We've used Dayton Sewer & Drain for line-cleaning needs at our 62 year-old house in Kettering OH…read moresince 2018. When "everything" was backing up & not draining today, I gave them a call a little before 9AM. Gene promised to be there between 11AM & 1PM. I asked that he call me when he was on his way. As promised, he called & showed up at the house right on time. He even brought his VERY well behaved 14 year-old Australian Shepherd copilot (who stayed in his vehicle the whole time). While I thought the problem was due to our daughter's long hair plugging up the drain line from the bathtub, Gene (correctly) diagnosed the problem as a blocked main line. It took Gene about an hour to use his 300# power auger to cut/extract roots from the main line to the sewer. See the attached picture for the ~4" x 8" wad of roots that was plugging the drain. Once Gene was finished, he checked & double-checked to make sure that everything was draining properly. He made recommendations as to how we should avoid this problem in the future (basically, having roots removed from the line every 2 years or so). Dayton Sewer & Drain's bill was reasonable for the service they provided. There was NO attempt to "up-sell" us on services not truly needed. Gene quickly determined the problem & fixed it. We'll keep using Dayton Sewer & Drain in the future.

The showed give us a quote that I thought was I have been treated so fairly by the other company, I trusted it was a fair price and I reluctantly agreed for him to do the work. After he started the work, I walked into my driveway and seen a five star plumbing truck parked in my driveway. I went back in and why it wasn't narrow plumbing. He said well we have taken over their work. When I then started to research the cost to unstop a kitchen sink. The price was $99 other local plumbers. They charged us $400 and $640 to install a garbage disposal I have purchased. That was less than two hours work . My fault for not checking competitors prices before agreeing for them to do the work. Don't call them unless you want to be charged outrageous fees. And check with your worker when he shows up to make sure that he is really from the company that you contacted.

One person was sent to install it and remove our older water heater. I asked the installer about the overflow pan and he said he didn't replace ours because he didn't think it needed it, although it was showing signs of break-thru rust. I told him that Lowes told me that a pan was included with my purchase. Again, he said our old one was not in bad shape. When I called Lowes they confirmed that Five Star Plumbing was responsible for replacing the old pan and that it was included in their installation charge. When I called Five Star Plumbing, the manager told me that the installer said I did not need one because it was not in bad shape. When I called Lowes installation department again they wrote a work order for the pan to be installed. I believe Five Star Plumbing was trying to pocket the cost of the pan. The old pan is at least 17 years old and there is no way that it would last through the warranty of my new water heater. We did receive a new overflow pan but it shouldn't be this hard to get what you pay for!
