I found Dr. Sutedja through 1-800-Dentist several years ago. I found him to be very professional and thorough and I was quite happy with his care. He takes the time to explain everything he's doing, and he offers options when they are available. He's very considerate about how much dental insurance I have left for the calendar year. Then I met my future husband who hadn't been to a dentist in years. Due to a childhood surgery, his jaw doesn't open as wide as most people's so he put off seeing a dentist. He immediately liked Dr. Sutedja and has been going every six months like clockwork! Dr. Sutedja recommended some replacement of old fillings for my husband and then worked with us on a payment plan. My husband had a dental emergency on a Saturday night and Dr. Sutedja offered to come in that evening and did come in to attend to him on Sunday. My husband was initially concerned that the problem might put his health at risk and the Dr. reassured him that it could wait a little while. Since that time we have sent a close friend to Dr. Sutedja who is very particular about her health care providers. She is a fan of the Dr.'s now, too! The entire office is very warm, friendly, and professional. They make us feel right at home. We're all very glad to have someone who cares about us as much as Dr. Sutedja does! read more

Dr. Sutedja is awesome. He's kind and super considerate about the whole "please don't hurt me you evil Dentist" thing. I recommend him to everyone I know, especially those scared of someone poking around in their mouth. When he's doing stuff he always asks how you're doing, if you need anything, etc. My first visit to him was my first dental visit in 10 years and he didn't even lay a guilt trip on me. My family had been going to Dr. Sutedja for a long time many years ago. For personal reasons we had left. A number of years later we found ourselves looking for a dentist again. We returned to Dr. Sutedja due to his professionalism, his kindness, and his great dental work. He shows concern for his patients and makes sure they are comfortable and not in any pain. He explains all procedures and there is no unnecessary work done. The staff is exceptional and courteous; not to mention the office is very clean. Dr. Sutedja has been a blessing to my family. Dr. Sutedja specializes in pain-free, fear-free, guilt-free dentistry. He's amazing at soothing full-on phobias or just plain squeamishness. Hate the sound of a drill? He'll hand you a CD player or just bring your own iPod. That's 6 fillings, 1 cracked wisdom tooth, 1 crown, and 4 sessions of dental planing later... and I still love this guy. The first time I went to him, I hadn't been to a dentist in 15 years (and it showed). He doesn't lecture you about it like most dentists though. I have a moderate needle phobia, but I don't feel a thing. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Easy parking. There are plenty of dentists in Sunnyvale, but I'm happy to make the minor trek to Fremont just because he's THAT awesome. He's my recommendation for the best Bay Area dentist, by far. read more

Dr. Sutedja is the first dentist I am actually excited to visit. Pros: - Online scheduling and appointment confirmations. It's so easy! - Compassionate, friendly staff who I enjoy talking to. - Dr. Sutedja is a perfectionist. Only x-rays can tell you how much work I've had done. - Updated technology. They have an awesome anesthesia machine that is supremely effective and less painful than the normal injections. - He takes emergencies seriously, even if it means it's Memorial Day, and there's no dental assistant around to help him, and I have to hold the suction device myself. Man, I was so happy to have him that day! Cons: - The only gripe I've had since I was a kid - he doesn't like to use laughing gas. This is totally fair, and he is definitely not alone on this one. Luckily, his cool numbing machine makes this unnecessary, anyway. I have been a patient of Dr. Sutedja since I was 7 years old, almost 20 years now. I tried other dentists and went to a pediatric dentist for a long time because I was particularly traumatized when I felt the drill hit a not-so-numb tooth for the first time. Eventually, I grew up and got over my fear and need for laughing gas and TVs on the ceiling, and I came back to Dr. Sutedja knowing he was going to offer the highest quality care. I no longer live in the Bay Area, and I travel about an hour, one way, for each of my appointments, but it is definitely worth it. Even paying out of network insurance costs is worth it. I've had many crowns and fillings done by Dr. Sutedja, so I would say I'm fairly familiar with the routine there. Each visit is more pleasant and enjoyable than the last, and never as terrifying as my dentophobic mind imagines it will be. He knows I am incredibly sensitive to tooth pain, and he always goes out of his way to make sure I am fully numbed and comfortable. He has been there for work ranging from standard fillings to broken teeth to emergency crowns on Memorial Day. He is as reliable as it gets. I sure am happy to have him for my dentist. read more

