I had a great experience at Dr. Mirhashemi's office and with his team. I was referred for a large ovarian cyst, endometriosis and painful cycles. My first appointment I waited 1 hour, which I see people have issue with on the reviews. The truth is- sometimes specialized care takes time. If you have questions for the care team you expect them to take time with you. The one hour wait is not an issue when you consider this isa surgical office that sometimes has pop up emergency patients. The office was kind to me when I checked in. I saw the Dr. who answered all my questions and had an immediate plan of care going into the appointment. Then I sat with Evelyn to schedule. She is wonderful! So clear and assuring in her demeanor and very knowledgeable about insurance policies. She was also so easy to reach when I had questions post scheduling. Another shout out to Natalie who helped me with all the confusing paperwork that was needed by my work for time off. I don't think I could have figured it out without her! Im still healing, but I feel like I was taken great care of and so lucky to have Dr. Mirhashemi operate on me given his expertise in his field. It seems like it was quite the procedure and he was able to complete it all laparoscopic, something a lesser surgeon could not. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Ramin. I waited over an hour past my scheduled appointment time in an extremely overcrowded waiting room. It was 9am and the office was so packed that patients were standing in the hallway. Multiple people around me were complaining about how late their appointments were running. When I was finally seen, it felt rushed and unprepared. He had not reviewed my biopsy results ahead of time and looked at them for the first time while I was in the room. He did not perform a vaginal exam, yet my Explanation of Benefits later reflected that one was billed to my insurance. During the appointment, he even acknowledged that I might not have CIN 2 or 3. Despite that uncertainty, he still recommended scheduling surgery. I ultimately sought another opinion at USC, where the specialist repeated the biopsy and confirmed that the diagnosis was only CIN 1 and that surgery was not necessary. When you are dealing with something as serious as surgery, you want a physician who is prepared, thorough and cautious before recommending an invasive procedure. That was not my experience here. I strongly encourage patients to find a different doctor. read more

In 2020, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and Dr. Mirhashemi was my oncologist. During my initial consultations with Dr. Mirhashemi, he told me that my cervical cancer was stage 2, and recommended that I have a full hysterectomy and remove the cancer. After surgery, I was sent home with a catheter, and after a week returned to Dr. Mirhashimi's office to have the cathetar removed. I told the nurse that my urine had a foul smell and that I had pain in my lower back. The nurse told me that it was common, and not to be concerned. The following day, I was burning up with fever and rushed to Torrance Memorial ER and diagnosed with a kidney infection. While in the hospital, the stents that were inserted into my ureters during the surgery to remove the cancer had to be surgically removed. Dr. Mirhashimi told me that I had to have chemo and radiation, which was delayed because a couple weeks after the kidney infection I was rushed to Torrance Memorial ER with a fever and diagnosed with C-Diff. Recovery has been ongoing. I continue to suffer from mind bending pain from neuropathy in my body and still have pelvic and back pain. During a recent meeting with a oncology radiologist at a different hospital, I learned that my cancer was more advanced than what Dr. Mirhashemi told me. In fact, I was stage 3 and not stage 2. The radiologist told me that the procedure generally followed for stage 3 cancer is to first have radiation and chemo to shrink the tumor, and then perform surgery. Fortunately, the cancer had only metastasized in a pelvic lymph node, and I am still alive. It is not my intent to write a negative review of Dr. Mirhashemi, instead, it is written to be transparent and straight forward with the care and treatment I received from him as his patient. read more

Dr. Mirhashemi did my laparoscopic hysterectomy one week ago today. For some reason, I did not speak to him after the surgery even though he walked by me twice while in recovery. I had no information except from the recovery nurse. I believe him to be an excellent surgeon; however, no contact after surgery seems negligent on his part. I know docs are busy, however, this seemed out of character as he has always been very attentive. The worse part of all this is his office staff. I have called his office 5 times to see about scheduling an appointment to have the staples removed and no return call. This is so frustrating and I am hoping that this review will be read by him and his office staff will call me back next week. There is an auto message that simply says the person is not available and then a beep. I guess one has to hope that a message is being recorded. Amazing amazing amazing! I had uterine fibroids and Dr Mirhashemi was able to remove them robotically. I love that I had the pleasure of having such a great doctor. I have a crazy 2 yr old and was still in pain and he signed off on letting me stay an extra day. He came on a Saturday to check up on me. He has been nothing but jovial and always has a smile on his face. I'm so glad I fought with my insurance company and multiple obgyns to see Dr. Mirhashemi. He's experienced, nice, great bedside manner and you know he's great when he's plastered all over Torrance Memorial's ads. After suffering from Endometriosis, for the past 35yrs, the only options at my age, was either get a hysterectomy, or keep suffering from heavy, painful - debilitating periods until I went through