I think Dr. Huete is a very caring doctor. He was attentive, informed, and not rushed, during my appointment. He reviewed my recent ultrasound results with me and explained in detail. He also inquired about and listened to questions I had with patience. He examined me to rule out a concern I had and he brought a female nurse in during the exam which made me even more comfortable. He scheduled a follow up appointment with me. He was my doctor 20 years ago until my insurance carrier changed (And remembered). All the staff and nurses were very nice and courteous. The wait until I was taken to a room was a little long but they apologized and he came to the room pretty quickly. I would highly recommend this very experienced doctor. read more

I am a current patient of Dr. Huete's. I was going through fertility and got pregnant but at 9 weeks the baby's heart stopped. I had a DNC on December 17th with Dr. Huete which went as it should and he told me that I needed to wait until my next cycle before trying again. Well since we were going through fertility, I didnt think it was possible to get pregnant but I did. I am what I thought about 6 weeks pregnant and I started bleeding. Dr. Huete is out of town so they told me to go to the ER. I spent 8 hours there and got my blood tests and an abdominal and vaginal ultrasound. My levels were 4284 indicating that I was in fact pregnant but they couldn't see the sac on either ultrasound. The conclusion was that I needed the tests redone in 48 hours to see what was happening, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or normal but too early to see. I called the office again and the on call Dr. Kimble said that I could only get blood work and they didn't have time for an ultrasound, even though this could be life threatening. My appt was at 1:30pm (when they arrive back from lunch) and my husband and I were the first patients there (even before 1:30pm). They didnt take the first patient until 1:55pm. When they finally took me back around 2pm, we decided to ask again for the ultrasound since we were already there. The front desk clerk smirked at my husband and said, "I already told you no" and sent him back to the room with me. When I came out I was crying and tried to plead my situation to her and she said that the doctor already made her decision with a snarky tone. Obviously, with all my hormones and the intense situation I'm physically, mentally and emotionally going through, I left upset. My appt to see the nurse (not even Dr. Huete) is on the 11th. I called back today to get my test results back since they didnt post in the portal and when I finally got a call back from Dr. Huete's assistant (I called the office twice before she called me back) She gave me the results which was my HCG at 5771. She told me that since the number DIDN'T double that it was likely a "normal" pregnancy. Now anyone that has been told they may be having an ectopic pregnancy and done their own research knows that is WRONG INFORMATION. If the HGC level doubles within 48 hours that means it's probably a normal pregnancy. If the HCG level stays relatively around the same number you had priorly, it probably is Ectopic or abnormal in general. If lower, a large chance for a miscarriage. So, since my level only went up 35%, it's not looking good. I would assume they would try to get me in for an ultrasound, but since they don't even understand how to read results, I have no reason to believe they would be competent in their job. I will be looking for a new OBGYN that is more accommodating and frankly more professional than this entire office. This is the WORST experience and I hope nobody has to go through what I am. read more

When he saw me, he was either drunk or is less than competent at his job. He is the type of guy who waits for a plane at a bus stop. All of this, mixed with his god complex made for a a hilarious interaction. What was even better was when I asked him a question. He became upset and walked away mid conversation. His type of care is what you would expect from a middle school student who has been assigned a week of taking care of a pretend baby. He knows nothing. Dr. Huete is professional, compassionate, informative and very skilled at what he does. I changed insurance as soon as we started trying to conceive in order to have him as my OB. I have a history of high risk pregnancy and second trimester loss and Dr. Huete was recommended to me by a friend with the same complications. My pregnancy was full of ups and downs and the entire time Dr. Huete was always there to answer any questions. He came to see me at the hospital during the few scares we had along the way and was very informative and reassuring. We are so thankful to Dr. Huete for getting us full term even when things didn't look very promising he was always willing to try every option to keep me pregnant as long as possible. Our experience with Dr. Huete has been very similar to those of the women who've reviewed him so far. This is our first pregnancy so we had many questions and a birth plan in mind that we wanted to discuss with the doctor on our first visit. He truly does have an arrogant and condescending attitude and insists upon doing things his way with no compromise. My husband and I are planning an unmedicated birth and wanted to know if the doctor would be supportive of our choices. Right away he dismissed our viewpoints as uninformed, and further dismissed our wishes and plans as unnecessary and ridiculous. He made his stance very clear. "It's [his] way or the highway". To add further insult to injury, when we had a question about going past our due date, and/or what his procedures were for labor induction, he chose to entertain us with an anecdote about a patient who had gone past her due date, opted out of induction and was "walking around with a dead baby". Dr. Huete's emotional abuse and insult to intelligence isn't something that any mother to be should be subjected to. As a patient you have the right to ask questions and inform yourself about what's right for you, your body and the life of your baby. No one needs to be bullied into submission. I'd advise everyone to steer clear of this doctor completely. read more

