I have been looking for a mechanic since relocating to Wausau about 6 months ago. Went there for…read morethe first time. I had a problem with a tire and I was a bit concerned (I have fairly unusual tires that are difficult to find). They took it, diagnosed the problem in about 15 minutes and it turned out to be something very minor. While I was there I had them do some routine maintenance (oil change, air filter, tire rotation, etc.). I was in and out in about 90 minutes and the price was very reasonable. The seem like good, honorable mechanics. Also, their online appointment system worked flawlessly. I set a time, they offered a different time (just two hours later), they confirmed by text and email and were ready and waiting for me when I arrived. So often those online/electronic systems do not work. This was terrific. I will be back.

But, they said they didn't know if they could do a drain and fill with filter replacement for auto 2012 passat and they said I had to take it in to see if they could. I did and they called me saying they could do it. Great, the dealer charges about 500 and I could do ot myself for under 339. Service advisor said it would be over 1000 dollars and if I didn't want it that I pay 85 for them telling me what a ridiculous, twice as much as VW dealer would charge. They had my car so I paid the 85 and want them to know they lost a customer for now unless something happens. Why did I not be told 85 bucks just to see if they can do a job?

Also stole spare tire from vehicle it was listed and in photographs online but missing when purchased.

An honest used car salesman. Really? Yes, Really. Chris Ziegler is that guy, maybe one of a kind…read morein the business. These days used cars are all pretty much priced the same. It's all been commoditized by KBB, Carfax, etc. So the only thing that really distinguishes one dealership from another is the selection on the lot, and the person in charge. Hometown motors has a great selection of late model vehicles, competitively priced (the Ford Explorer we bought was actually priced below market) and can be locally financed through a credit union. And, most importantly, they continue to treat you like a customer long after the sale is finalized. We had some questions a few days later and Chris was very helpful. Don't waste time shopping around- just go straight to Hometown Motors! I know we will again, even though we live three hours away.

I brought the car back the next day for the brakes. They explained all of the options about what was needed now and what could wait a while. They ordered the parts, and fixed it while I waited the same day. They did a great job. More was needed than I expected, but my car is pretty old (but in fantastic shape), so I was not surprised. Their labor prices may be a bit higher than some of the smaller shops in town, but not much different. I echo the other posters here about their customer service. It was professional and friendly. The waiting room is sufficiently comfy if you have to wait a while. Also, they have really fast free wi-fi; I was able to get some work done while I waited. It will definitely become my go to place for oil changes and basic car repair work.

These were expensive wheels from a 50k car. Would not reccomend this place to my worst enemy.