Menopause. After careful thought and consideration, I chose to have a laparoscopic, robotic hysterectomy, with Dr. Mirhashemi. Advice to my fellow Sistas out there, If you are considering having the surgery, hopefully your insurance takes Dr. M! I dutifully researched experts in this procedure & Dr. M has the most extensive experience in this field. I was fortunate enough, to receive this procedure only, because there was a cancellation. Otherwise I would have had to wait another year, because My hubby only had time to take care of me over the Summer. I had the hysterectomy at Torrance Memorial, Outpatient Hospital, on 7/12/19. Dr. M would have preferred me to have the surgery at his ops location, which I think is apart of his practice, however my insurance only covered the procedure, to be done at Torrance Memorial. You know he's the finest Dr., when Nurses and Staff at Torrance Memorial praise him, continuously!~~This was very reassuring! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about him and his very talented surgical hands! Yes, his bedside manners are exceptional! Yes he's charming, and his easy on the eyes! However, my interactions with his staff and at Torrance Memorial, could have been better. On the day of my surgery, one of the Pre op nurses had to draw blood for a pregnancy test, because the preop nurse, the week prior forget to get a vial! .. On my surgery day, the Nurse on duty was trying to find my vein in my left hand, she totally missed my vein & said my vein had collapsed. So she tried again on my right hand. I still have a scar on my left hand! While drawing blood on my right hand, I started to feel dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out, because remember you have to fast for 10-12 hours prior. And the cherry on top~ It turned out, they didn't need the vial after all, because it was too close to the surgery time, so they did a urinal test instead, and that vial of blood went straight in the trash chute! Grrr.. My anesthesiologist, Dr. Rothenstein, was also very charming and friendly. Clearly, the anesthesiologist on duty is also your bff and you want to be courteous back!:) Upon waking up, after the surgery, the anesthesia effects was absolutely horrible! I couldn't stop vomiting, and felt overly nauseous. The nurses on duty, were suppose to hit me with some anti-nausea meds, but did not. I asked for them, but the Nurse said they wouldn't have been effective because I was fully awake! Another Grrr!!! The first 72 hours are the roughest. I bought a medical girdle from AliExpress, this helped a lot around the abdominal area. I lived on broths, rice congee(porridge), jello and green smoothies. I was getting a little concerned because I lost my appetite, but after a week, I knew I was recovering well, after I craved a burger! 3 weeks on, I am happy to report I feel fantastic, no more back & pelvic pain-lost x4lbs! Dr Mirhashemi removed 38 fibroids and did reconstructive surgery on my uterus last June. I am grateful for his craft and his attention to detail with my procedure. Although I didn't show him at the time how grateful I was, I hope this review let's him know that. An area of development for both patients and physicians in cases like this is to engage in effective and clear communication on both the process, procedure and alternative plans of action should it deem necessary. By engaging in effective and clear communication about specific techniques, procedures being performed and alternative plans of action, no confusion will arise when procedure changes have to incur to ensure safety and effective treatment. When talking with patients and your doctor, try to strategically come up with several clear plans of action for your treatment plan. No call back! I spoke with the office and in the process of making an appointment for my mother the receptionist asked me to hold but dropped my call. I called back and left a message. No call back. Called a week later and again left a message. Here I am another 2 weeks later and nothing. I have gone elsewhere for my mothers care. So unprofessional. Flat out lack of basic courtesy. I am a patient of Dr. Mirhashemi's. He's a lovely man and has taken excellent care of me, clinically and surgically. But his office staff have completely spoiled my experience. A few weeks ago it was time for my follow up testing to learn if the surgery was successful. I have been waiting for weeks to learn the results. No postcard is sent, no email, no voicemail; this is their standard, they can't be bothered. Firstly that's basic follow up, but it only makes sense to share the good news that all is fine (which will only make me think more highly of Dr. Mirhashemi) or share bad news in a timely manner so we can discuss the nexts steps. I can't remember how many messages I've left with both the "results" line and the front desk, and no one has been professional enough to respond. I was treated at South Bay Gynecological Oncology Associates with Dr. Mirhashemi, MD and had the best experience during my care. He is very caring and understanding listens to your concerns. Helps to answers your questions and reports in layman's terms. Offers local resources and support groups. Call backs from him are in a speedy return even after hours to answer questions or concerns. The staff and nurses are great, you have to keep up with a couple of girls in the front office and follow up for your needs. Wait times are good unless there was an emergency call for the doctor or work in woman for treatment. Chemo room is comfortable, nurses are most caring, they will take your calls for all your needs. The doctor is nice but the rest is not. The wait is at least 30 minutes past your appointment time. I overheard the staff talking negatively about a patient and how she dresses, calling her a "hoochie." The woman at the desk called to remind me of my MRI appointment and i specifically asked to confirm they'd send an anti anxiety med. she said yes. I called again to confirm, as i had not received a prescription. Again, she said yes. I arrive the day of, assuming maybe giving them the benefit of the doubt it would be given at the facility. No. I had a panic attack, being claustrophobic. Then i call for results, as no one called to explain them. The woman on the phone says "okay yes, so you're getting the surgery." I'm freaking out thinking i have cancer. She says, "oops nevermind wrong person!" Then will have the doctor call. No call. So i call again. read more