Edit: After my original bad review and experience, the office manager called me. She was very apologetic, and listened attentively to my concerns. I decided to go through with my procedure because of her customer service. The procedure itself went better than anticipated, and Dr. Huete has a very gentle hand. Always excercise caution when choosing a doctor. The sum of my good and bad experiences equal 3 stars for this office. Original review: I made an appointment as a new paitent to remove my current IUD and replace it. On the phone I was reassured that I could have everything done in my first appointment with Dr. Huete. At the office I was called back to a room 40 minutes after my appointment time. Dr. Huete asked me several questions and did not listen to my answers. He made many assumptions that were just not correct. To make things worse, he told me that they do not keep IUDs in stock and that the office had to order one (I asked specifically if they could have everything done in my first appointment). I told him I was disappointed because my partner took the day off work to take me to my appointment. Dr. Huete did not care that my partner and I were so inconvenienced. I will not be coming back to this office. They do not treat new patients well. read more

He hasnt canceled on me at the last minute . His front desk girls a friendly and his office is clean with plenty of free parking. They even do ultra sounds in the office . To sum it up, Long wait times for a 5 minute rushed appointment, curt girls working there, non personal, they don't listen to concerns. During delivery, we had to wait hours with the baby almost "out," before the doctor showed up because he thought I wasn't going to deliver so fast, he basically caught the baby after 1 push. I had told him that I was concerned that I was going to deliver early for "x" reasons and he didn't address any, waved me off as being healthy, and going full term, I delivered the very next day 1 month premature. Mind you, my dad is an OB/GYN, so I wasn't some crazy patient. I'd give them 1 star but he ran tests, his office filed paperwork correctly, I got to deliver at Little Company of Mary (awesome!), and I had a healthy baby. read more

