The selection was rough and there was never anything decent so I stopped coming. But on my return visit (and it has been a few years), things have changed for the better! See, I don't mind if I don't find anything for myself as long as I feel the selection is good. By that, I mean the booths are fresh, well thought out, and the items are diverse and unique. That is exactly what the shop is now. The b est way to describe it is it is ALIVE! In a way that it definitely was not before. A great mix of collectable cameras, guitars, records, as well as some unique home decor items. I wound up getting 3 great pieces. It gave me hope that someone behind the scenes is paying attention and really cares. I will definitely be back every few months. Can't wait to see what pops up. And, the service was friendly and that really makes a difference. I always recommend following @antiquesalley on Instagram. The owner is a straight shooter and a knowledgeable guy. He treated me with respect and I felt like a valued customer, the complete opposite of what I have always encountered in record stores over the years.

Whenever I've stopped by I have found a few nice things that I would like to have but often come to realize I either don't need them or they do not fit with the decor in my house. A couple years ago I bought a nice set of 6 hardwood dining room chairs that were probably about 90 years old. One or two of the chairs have needed a little wood glue to sure them up and the seats of chairs would benefit from being reupholstered someday but I have absolutely no regrets for buying antique chairs with a lot of character for around $75 each rather than something more expensive and kind of generic from Ikea or another big box store.

Last week I had an appointment for 401 Antiques of Cumberland, RI to stop by and review my Vintage…read moreitems. No big deal, right? The gentleman stated he was interested in a few pieces and that's cool, takes pictures and states that he sent them over to the other store in MA, and he needed to speak with them and call me back within 20-30 minutes with an offer. Great, right? I sat here and waited, not just 30 minutes, but for an hour and a half waiting for these people (because I know things happen and time slips away) so I waited in case we cut a deal and they needed to pick up. My son needed to go to hospital that afternoon and I didn't go because of this issue with 401 Antiques. I called and left a msg. late that afternoon but figured they just didn't get back to me in time. Called again in morning of next day, and to my dismay, they never called back! I really don't care if they had other intentions, I don't care if they changed your mind, whatever, I really have no issues with it. I DO have an issue with them being nonprofessional by not simply placing a call back to me stating you discussed it and you're not interested, which would have been the polite thing to do. 401 Antiques is extremely unprofessional to potential customers.