I have to say that my experience with Dr M was nothing but amazing and pleasant. He was very thorough. He reviewed by case and gave me a very professional and careful opinion. I had seen another gyn in Torrance who said that given my extensive surgical history, there was no way I can have laparoscopic surgery. I am glad I went to Dr Mirhashemi who reviewed my CT scan with me and felt that I was a candidate for robotic laparoscpy. He did my hysterectomy and I was home within hours of the operation and was back to work in 6 days. Thank god there are surgeons like him who can perform these very complex surgeries. Dr Mirhashemi is in the business of making money. I was seen once for less than 20 minutes and was immediately told a laparoscopy was the answer to eliminating my pain that the Drs assumed was endometriosis. After my operation I was still in pain. When I went back for a follow up I waited for 2 hours to see the Dr, sat with him for 5 minutes and was told to go see an orthopedic surgeon. I am confused as to why Dr M did not suggest my pain was coming from a muscular issue or possible nerve damage in my spine until after he performed my unnecessary surgery...Probably because he cares more about money than what is best for his patients. I was the idiot that allowed him to talk me into the surgery that he assured me would take care of my pain and resolve my longtime issues. Have been told by other OBGYNs that are familiar with Mirahashemi that he is quick to get you on the operating table. I really do like Dr Mirhashemi very much but his office and staff are some of the worst I've ever encountered. I've been his patient for almost 2 years now, following ovarian cancer, a complete hysterectomy and 6 mos of chemo. The chemo staff is great but there's no WiFi, so sitting there for 4 hours listening to their radio station was a challenge for me. Not something I'm used to in 2017. But that is really the least of my complaints. For almost 2 years, I've struggled with the staff to get appointments (the Dr is only in the office 1-2 days per week), keep appointments (they have canceled existing appointments several times) and be seen in a timely manner once I'm there. I once waited over 3 hours and then was told he was called into surgery so I could wait a while longer to see the nurse practitioner. The phone is rarely answered but leaving messages has never worked for me. They don't call back. I had to advocate for myself to get my routine, follow up CT scan scheduled. Then they scheduled it but didn't tell me when and when I called to ask they said "well, you missed it". It was re-scheduled and the CT tech told me the Dr would have my results the following day. That was a week ago. I've called twice and was told they'd call me back with the results, but they have not. Dr Mirhashemi is a good surgeon, very calming, friendly, great bedside manner, super nice guy and yet my overall experience with Gynecological Associates has been very frustrating. My latest update in 2019 is much the same; phone rarely answered, no call backs, no ability to email the office, no WiFi, etc. Everyone is nice but they are either understaffed or hire incompetent people, I'm not sure which. I am currently in a dispute over a charge that I incurred due to being misled by the scheduler. Thanks to her mistake, I now owe $800 for a procedure that should have been free had she scheduled me at the correct facility. I specified to her several times that I needed to go to a freestanding facility, not one that bills as a hospital. She assured me that Polak Imaging bills as freestanding, so I went. They actually bill as a hospital (so be aware of that). Gynecological Oncology Associates is trying to pass the buck and get me to file an "unable to pay" form with the hospital. Dr. Ramin Mirhashemi was recommended by another of one of my other medical physicians for hysterectomy. In addition, many of the staff I encountered at Little Co.of Mary endorsed him (from Admitting to surgical and room staff!) when I mentioned his name. He has a great "bedside" manner and immediately I felt at ease about the procedure during our consultation, where we discussed my situation and he made recommendation. There are about 3 methods to use and he chose laparoscopy with robotics. In my case, appropriate and lends itself to "easy" and shortened recovery time. I came to understand that it's very important to have a physician who is SKILLED with this technology and Dr. Ramin is known to be highly skilled. In addition, along the way, he helped to overcome a hurdle I encountered with my insurance company to gain final approval... The surgery (one week ago) was seamless and I am now in recovery mode and doing very well (to my surprise), which is a testiment to the Dr., technology and procedure...My follow up appointment will be next week and I'm anticipating a solid recovery and ultimately, better quality of life. Dr. Mirahashemi is the absolute best. I have been his patient for 3 years now and have undergone 2 successful surgeries from him. Both surgeries went extremely well because he is so skilled it allows for faster and less painful healing. He has wonderful bed side manner and never fails to make me feel heard and understood. I am so thankful I found him!! His office staff has to work fast because they have so many patients so be understanding with them and know they are under pressure but they make things happen! Dr. Mirhashemi is the best... He didn't give me the runaround like the other gynecologist I saw... I've been going through this for the past 2 years... I had multiple fibroids all over my uterus and it was diseased... I had a ruptured cyst in my ovaries and I had month long periods... I was in a lot of pain and as soon as he saw my test results he scheduled me for surgery the next week... I had a Robotic Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Bilateral Uterosacral Ligament done... I am forever grateful to Dr. Mirhashemi and his staff for taking good care of me... I would recommend him to anybody going through female problems... He truly is an angel from heaven... read more

