You know, everyone is different, and reading everyone's comments shows that. If you have a bad attitude and difficult teeth (the teeth at no fault of your own) of course the Dr. will have a harder time making you comfortable. I got all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed and I was pleased with his work. The extraction only took an hour. Of course I was in pain, he had to drill into my BONE, but he made me feel like everything was alright and that I was alright. If I had been worried, he was willing to squeeze me in to check up on my stitches and take my calls. Otherwise, Dr. Schell gave me clear guidelines of what to expect the coming week after the surgery and prepared me for any ache and fear. On top of that, he patched me up so well, my stitches never bothered me. Let's talk about pain now. This is not getting your teeth cleaned. I read everyones comments and everyone agrees, it hurts, a lot. Everyone is different, everyone will have different experiences. I have already had a couple of surgeries which left me at bed rest for weeks due to pain, I know pain, this is like a tickle compared to the other surgeries I have done. That aside, everyone is different, I have a very high pain tolerance so others of you may be uncomfortable. I would say to be safe, just block out your next week and snuggle up with some yogurt or soup and allow your body to heal. I tried to jump back into my normal routine to early and caused myself more pain than I would have been otherwise. Dr. Schell understands this isn't a walk in the park. Just sit with him and ask him everything before the surgery, because when you wake up, the world will be going at 10 FPS (veeeeeeery slowly). TO SUMMARIZE: If you'd like a doctor who knows what he's doing and cares about how you feel, Dr. Schell would be my choice. Dr. Schell couldn't have been any nicer or accommodating. Dr Schell is Amazing! My 10 yr old had to have 4 broken molars extracted. Our regular dentist suggested an oral surgeon because he thought maybe she should be put under a general anesthesia so that she wasn't afraid. When we came in for the consult, he was SO nice. His whole staff is so kind and gentle and amazing with me and my daughter. He took the time to explain to BOTH of us ( he didn't talk about her like she wasn't there) our options. He suggested we NOT do a general, but a local instead, expressing his conservative approach to using a general with children if not necessary. We took his advice and came back the next day prepared for a local anesthetic. She wasn't happy about it at first because she wanted to be "asleep and not know what was happening." Dr Schell still had enough staff there and was prepared to do a general if needed. My husband and I waited in the waiting room. The whole process for 4 teeth was less than 1/2 hour. His admin came in at least 4 times to let us know how she was doing. She came in at the beginning when they were about to give her the numbing shot and let us know that this was going to hurt her and we will hear her reacting to it...which we did...yikes!...but after that my girl was fine. Dr Schell walked her out when she was done and gave us a pamphlet of what to expect for after care. And he called us this afternoon to check up on us. I would recommend him to anyone! He was so great with my little girl and put us at ease...as much at ease as one could be when getting oral surgery. haha. Great people and office. 10 stars! I needed bone grafts and implants for my two (2) front teeth. I chipped them when I was 7 and have spent thousands over the years at a dentist in Beverly Hills re-doing my crowns and dealing with my compromised tooth structure. At 55, I was referred to Dr. Schell from a friend who he did implants for. Dr.Schell did an excellent job thoroughly explaining the long process I needed to go through in order to produce the very best results - both structurally and aesthetically. I wish I could give Dr. Schell more than 5 stars. My bottom right wisdom tooth was causing me a great a great amount of pain so I called on Tuesday and they gave me a consultation that same day (I had eaten breakfast so I couldn't have the surgery that day) and when I went in his staff was so sweet and when I told Dr. Schell how much pain I was in he did everything he could to relieve the pain as much as possible until the next day. Which was a major relief. The next day when I went into the surgery he was so sweet and calming. I work in a dental office so I kind of knew what to expect but I still have a fear of the dentist but I'm more so scared of surgery and being put under, so the fact that I went in and they put me under so fast and had me out what seemed like 15 minutes was amazing to me. They made the whole experience so easy. It still kind of suck having to have my wisdom teeth pulled out but I'm so glad that I went to Dr. Schell. I highly recommend him! read more

