I called the business to find out if they would service the area I live and get a rough estimate on cost based on describing the job. Instead, while the phone the was still ringing I received a text from them that simply read: "Please text me." I asked why, explaining that it would be more efficient to discuss over the phone. I didn't even get a reply to the text. I understand. This might be a one-man business and if that's the case, they could have very well been on a job. I also understand that many people are entirely comfortable going back and forth on text. Frankly, I don't mind going back and forth over text after I've already engaged with the business. At the point I received the text, it could be considered rude since their phone was still ringing. It would almost be better to let the call go to voicemail and return the call when they have time to talk. Maybe with an outgoing message that lets the caller know they're likely busy on another job. Richard Craig Electric has great reviews. Their poor judgement in texting back a person that's calling; while they're calling does not reflect their ability to perform electrical services. Richard was very prompt in answering our phone call. In fact, out of six calls my mom made to electricians, Richard was the only one who answered (and not an answering machine, in which it's two days later and none of them have called back yet). He came the next day and troubleshooted our electrical outlets in the house. My mom wanted to have some work done to the electrical outlets but he said that, although he could do it, it was not needed and even showed my mom the tests from all the outlets to give her a peace of mind. The electrical work that Richard Craig and his two-man crew, Clayton and William, have done in our home has been first rate. In the fall of 2017 Ric installed integrated LED light fixtures to replace all of our weathered exterior home lights. The work that Ric and his crew did was carefully and quickly performed. In 2018 we asked Ric to perform a more unusual job, installation of a motorized chandelier "light lift" to enable us to lower our entry-way chandelier for cleaning and servicing while we are standing on the floor. Our entry-way foyer has a 14-foot ceiling, and we can now avoid having to climb a very tall ladder to clean and service the chandelier several times a year. Ric's work in installing the light lift and connecting it to our crystal chandelier was performed in a thoughtful and professional manner. Our experience is that it is unusual to find a contractor who combines experience and common sense with an ability to troubleshoot unforeseen problems, all the while remaining professional, courteous, and competitively priced.
