RicAuto gets a one star for dumping us loyal, but apparently not profitable enough, customers. Yes, after years of good solid work by Junior and his team, and after taking thousands and thousands of dollars to learn, fix, understand and keep running a beautiful 22 year old Jeep Cherokee, Junior said the shop is really busy, has other work to do, and instead of them working on the 2001 Cherokee they know, I should go find another shop. In any language, even your beautiful native Portugese, this is oh so effen insulting and not at all bom. We customers make investments in you and the shop when we stay loyal. We promote and reccomend you and RicAuto to many others. Hey wait a minute, maybe by promoting new customers did we older smaller less profitable ones just arrange our own departure? Dang. We older car owners invested in you and your mechanics in good faith. My investments in were in a 2001 Jeep sold to me by the same man who sold you RicAuto....yeah, Ric. Mine was a close call - old wreck or restorable classic. Its a classic and I paid much for you to learn about the vehicle and so we could keep a this cool American SUV running. And, early on, you helped so much too find clever ways to make affordable repairs. Thank you again. Its what made the voicemail dump so insulting. I called telling you I can and need to invest and get some work. In closing, sure we customers have no right to any return on these investments. No right at all. Only an expectation and belief there will be fair treatment. So, please try to put yourself in one of your former customer's shoes. Where after investing thousands in you and your shop. After spending much so one team can learn and understand an admittedly old (but still cool) machine, I call you for an oil change and you leave a voicemail to the effect of: 'Hi, thanks Jamie, were really really busy, too busy to work on your Jeep, appointments are two weeks out so good luck and please leave.' I'm a certified car nut. I'm that guy. The one that parks far away from people, the one that signs up for various online forums depending on which car I currently own, the one that washes, clays, polishes, and waxes his car twice a year and gets mad a people when they wash their car in a circular motion causing scratches to be more visible, the one that changes his oil religiously and only uses Mobil 1 0W-40, the one that tinkers with and works on his own car, the one that tends to modify the car just past the point of reasonable reliability (im not talking stickers and ricer wings here, folks).... you get the point. My parents have been using Ricauto for years and have never had a problem. From regularly scheduled maintenance to more involved repair work, Ricauto always does an outstanding job, stands behind their work, and is more morally responsible than 99% of repair shops out there. Both Ric and Henry (they are the owners and brothers) make it their personal mission to explain every detail of what they are doing to the car and also make it a point to layout, carefully, all of your available options. I got tired of taking my car to the Porsche dealership for $300 oil changes and quite frankly I dont have the time or the desire to change it myself (and properly dispose of the oil and all that). I bought all the oil on my own and even went out an purchased the oil filter (Porsche uses a different filter than the conventional filter and I also need a crush washer). Lo and behold, I get to Ricauto, and Henry not only has the Mobil 1 0W-40 there for me but also has an OEM Porsche filter, all for about the same price I bought it for. The oil change, all in (including parts and labor) came in well under half of what the dealership normally charges, and he also went through and did a 20 point inspection. The point here is, you can feel just as comfortable bringing in your Accord or WRX as you can bringing in your Porsche or Mercedes (he routinely works on Mercedes, Audis and BMWs). The price is right, Henry and Ric are master mechanics, and they treat the customer with honesty and respect. I never want to see another mechanic EVER. My husband happened to find this place on a Google search and saw how outstanding the reviews were. Junior and his team are exceptionally honest, polite, and are very hard workers. They get to the root of the problem quickly and are always on budget. I cannot believe how inexpensive the pricing is! And they're great with all types of cars. In our family, they have worked on a BMW, VW, Dodge, and Nissan. We had two instances since we started seeing Junior and his team in 2008 where we weren't able to get our cars in to be seen right away (they are busy because people know how amazing their work is!) and we took the cars somewhere else. My husband can fix most anything in a car, he lacks only the garage to do it, so he always knows what the issue is in the cars. In BOTH cases, we were over charged and not only was the problem not properly fixed, but the other guys broke something which wasn't the original problem. Lesson learned! Like I said, if Junior can't see our cars, then the cars wait. I have recommended numerous friends to RicAuto and felt the need to post about them here as well. Just unbelievable service. Seriously. Junior and his team know the cars they service and also knowing the customers threshold for what needs to be fixed what can be left for the future and when it's time to pull the plug and not do major repairs. Fair pricing means no fears that when I'm told a job costs $250 im getting more like $400 worth of quality work for a working mans rate. Junior and his service team are so outstanding and Junior explained every procedure he did (even though I did not understand all the procedures ) and with the excellent job they are honest and quite reasonable. Junior and his team are the only crew I would ever let touch one of my off-warranty vehicles. I most recently brought him my 2013 Acura MDX with 100+k miles on it for an oil change and other more extensive work (timing belt, etc.). Spent about $1,600. A day or two later the "Check engine oil level" light came on. A little frustrating right after an oil change. Called the shop and they told me to bring it back in. I checked dipstick and it seem at bottom of range so I added oil. Light went off and then came back a day later. Checked dipstick again and again seemed low end of range so I added more oil. Then the light just started to go haywire. On, then off, then on again. Over and over. Worth noting that during this time Junior's wife called me several times to follow up and ask me to bring it back. Finally took it back to Junior. He called me back and told me it was the oil pressure sensor that interpolates the oil level and that my oil level was now too high (because I had added oil that wasn't needed). He said that the timing belt work he had done required unplugging the switch and that may have caused a fault of some kind. He replaced the switch and re-set the correct oil level in the matter of a couple of hours on a day when I hadn't made an appointment. But what really impressed me was that he didn't charge my wife when she picked up the car. Now, it's a bit of a judgment call whether charging would have been appropriate, but I'm betting most mechanics and shops would have simply said "it's an old car, not our fault something else went wrong, pay-up." Junior is a class act and a smart guy. I don't know how much that switch and the bit of time cost him, but I guaranty he'll make it back in spades in the volume of business I will continue to send him (my own and referrals of others) in years to come. Someone recommended Ricauto for a great place to take one's car. We had our Sienna Van serviced as well as a number of significant repairs. Junior is terrific. He takes time to explain what he found, identifies risk factors associated with repairing or not repairing, and is spot on in terms of cost. This place deserves more recognition. I took my car to them to have a "check engine light" diagnosed. First, Junior, which later I found is the owner, said he would have to get his diagnostic computer and connect it to the car to find out what was happening. I asked how much that would cost and he said he wouldn't charge for that. He diagnosed the car and found there was noting wrong with it. He explained that a not well tighten gasoline tank cap was triggering the light and I would be fine. He cleaned the computer code and asked me to drive the car. It has been 3 months and the light never came on back again. Before taking my car to Ricauto, I took it to a franchise repair place to have the same problem resolved and they quoted me $300.00.