Sorry, but I cannot stand this man anymore. So therefore, I degrade my review for him even more-I think at first it was 2 stars and then 3 because I thought he was getting better but after last Tuesday and making me cry my eyes out inside that examining room I now give him the lowest score ever!!!!!!! He is just way to hostile when he talks to me. After my last visit I vowed to myself never to see this doctor again!!!! He exaggerates things to more than what they are and to make it worse he lies just to make the patient believe that he's always right. He doesn't listen to his patients or at least take into consideration their thoughts or ideas at all. You ask him a question and he becomes so scary and defensive as if you are insulting his thinking. I asked him to retest me for my blood test since it was almost 2 months ago and a lot can change in that time and he callously, pompously, and arrogantly replied to me without even giving me eye contact "NO THE RESULTS ARE PRETTY CONCLUSIVE." Reality check--NO THEY'RE NOT BECAUSE THOSE RESULTS WERE TAKEN WAY BACK ON THE 13TH OF JUNE AND IT WAS ALREADY TUESDAY AUGUST 8TH so yes a truly good doctor would take in to consideration what I said and retest their patients if it was almost 2 months since the blood test was done. You know why he refused to retest my blood, IT'S BECAUSE HE'S AFRAID THAT THE TEST MIGHT PROVE A LOT OF HIS IDEAS WRONG AND THEREFORE HURT HIS EXTREMELY HUGE EGO--AND BELIEVE ME, THIS MAN TRULY HAS ONE OF THE MOST GIGANTIC EGOS I HAVE EVER SEEN OR EXPERIENCED!!!!!! Yes, I definitely could see all his true colors coming out now, it is his way or the highway, he is very arrogant and also pompous, callous, and smug and never wants to be wrong. He never takes into consideration what his patients think only if they agree with him and kiss his feet and lick his ass as if it were ice cream. He has one of the biggest egos I have ever seen in my life. YES, I AM EXTREMELY ENRAGED AT HIM FOR MAKING ME CRY MY EYES OUT AND MAKING ME FEEL LIKE SCUM-NO THAT'S TOO MILD-- IT WAS MORE LIKE SHIT LAST TUESDAY MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My best friend had Dr.Huete for her first pregnancy and said he was nice but wouldn't recommend him because he didn't deliver her baby, he went on vacation and didn't say anything. I met Dr. Huete and agreed that he was nice. He answers questions and is very knowledgeable. I thought it was a fluke and asked him if he was planning on taking any time off during my expected due date. He said no so I stayed. And although what I said is true, I gave him one star for various reasons listed below. #1. Expect to wait a MINIMUM of one hour for every appointment. He is always (and I mean always) late and it backs up his whole day. #2. He is always rushing. It probably has to do with #.1 #3. He was in the hospital when my labor started, but left after saying a very short hi. He didn't deliver my baby, which after going to him for 9 months was very disappointing. I waited for him for every single appointment and he could at least have had the decency to say 'hey I'm leaving after my long shift & another doctor is going to take good care of you'. #4. The morning after my baby was delivered he came and left my room within 1 minute. Didnt ask how I was & didn't even acknowledge my baby. He just talked about post-op stuff. #5. In my follow-up appointment I found out he went on vacation. I wouldn't have given 2 fu*ks at this point. My baby was born and healthy. BUT I had complications and a few things were sent to pathology so I wanted to know the status of that. I was told that if anything was concerning I would be told right away but if I wanted to know anything else I'd have to wait for him to come back from vacation. I was never seen by Huete for my follow-up but my insurance sent a bill stating otherwise!!!! I would seriously not EVER recommend him as anyone's OB. Pregnancy is a beautiful time and a woman should be with a compassionate and caring physician. Not someone who's only interested in the payout. read more

Although I am very grateful that my childs delivery was smooth and healthy, my experience with the office and Dr. Huete SUCKED!. Even with an appointment you are basically guaranteed a wait time of about an hour before you are let in, then another 30 minutes before you are seen for 2 minutes only to be let go and do the cycle all over again... I felt that Dr.Huete was extremely arrogant, and when I mentioned to him that my period always came exactly every 18 days regardless of what stage my birth control pills was in he said that was "impossible".. because I felt like making up a story about my period right??? When I asked him how often he performed episiotomies he became defensive insiting he would perform one if he needed to (I wasnt arguing, just asking.. but that gave me an insight as to expect one). Sure enough the day I went into labor everything was going smoothly, and as soon as he walked in he picked up the scissors and cut away! I overhard the nurse really upset after he left telling someone I didnt need an episiotomy that he was always just in a rush to be done with the delivery. The recovery from it wasnt too bad, but I wish he had been more honest about how scissors happy he is. read more

This doctor is a horrible person. I barely started my second trimester and I went to him since Little Company of Mary referred me to him. They have him listed as a specialist with high care for high risk pregnancies since that's what I'm going through and when I went in to see him he said I will nat see yoy because of your high risk pregnancy toyr weight your siabetes and I will not be putting my license on the line for yoy. Go to Harbor Hospital because I will not be attending you here nor at Little Company of Mary. His worda werw so cruel I teared up since I keep hearing I am having a high risk pregnancy yet he did not explain what are the possible complications nor why he would not take me if he is listed as a specialist. He's a cruel man he walked out of the office did not apologize or give me any kind of consoling words nor offer me a tissue. He did not care. Its a lie that he's a caring doctor. He has no heart he's cruel. I will never recommend rhis doctor. As a matter of fact I will contact Little company of mary and the BBB and tell them what a horrible person he is. i'm baffled by the negative reviews. I find Dr Huete very approachable. I was referred to his office by Dr McCann for a surgery. I've had 4 appointments. When setting up my appointments I have usually spoken to Vanessa. She has always been friendly & professional. I have not had a long wait time with any of my appointments. Edna, Dr Huete's assistant, was very patient & helpful with paperwork I needed. I really enjoy Dr Huete. I find him a very kind man. He explained my procedure thoroughly & took his time answering my questions & concerns. I have never felt rushed in any of my appointments. I think he is a genuine person & a fine doctor. read more

