school. It has a very diverse and inclusive population of students and families who attend and to me, this is one reason I think the school is exceptional. Dedicated teachers lead rigorous whole group classes to fully prepare students for junior high, high school, college and beyond. All children are held to the same educational and behavioral expectations. The students learn respect for others, accountability for learning and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. The staff is hard-working, very dedicated and cares deeply about protecting the learning environment for students. If you are considering Dennison, take a tour. You'll notice the students are respectful, quite when walking through the halls and if you look into each classroom you will find children engaged and learning. The children utilize text books and can be observed reading, writing and taking many tests. Dennison is continually the highest ranked elementary school in Jeffco because the educational and behavioral model works. Wish more schools would follow Dennison's model to give more students this type of unique learning environment.