Dr. Sutedja is an awesome dentist. He is patient with us folks who have huge dental phobias and doesn't lecture at all. He has a special machine that give you shots easier and his office is always very clean. I had a ton of pain in a tooth he worked on once and didn't get off work until 8pm, he offered to come back into the office to take a look at it for me after I got off. Dr.Sutedja is a wonderful dentist. He pays attention to detail and his bedside manner is impeccable. He makes the patient's visit as comfortable as possible and he truly will take the time to make it painless. He takes time to explain procedures and answer patients questions. As an RN, I appreciate the welcoming waiting room and the cleanliness of the office and exam rooms. The staff is friendly and informative and always have a quick smile to greet their patients. I do my google research and I like lots of information. Dr. Sutedja doesn't get upset when I tell him about my internet findings and he gladly answers all of my detailed questions, he shows me the xrays and explains why he feels x needs to be done. I expect information and education and he is great at that. He is very mindful of insurance costs and has, on multiple occasions, undercharged me. He even suggested a drug store bite guard for my teeth grinding rather than insisting I get a professionally made bite guard. He is careful to not over nor under treat problem teeth. He is meticulous, precise and very gentle--all incredibly important traits. My teeth have a propensity for developing cavities underneath existing fillings and he is very careful to remove all bacteria before filling them in again. (I just moved to him--none of his fillings have been the culprits although I think the problem is more my teeth rather than the quality of my old fillings). He is friendly but doesn't try to converse with his hands in your mouth. He has pictures of a waterfall on the wall in front of the chair and a little zen fountain in the waiting area. He doesn't nag or reprimand me if my gums bleed b/c I've neglected to floss regularly enough. He uses digital x-rays (less radiation) and they have rounded edges so they are quite comfortable. He also is very good with Novocain--I never even felt the "pinch" or pressure that I'm used to feeling when getting my gums numbed. I highly recommend him. read more

My journey this year with Dr Sutedja began over the MLK weekend when my tooth seemed to explode in my mouth. It was a molar on the upper front right side of my mouth and all I could do is cry from the pain. Although Dr. Sutedja was open on MLK's birthday, I didn't call because I thought he would be closed. I went first thing Tuesday and he put me on antibiotics, told me what medicine I needed to calm the pain, and gave me a shot to get me through until I was able to get much needed medicine in me. I cannot say enough about Dr. Sutedja. This is the most wonderful dentist I have ever been to and I've been going for years. He has a gentle hand and is a perfectionist. I smile with a lot of pride because my teeth are beautiful. Most importantly, I love the fact that I don't see the shot before he gives it to me. He kinda hides it behind his back and then after a small pinch, your numb. It's like magic. His office staff are also really friendly and cool to talk to. You feel like you're around family!!! I am on my way to LOVING going to the dentist!!!!! read more

Dr. Sutedja is a fantastic dentist. He cares about his patients and is there for you when needed. What was amazing is he gave me a shot to numb the infected area before he drained it and I didn't feel the shot! I have had shots before to numb the area before treatment from different dentist's and sometimes I think the pain is worse than the treatment! Dr. Sutedja used a special instrument he has that makes it much less invasive and pain free!! Dr. Sutedja treated me on a Sunday morning at 9am in his office and I was able to go on my vacation in Kauai pain free. I started getting tooth/gum pain the week before I left for my family vacation in Kauai Monday morning. I hoped it would go away and it became much worse on Friday night. Saturday I was able to get ahold of Dr.Sutedja and he wanted to see me that night. He was worried about infection (rightly so). I was busy Saturday evening and assured him I would make it through the evening until Sunday morning. He told me to call if it got worse and agreed to meet me at 9 am Sunday morning in his office. The back gum area was infected (the pain had spread to below the jaw) and Dr. Sutedja informed me of what could have happened if I hadn't met him and had it taken care of (not how I wanted to spend my vacation - probably in the ER). Fortunately, I didn't have to have a root canal and Dr. Sutedja was able to efficiently take care of me and send me smiling on my way. The office and patient rooms are extremely clean and extend the caring feeling of a family practise.
