This is a small family cemetery located about 200 yards south from busy US 79. It is a very small family plot about 40 x 60' square with two large oak trees in the middle. In the middle of this cemetery is a Texas state historical marker made of pink granite. It is dedicated to Major Robert McNutt who was the commander of the Texas forces at the battle of San Jacinto. Almost all of the 20 or so graves are from the late 1800s. There has been some effort to repair some of the broken headstones, but a little more work needs to be done. Like most cemeteries of this period, there were some infant graves. I also found three markers of unknown graves. This cemetery is slowly being surrounded on all sides by new construction. It would not surprise me if at some point in the future it is relocated. Definitely some local history to be found here. read more
