I was on a long trip from Louisville,KY. to Miami area and had a coolant sensor issue. I searched and found Rice GMC. From the time i entered my service advisor Teresa was so helpful and nice. She went to check the part and a mechanic Josh came on board to do the service. It was right at lunch break and Josh graciously said he would cut lunch short and get to work on my vehicle.He said it about a three hour job and i said well it gotta get done and they both could see the anxiety on me as they knew traveling. So i walked down the street got lunch and returned an hour later. 45 minutes after i returned Teresa came and got me and said it was done. I asked how did it get done so fast,she said Josh grabbed another mechanic and they worked on it to get it done and get me back on the road. I can say enough good things about Teresa and Josh!! After being frustrated with service at the local Chevy dealer, I called my friend Marshall Myer at Rice Buick-GMC on Kingston Pike. He showed me their new truck inventory and then I found a newer model used Suburban and we made the deal immediately. I had dealt with Rice once before on a bad computer chip, on a car I bought from the Chevy dealer above. The car was still under warranty, but the Chevy dealer wanted $200 just to diagnose the problem. I took it to Rice Buick-GMC and they fixed the problem, gave me a loaner car, and verified that the problem was a warranty issue with no charge. I came back to Rice again, and thanks to Marshall Myer, I am driving a late model Suburban replacing my 2000 Suburban that I got over 265,000 miles of driving. Apathetic customer service. They do not update/correspond with you in anyway except text. They had my car for almost 2 weeks and couldn't tell me the part had arrived or even wash/vacuum my car upon returning to me. Maybe I just expect more after being to so many dealers over the years that went beyond to make you want to return for services. I will not be using them for anything again. read more

Service department is forcing me to end my 31-yr relationship with GM. I have only purchased GM vehicles since the first truck I purchased in 1993 but that will change because of the dishonesty pf the service department at Rice. Multiple issues over multiple visits and the most recent has them holding my vehicle hostage for an issue that should have been fixed long ago. When I do get my vehicle back I plan on trading it in for another manufactures vehicle so I never have to deal with my local GM/Rice service department again. read more

a 2.5 rating doesn't surprise me. this place will not honor warranties. I bought the 2021 truck and extended warranty at this dealer. a starter went out on me in another state in may of this year. it got fixed and a wire came loose recently. leaving me stranded again. this dealership wanted to charge me $170 plus taxes to plug it back in. said it isn't their fault and not covered under a bumper to bumper warranty. well I got a little hot and apologized, but this is really bad customer service. will never buy anything from here again and would not recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

Took my vehicle here for a tuneup and to have the cabin filter checked because my AC wasn't working well and I was getting ready to go on a cross-country road trip. However, afterwards, the AC still wasn't working so I took it to another garage and had them check the cabin filter, and when they pulled out the cabin filter, it was filthy. Also, I had specifically mentioned several times to Rice that I was going on a road trip and wanted the car checked for safety; and not but a couple days later, I received notification on my GMC app that my tires had low air pressure. When I called Rice to let them know what happened and find out what services they actually performed, I was told a manager would call me back; and of course, no one ever did. I've had one of the worst experiences buying a truck from this dealer. The salesman was pretty nice and fair but don't think I was taken serious when a young guy is looking to buy a Denali truck. We finally came to an agreement on the truck and so I was at my bank (ORNL) talking to a loan officer and was pre approved. It was so late in the day I had to come back the next morning to get my loan. It was so busy and a two hour wait so I found out that Rice partners with ORNL and was told by my loan officer they could do my loan there through ORNL. I got with my salesman and he said yep and came back with a paper to sign about my running my credit... I said no I am not signing that because I'm pre approved through the bank so he said "oh yeah okay I'll be right back" 30 minutes go by and THEY RAN MY CREDIT ANYWAYS THROUGH 11 DIFFERENT LENDERS!!!!!! I was furious and went back to ORNL got my loan and paid at the dealership. Talked to the finance guy trying to find out answers and he said "we don't really need your permission to run your credit we run it if we want" I was blown away because I'm was trying to reason with him on it hurting my credit and he didn't give a fuck! None of them did... ps: I walked out with my down payment and the fat finance guy didn't even realize. I shook my salesman's hand to leave and asked him if he was missing anything. Had to bring my camaro in twice because they dont know how to paint. They didn't sand the bumper at all and I didn't notice till I brought my car home and noticed the orange peel effect all over. When I got my car back the second time I swear they buffed a fraction of the bumper. Do not take your car here to get painted. Good friendly people though just their painter is careless. read more