I had to get an infected molar out and Dr. Schell's office promptly made space in his schedule to take care of me. They clearly discussed all the things I needed to do before coming in for the appointment. He evaluated the tooth and discussed the procedure, postoperative care and expectations for recovery. They made arrangements for my medications for after the procedure. He did an excellent job and I did not feel or remember the procedure at all. Since the tooth has been hurting me, I thought the recovery would be tough, but it was much easier than I thought it would be. The doctor called me himself that evening and checked up on me. He went over the information with me on the handout that I received at the appointment. Dr. Schell is Amazing! When I found out I needed to have another tooth extracted I knew who to call. A person who cant handle pain and gets so nervous having any type of dental work done. I was not afraid to call Dr. Schell's office. Victoria got me in right away, worked around the time I needed because I care for my mom. They all explain things so clearly and goes over everything with you. Dr. Schell and staff have always made sure I was comfortable from the time I walked in the door till you leave. The follow-up calls afterwards to make sure you don't have any other questions, concerns and over all how your doing. They make sure you are not in any pain. The whole office is caring, friendly and they work together as a team. They never rushed through my visit. I don't have insurance they even work with you on that. Honest and up front on the cost. I was referred to MD Schell from my PCP dentist. Had an appt July 5,2016 for the removal of two impacted wisdom teeth. Firstly, he is thorough with his examinations and has an excellent bedside manner. Aside from doing a great job with my surgery he has been very thorough with his follow up care. He called me multiple times to see how I was doing (not all doctors do this ). His ancillary staff had excellent customer service! Victoria, was very knowledgable with the procedures and provided me with pre-op eduction way ahead of the time. I wanted to have my surgery and consult the same day given I have a baby at home and its difficult to get out to make each appointment, and they were both willing to work with me to make the surgery happen. Dr. Schell is the BEST! He has the best 'chair-side' manner ever. I have to admit, i'm a bit afraid of going to Dentists. He made me feel so at ease, i couldn't believe it. He did my first molar extraction. The procedure was over before i knew it and for the first time ever, i didn't cry at the dentists. On top of that, Dr. Schell, called personally a couple of times to check up on me (Who does that anymore?) WOW. Too, his staff is so welcoming and helpful. I had an issue getting an 'okay' to go off my blood thinners for a week. It was a back and forth with my GP for a few days. The good part of this, was that his staff, kept me abreast of what was going on, following up with me, instead of me having to constantly contact them. I first saw Dr Schell years ago to treat a dental infection that progressed very rapidly. It was quiet scary. Dr. Schell fit me in into his schedule right away as an emergency and was very kind as were all the office workers. The extraction was easy with anesthesia and he called me that evening to check up on me. He had me in every day for several days to make sure the infection was resolving and I was comfortable. The office is clean, neat and professional. I have sent many of my friends from work as well as my family to his office and everyone has always been pleased with his care and staff. We are grateful for his consistent superb care in his treatment of myself and family. Dr. Schell is one of the best and nicest doctors I have ever been to!! I had to have a minor procedure done. He took a lot of time explaining what is was and what needed to be done. When I went back to have the procedure done, he and his staff could not have been any more caring and friendly during the entire process. Dr. Schell attentive and caring to my mother in her nineties when she had one tooth extracted. He took his time and explained the procedure patiently with her and put her at ease. The whole procedure just took minutes with just a local to numb her. Very happy did not go over board and put her out due to her heart. My entire experience with Dr Schell and his staff is an A++. They are caring and friendly and he is Highly skilled. I went to him for wisdom teeth extraction. I had all 4 of them done at the same time. I am now going to him for a crown lengthening procedure. He doesn't normally do the crown lengthening but will do it. I am so grateful as I do not like having any dental work done and am a very nervous patient. But since I had such a great experience with him on my wisdom teeth I don't want anyone else to do it. Dr. Schell is still the man after all of these years! He took out all four of my wisdom teeth back in 2003 with no pain at all. He's like a silent ninja!
