The cemetery sits on 27 acres and at this writing is still being recovered from overgrown…read morevegetation. There are some dedicated volunteers who have spent years removing the overgrowth and trash that was dumped here. There is still a sizable section of the graveyard that is thoroughly hidden by trees and overgrowth. The cemetery was begun in 1893. This is primarily an African graveyard and there are former slaves buried here. Unfortunately there are many graves that do not have markers. It is believed there are about 700 to 1000 people buried in this acreage. One thing this property also has an abundance of are African white Irises and one of the last surviving areas of the Post oak trees. The sign that designates this graveyard is currently being replaced and there is yet no Texas historical marker either. This is still an active graveyard and there have been recent burials. I found out that about 10% of the graves here are of infants. There are also numerous veterans graves.

This is a small family cemetery located about 200 yards south from busy US 79. It is a very small…read morefamily plot about 40 x 60' square with two large oak trees in the middle. In the middle of this cemetery is a Texas state historical marker made of pink granite. It is dedicated to Major Robert McNutt who was the commander of the Texas forces at the battle of San Jacinto. Almost all of the 20 or so graves are from the late 1800s. There has been some effort to repair some of the broken headstones, but a little more work needs to be done. Like most cemeteries of this period, there were some infant graves. I also found three markers of unknown graves. This cemetery is slowly being surrounded on all sides by new construction. It would not surprise me if at some point in the future it is relocated. Definitely some local history to be found here.

Directly on the side of the road you'll see a plaque for this cemetery which dates from the 1840s…read more It is a small cemetery of some family plots and randomly placed markers. Some of the headstones have been repaired and some still lie on the ground. As the plaque says, these graves belong to many of the early pioneers, of whom many died young. Many of these headstones belong to people in their 20s. The cemetery is probably just slightly larger than an acre and there are unmarked graves located here. The unmarked graves are marked with simple white crosses. If you're interested in local history, this is a point of interest.

This cemetery is located at the rear of what appears to be a country resort. It sits at the back of…read morethe property in a 50' x 100' wide space. It is a small family cemetery, but it does have one or two names associated with other cemeteries in this area. One name I found was Lawhon, which is the name of another cemetery not far from here (see separate review). The headstones appear to have been cleaned and apparently it is filled with wild flowers in the spring time.

At the entrance closest to H-E-B you'll find a very detailed layout of the cemetery which will provide you with lots of information. The entire cemetery seems to have a randomly laid out pattern of headstones and markers with some family plots, but mostly just individual markers. Many headstones found here are cast in concrete instead of granite. As the sign at the entrance points out, there are many unmarked graves as well which are primarily former slaves and other African-Americans. Most of the graves have long since been forgotten about, but there are still quite a number of newer graves that are well tended by family members. The grounds are mowed, but there are quite a number of headstones in a state of disrepair. There is no Texas historical sign on the property but for more information check out the photo of the map below.

This is unquestionably one of the most well-maintained, organized and manicured cemeteries you will…read morefind anywhere in the state. It is directly behind the Palm Valley Lutheran Church which is a historical building. All the graves are very well laid out and ordered primarily into family burial plots. There are acres of old headstones , recent ones and some waiting to be interred in their future plot. There is a single paved lane that runs through the center of the cemetery dividing the old and the new graves. I'm sure many of these headstones belong to the Who's Who of Round Rock and local history. This is still an active cemetery and I found several recent graves from 2022. There is also more room for additional plots on the back side should you decide this is the place to be your forever home. The church had a historical marker, but I did not see one for the cemetery. The pictures in this review don't fully capture just how beautiful this place is.

This cemetery was obviously established back in the late 1800s because today it sits on some very…read morevaluable real estate. In other words, when this graveyard was established, I 35 was probably a two lane dirt road with horse and buggies going back and forth. Today it literally sits on the northbound feeder road of I 35 and the corner of Dean Keeton with thousands of cars rushing by. It has two points of entry along the feeder road with a gravel road running through the middle of the cemetery linking both of them. It is at least 3 to 5 acres in size and there are hundreds of headstones. Much of the cemetery is organized into family plots with their surrounding borders. The cemetery could use some work, as the grass was unmowed, the trees looked really scraggly, the entrance gate was broken off and there were a number of toppled headstones. There are quite a number of graves from the late 1800s, but the majority are from the early 20th century. I spotted quite a number of woodmen of the world headstones, which are quite common in this area. There may be some notable names interred here, but I did not spot any. There are a handful of graves that have been visited in the last few months, but it's quite clear that many have long since been forgotten. I did spot a few graves from the early 2000s up to 2019, but nothing from the last year or two. Plenty of photos included to peak your interest.

You will find a Texas historical sign denoting one particular individual buried here. There are many older headstones here along with some recent ones, making this an active graveyard. In keeping with many older cemeteries like this, you'll find lots of headstones belonging to children and young adults. The 2 to 3 acre property is ringed with a fence and is at this time receiving some new construction to enhance the property. The property is very well cared for with virtually no toppled headstones, however, I could not find a listing of who is buried where, nor any information regarding burial information.
