The food was really not as spicy as I would have liked (the beef patties were a little spicy tho) but the curry had a mild spice but still flavorful the jerk and ox tails flavorful too but spicy they were not. The plantain was a really nice touch a little hint of sweetness which is why I missed the spicy notes but all in all it was good worth a try! the staff was very friendly and the vibes were inviting.

It seems people are more involved with the hype of things rather than the truth. This establishment I've been dreading to get to because of the hype and false reviews. When it comes to food it's my second nature. When I walk into any establishment my radar starts from the moment I walked into any restaurant. This establishment is mixed in with many small other food vendors at the Krate off the Grove. A new way for small businesses to start off. Not much room inside but a few tables outside. You have to scan a business card to see menu for you can order. The setup wasn't thought proper. They did go the cheap route by doing plastic containers and package utensils. I get it it saves on piled dishes. If your seated inside your guaranteed to be surrounded by people waiting for their orders. Imagine you're sitting enjoying your food and people hovering over you waiting for orders. The 2 high tables are your best bet for indoors. Now the food, we ordered a medium oxtail meal which consists of rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. 2 jerk chicken meals same sides but we did one mild and one spicy. Unfortunately we know baked chicken when see it. There is no grill nowhere around for the chicken to be grilled on. The moist chicken is definitely from being covered and cooked in oven. What they do is pour sauce all over your chicken to throw you off. The rice and peas fell short (in need of more coconut milk). Our boys enjoyed the oxtails but I didn't get a chance to taste any of it for they sat at the second high table by themselves. Where do I see this establishment going (not far) once you present yourself as a gimmick then that's how you'll end up being a gimmick. They may have bamboozled the masses but the real ones see right through this place. Only time will tell and I see another 2 years before another small restaurant comes in and takes over.

Recently tried Rhythm Pon De Grille at the Krate market area. The interior is clean and relatively spacious compared to other shops in the plaza. The staff were super kind and friendly. We got the medium jerk chicken plate. This dish was delicious and packed with food! Very good deal for ~$11, especially compared to other restaurants in the area which give half the food for twice the price. Loved the glaze on the jerk chicken. The rice and peas were perfectly cooked. Plantains were excellent. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes!

Unfinished food, might be the first time ever for jerk chicken.

Got the medium oxtail and the medium jerk chicken. Oxtail was good from what my son told me. Though it was a little pricey $27 for a medium. It was all little oxtail pieces so, that was diasppointig. I was definitely disappointed in the jerk chicken. It wasn't hot(temperature wise) at all. It was almost cold and did not have the jerk flavor, tasted like regular grilled chicken. The cabbage was bland but the rice n peas was decent because of the gravy. I didn't even finish my little plate, so that says a lot. I love jerk but wasn't feeling this spot. I came around 6p.m on a Tuesday, so it could have been an off day but for the price of over $40 for the amount of food and it was room temp at best! I think I will have to go somewhere else for a better meal.

Not the best photos to show you how delicious these plates were, since everything was devoured with in minutes. My bestfriend and her family raves about this place so we had to try when I was in town. One of the restaurants at the Krate in Wesley Chapel. Festive vibes, really friendly staff, & delicious food. Their oxtail stew with rice & beans takes the cake. Fall of the bone tender & absolutely flavorful. Jerk chicken also a winner. Love the fried plantains. Big surprise was also the Jamaican patties - the curry & the beef were both really good. Must try!

Absolutely loved the Jamaican dishes. Meals were seasoned very well and oxtail was delicious and tender. So tasty and good, felt like I was invited to eat at a friend's house for some good home cooking! I cannot wait to try the fish, or goat or chicken curry next!

They have some very tasty oxtail stew! To be honest, I thought everything ordered was full of flavor. The steamed cabbage was the best I've had so far. I could even taste the coconut oil. The fried plantains were perfectly ripe and sweet. The oxtail was tender and savory. You couldn't see it in my picture, but the butter beans were all hidden under the oxtail. Everything arrived to our table hot, fresh, and delicious. We were initially told that the oxtail wasn't ready yet. It did take a while to come out, but it gave me time to catch up with my old work buddy. It was so worth the wait. I shared my Sour Sop Drink with my friend. It was her first time trying guanabana. We loved it! This particular Cariblend Juices brand is blended with cane sugar and lime juice. The juices are made locally. They had other flavors, but this one really caught my attention. I need more of these natural tropical drinks in my life. So refreshing! They also had many other Jamaican sodas (Ting), drinks, juices, and beer. As you know, these restaurants have fully functional kitchens and AC inside the shipping containers. The aroma coming out of Rhythm Pon de Grille at opening time was intoxicating. They have very limited seating inside. Not a problem. We took advantage of their fully shaded outdoor space. They have huge black umbrellas shading you from the sun. We were under a heat advisory that day, but it didn't feel like it where we were sitting. We got a cool breeze every now & then. Would I go back? Absolutely! I want to try the rice and peas next time. I was trying to be good by getting plantains instead. I missed my favorite part, which is the rice soaked in all the flavors of the stew. Next time!!!

First time ever trying there small size Jerk chicken. Brown rice and kidney beans with sautéed pepper and cabbage and 2 sweet plantains and 2 pieces of glistening jerk chicken ,and a side of RED STRIPE . Sat outside with island music under tarp as it was raining . Great price .. coming back

The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.

From the attitude to the lack of love put into the food. As for the Humming bird it needs help in many ways. The cleanliness is lacking, people should see clean tables and no leftover rice grains on the floor left from previous customers. The greetings and mannerisms are lacking as well. I shouldn't feel like I'm getting into an altercation with the cashier. As for the food it's lacking the love from the beautiful island called JAMAICA . When establishments get comfortable they forget what it took for them to open those doors. The hard nights of labor that open those doors, the love of cooking some amazing food, the introduction of bringing the elements of Jamaica. As for the order was an oxtail with rice and peas, and cabbage. Also an order of curry chicken with same sides as the oxtail. The oxtail wasn't tender enough the seasoning a bit on the salty side. The curry chicken tasted as leftovers from the previous day. Again it starts with the kitchen and owners have to be held responsible to the full extent. Either get it together for Tampa needs carribean restaurants or shut down and reevaluate the love once was that represented Jamaica.