They both share superb surgical skills and tremendous professional experience. They have extensive training in Gynecological Oncology and are called to assist in the most difficult cases. I had thought coming to this doctors office would be great. Ive came here twice, I had waited for awhile to meet the Doctor the first time I had met him. The front desk seemed tolerable but I was guilt tripped because I didnt bring pictures or info from my last gyno. Now Ive been to many, many, many doctors and its not up to the patient's responsibility to get them. They can easily call and send a fax over. I had even spoke to the doctor thatI felt bad and guilty for not bringing it and he felt apologetic about it and said not to worry/wasnt a big deal. Yet front desk made it a bigger deal than what he made it seem. They did tell me bring info the first time I had made a appt. but I had to reschedule due to my job. So when I rescheduled they never mentioned that I had to bring in info. Either way, I shouldnt have to feel a certain way just because I didnt bring pictures from my last surgery and etc. If I am coming here for new symptoms and feeling new pains then lets address that first! The appt itself..I felt as if I was rushed, I did ask him questions about my cysts and endo. He couldnt diagnose anything that day because his ultrasound technician wasnt here that day. I felt honestly disspointed and underwhelmed because we only talked for 15mins while waiting in the lobby for 45 mins then 30mins inthe room for the doctor to come in. I had asked why couldnt he do it because all of my gynos have been able to do it themselves with a nurse i the room. He said he could but it wouldnt be as great. I was just kinda dumbfounded at first but I just let it go/give him the benefit of doubt. He told me to make another appointment for the ultrasound itself next week. It was honestly a huge inconvience doing that because my job comes out with the schedule two-three weeks in advance and the doctors availabilty is only on certain days so that was a pain. I came in for the ultrasound, the front desk again didnt seem to let me know to wait or let the ultrasound tech know I was here. Im always on time 15-30 mins before my appt..I was waiting there (no joke) an hour before the technician to come out into the lobby and say are you here for an appt for a ultrasound?? WELL DUH I AM! She said she didnt know I was here (thanks front desk) and was waiting for another patient but that person never showed up. Now I was honestly pissed..front desk didnt seem to care at all both times for my time and money..I never made them mad in anyway and I have watched how they treat other patients and they are totally nice to them..but to me? Im just another face and just let me sit there wasting my time and feeling not appreciated at all. I dont expect butterflies, sparkles, and smiley faces 24/7 but please BE courteous, let me know someone will be with me, how long its going to take etc. Front desk is who you see first and both times ..def. not happy. they only got happy when the delivery guy came in for their lunches to be delivered. I am not even lying, it was funny just seeing how they automatically changed their emotions. My boyfriend and I were not happy just not being notified about anything. We did give them the benefit of the doubt by waiting a little longer before he or I were gonna go up to them again to see what was the hold up/info on when the tech. was gonna see me. The ultrasound was fine, the tech said the doctor would call me when he saw these. Well its been a month since that ultrasound and no phone call. No notification saying he got your ultrasound pics of your ovaries. Its not my job at all especially after that day noone told me to make another appt for him to talk to me. I shouldnt have be told the doctor is going to call me and still hasnt till this day. I shouldnt have to do the follow up & the work when I am the patient b/c im not taking another job than my full time job that i already have, okay?? Also the receptionist in the back of the lobby told me i didnt have to pay copay for ultrasound which is weird bc usually its a doctors visit and guess what 2 months later i am billed for $35 for the copay from my ultrasound appt. sighhhhh! Im not going to call to speak to front desk and make yet another 15min appt and 1hr wait. Mind you, the ultrasound day...no one was there waiting in the lobby. I honestly wanted to give this doctor a chance due to a previous yelpers review that he specilaize in cysts, endo., etc but I guess my insurance and money will be going back to my old gyno or searching for a new one since my health is first. I shouldnt have to do other people's job and put my health on the line. he was very polite when i met him but that office is a hot mess with follow ups, incorrect info given (hence the $35 co pay i couldve have paid back in December after being told i didnt have to) and i honestly just didnt get the upper hand as other patients did. thats okay because it just wasnt meant to be, honestly i want to feel comfortable with both the doctor and front desk staff with follow ups and i didnt. read more