If your looking for a car out of state and expect integrity and honesty when solidifying deal once agreement is made look elsewhere. Had deal Saturday ( approved by salesman and sales manager) contingent upon pre purchase inspection. Agreement with salesman we would move forward first thing Monday morning as he was closing. Bill Francis was decent sales guy to deal with but clearly sales manager pulls all the strings behind the scenes with no moral compass. Must of gotten an offer through email Sunday from another buyer. Bill informed me a half hour before the dealership opened Monday that they have another buyer that does not require pre purchase inspection and with no hold on the car. When asked to speak to sales manager he cowardly avoided me and quickly worked deal with other buyer to sell the car within an hour after they opened. Find your vehicle elsewhere. I have a 2014 GMC Acadia. We moved here three years ago and I started taking it to Rice GMC for servicing. I have never had to do anything more than oil changes until recently. My air conditioner started acting up where it would occasionally not work. I took it in to Rice GMC for servicing, and explained the problem. They called me and said it was the evaporator core and the blower motor. They charged me $983 to replace those two parts. A day later, I was experiencing the exact same problem. I made an appointment to take it in early one morning. At the end of the day I called to see if they found the problem. They told me they were busy and didn't get to it. I suggested that they should have called me if they weren't going to get to it so I wasn't without a car all day. The next day they called me and said it was the coolant sensor. They charged me $141 to fix that. When I suggested that the evaporator core and blower motor didn't need to be replaced, and that I paid $983 for nothing, they said that the evaporator was leaking, and that they were having problems with the AC motors on Acadia's. I said it looks like they were guessing what was wrong and charged me for a wrong diagnosis. They said they would take $100 off the sensor. From looking at the $141 bill, I still paid $94 in labor for a $38 sensor. I am not at all pleased with this experience. read more

As a lifelong GM driver and Rice Buick GMC customer (my entire family has purchased cars, trucks, and SUVs here for 30 plus years) - sadly- today is the last time I will ever do business with this company. I have had to replace the AC compressor twice in my 2014 Chevy Silverado which has under 75,000 miles. This has cost me north of $2,000. The second compressor was installed roughly two years ago and today I had to have it replaced for a second time. That's three... THREE... compressors on a vehicle that just turned six years old. Rice Buick GMC deflected the issue to the manufacturer whom they represent, General Motors, and ultimately refused to right the situation. Their "best solution" was to take $100 off my bill bringing it to $820. The fact that the compressor needed to be replaced a second time is outrageous, and the fact that I was only given $100 or so dollars off is insulting. Today, Rice Buick GMC lost not only one, but an entire lineage of loyal customers. read more

Then wanted to replace brand new parts I installed two days before. Drive belt and A/C belt with 150% up charge on those too. After working with Teresa and Rice GMC with many vehicles over potentially a decade - beyond disappointed in this most recent experience and their apathy. To schedule for the transmission person (at the advice of the service department since apparently they only have one) on March 29th to wait and come in on April 22nd then after not hearing anything in 7 hours to call and find out that they will out they will not get to it till potentially tomorrow or "another day" is horrible customer support. If they were back-logged that should have been referenced prior to me bringing my vehicle or during drop-off, not 7 hours later after drop-off after waiting 4 whole weeks to even get my vehicle in. The lack of care by Josh and the service department will make me to regretfully not bring any future services needs or my vehicles to this service department as it's apparent they did not care one bit about my time as a customer. Disheartening when a dealership you have trusted and recommended for years to have zero consideration and completely drops the ball on customer support. read more

I took my LaCrosse in for a stabilitrac issue five times. It brakes on right-hand curves when driving 30 to 40 mph in a 45 mph zone, braking to 15 to 20 mph. They say they cannot duplicate the problem yet on four of the five work orders the mileage when my vehicle is brought into the shop is the same as when it is returned to me. How can they duplicate a problem that happens when driving if they do not drive the car? Also they are very rude, making comments like you should not drive around curves on two wheels, don't drive on those roads, and what happens when we don't duplicate the problem again this time? read more

The salesman was great (Larry Gray). The buying process was easy. The financing was a nightmare. BEWARE! After being told that if I didn't buy an extended warranty on a used car while financing I would not be able to purchase one - even though my car had 6 months left on the previous warranty....a complete lie! One has 30 days to cancel a warranty. I cancelled my warranty 9 days after buying my car. It has taken many phone calls and 3 months to get my account credited. I would buy a car from here again but have it financed elsewhere! read more

