I went to see Dr. Hess to get some help with the removal of some lypomas (small lumps under the skin). He did a tremendous job. The scars have healed beautifully, and it will soon be hard to tell that anything was ever done there. He did so well that I asked him to help repair some terrible scars from previous surgeries done by a dermatologist, and just as with the lypomas, he did a great job. Dr. Hess came highly recommended. I needed to have a skin cancer scar on my face corrected. When I arrived, I was very nervous and usually when a patient is nervous the doctor will say something to put you at ease - but Dr. Hess did not. He seemed to be in a hurry - he had a student shadowing him that day so he seemed a bit rushed and I did not feel like a priority. When it came to the injections (injections into my forehead and near my eyes) there was no numbing cream placed before hand, so each time he inserted the needle into my face, I visibly jumped - it was so painful. I wanted to ask him to give me a moment between injections - but he was moving so fast that I did not feel comfortable. He did all the injections without even pausing to ask if i was ok - even though tears were running out of my eyes. During surgery he chatted with his assistant and told her he liked being a surgeon -because he did not have to talk to his patients. It was all very awkward and I was so disappointed in his bedside manner. I felt like I was more of an inconvenience then a patient. I am still in the process of healing - so perhaps if my scar heals perfectly I will come back and give him a better rating here, but I doubt it... read more