I'm really hoping my experience at this office improves. So far, I'm finding that his staff is very impersonal and sloppy with their work. They've given me wrong information and submitted my authorizations incorrectly, costing me hours of time away from work for no good reason. They seem to have no regard for a patient's schedule. And I was really disappointed that Dr. Huete knew his office messed up with my appointment once, but never addressed my husband or me face-to-face about it. In genera, he is very professional but lacks warmth and charisma. Like Cristina R's experience, I've told him some things that he wrote off. As if we don't know our own bodies! He also gives as less information as possible. I know that I am one of thousands of pregnant woman in the area, but it sucks to just feel like a number. And that's what you are in that office. With an appointment, you will wait anywhere from 45 mins to an hour just to be called in. I really hope I don't have to switch docs. This is my first pregnancy and I'm hoping things improve. The staff is unorganized and curt. The doctor himself seems he is in a rush and not very attentive. This is our first pregnancy and we are inexperienced, so a little help and direction would have been appreciated. So if your looking for care you wont find it here. I don't know what these other women are talking about. Dr. Huete delivered all 5 of my babies. I live in Anaheim and was willing to make the drive to Torrance just so that I could keep him as my doctor. I have referred friends and relatives to him and they all love him and have stuck with him. Dr. Huete was my OB for my first baby over ten years ago and it seems not much has changed with regard to his arrogance, lack of compassion, the fact that he was on vacation for the actual birth, to the horrible postpartum care I received from his staff since he was nowhere to be found. I am still scarred from my experience with him and his whole staff and even more surprised he is still in practice. I have gone on to have two other high risk pregnancies and births that were amazing with an incredibly kind, compassionate and amazing doctor and staff. Dr Huete came highly recommended from a work colleague who was diagnosed with utertarian cancer. Dr treated her and worked with her and the family during recovery and 3 months after she was cancer free she became pregnant. I lost 3 babies, had an ectopic pregnancy and was unsuccessful for 1.5yr after...... The doc and his staff worked with me until I successfully conceived. I had a great experience felt the camaraderie amount the staff and myself...... Maybe because I was there longer and more often compared to a healthy pregnancy. The wait with an appointment is long and the doctor visit did feel rushed and abrupt once or twice but he's very professional, friendly and highly recommended. I gave birth at 41 weeks and dr. Huete kept telling me that i had an 8 pounder.... And when i was INDUCED at 41 weeks, i was in labor for 12 hours with a high fever and babys heart rate was high... Well..... I had to have c section at last minute.... Bby was 10 lbs.. 23 nches and i wouldnt have been able to have him naturally anyway... So i think he could have atleast tried to do another ultrasound towards the end of pregnancy to measure baby.. As i know you cant find out exact measurements ot weight... My son now has hip dysplasia... Hip click... Pretty much because he was so big and didnt have enough room to stretch inside my belly... He needed to come out earlier than the 41 weeks.. Baby never dropped like he was supposed to... And i kept telling him i felt him kick right under my breast... I wouldnt recommend dr. Huete... He simply doesnt take time with his patients... He answers questions with short answers.. And makes you feel dumb when asking certain questions... and when it comes to your unborn child, no question is dumb... giving birth is a big deal...Short tempered and not too nice to nurses at hospital.. No bedside manner..his nurses are nice but kind of question me when i say im still in pain. I cant drive around yet and literally my insides hur! But they question that.... Forgot to mention he wanted me to have my son at torrance memorial just to pretty much accomodate his schedule... read more