Dealership was reasonable, but after 5 weeks of inability to obtain an AC condenser for a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali, we gave up and traded to a Toyota Sequoia. After this and a couple other recent problems with GM cars, seems best to avoid GM all together. GMC acted very indifferent to our problems with the vehicle and absolutely reluctant to acknowledge there is a problem with the AC condensors on this model year. They recently refused to acknowledge a problem with a leaking GPS antenna as well despite having recalls on other 2015 Yukons. Had enough, good bye GM. read more

Do not give this company your business!!!!! I went to go buy a car and they did 9 hard hits to my credit WITHOUT my permission. I gave them permission for ONE time. My credit score went down 25 points almost overnight. If they had informed me or told me ahead of time, it wouldn't have been an issue because I would have declined. When I called to address the matter, they told me it was "company policy". Sorry, company policy? To hard hit someones credit NINE times without informing your client. I honestly don't know if I will be back. This is my second time dealing with either parts or service and both time have taken so much time that I don't know if I will return. 1st time: a few weeks after purchasing my vehicle I stopped by the parts department to see if I could buy some all weather floor mats. It literally took them an hour to figure out if they had them in stock for my 2016 Yukon Denalli XL and then after they found only one piece, the cargo liner, it was the wrong color. I ended up walking away with only the front mats and completely frustrated over the complete waste of time that had occurred. 2nd time: about two weeks ago I decided to go online and set an appointment for servicing my vehicle (1st service since purchasing the vehicle). I found your online appointment portal fairly straight forward and easy to navigate and most importantly I was able to very clearly identify what I wanted to done to my vehicle. I also assumed (incorrectly) that by doing this I would save time and be able to show up at the dealership and tell them of my appointment and name and they could look me up in their system and see exactly what I wanted done then ask me questions if they had any. Upon arrival on Tuesday I told the service tech my name and appointment time (it was 10 am and I was 5 minutes early). He then looked at me and proceeded to ask me why I was bringing my vehicle in. For the life of me I could not understand why he didn't simply look up what I had put down online???? Complete and total waste of my time, but I played along assuming that this tech adviser may have been technologically challenged. Told him the basics of what I wanted done and specifically that I wanted them to check the alignment because it felt like it was pulling to the right. When I returned 2 hours and 30 minutes later I found my vehicle sitting out front and as I walked by I noticed that the right rear tire that I had to replace at 9K miles due to a blow out was in the same spot as when I dropped it off (this was a clear signal that the tires had not been rotated and I asked online and in person). When I went inside to ask the tech if the vehicle was done, he told me that it was that I did need an alignment, to which my response was "why did you either align it or call and ask me? Don't you think I would want it aligned since I'm the one who told you it felt like it was out of alignment?" At this point we started to try and set up a time to have it aligned because I could not wait another 30 minutes for someone to come back from lunch and then start the alignment. While we were setting up a time to bring it in the next day I asked the service advisor if there was a particular reason why they didn't rotate my tires, to which he was happy to report that they had. At this point I told him why he was wrong and he immediately realized that I was correct because (I'm guessing) he remembered checking tread depth upon arrival and noticing that my right rear had about 15% more tread then the others. So now I'm questioning if my oil was even changed???? To which he assured me it was and I told him that I didn't know that because anyone can reset the gauges in the vehicle...doesn't mean they changed it. His counter was that we could look at the dip stick and see if the oil looked new, and I thought that was a reasonable solution. So we went out there and we were able to verify that they had changed the oil or at least put some new oil in the vehicle, because when we popped the hood there was oil spillage on the top of my engine that they didn't even attempt to wipe clean. The very best car sales experience I have ever had, and at age 70, I've purchased many cars. Darrell Robinette, the sales manager, was the first person I contacted as the car was advertised on the internet and I live in Texas. Darrell gave me very accurate and detailed information about the car and then referred me to his sales associate, Bill Francis. Bill Francis did every single thing anyone could want when it comes to a professional sales person. He stayed in touch with me and my wife, pretty much on a daily basis, as we went through the process of purchasing the car. He was always available and helped through the sometimes frustrating maze of paper work when buying a vehicle from out of state. Bill made sure all the correct forms (there are a lot of them) were filled out and when we brought them to our local DMV, there were no problems. Thanks also to Sara McGill who assisted Bill with the paperwork. We love the car we purchased from Rice Buick GMC but it's even more special because of the wonderful people that work at that dealership. read more
